Hi everyone,
I am canceling the Knob Hill monthly scheduled for October the 19th. Instead, we will have an outing to the new 18 hole course at Seven Springs. The lifts are only open a couple more weeks. I will have more details after I talk to Seven Springs on lift costs. I can't wait.

I talked to Jamie from Adventures at 7 springs, and the lift's do start at 10 am. I plan on being there a little before that. The shop that sells the lift tickets will open at 10. The lift tickets are either $4 per nine, or $12 for all day. Again, it is a time consuming course, so the earlier the better. There will be food and drink on hand.
I don't think we are going to do any formal tournament. We can break up into groups when we see what the turn out is. It is already $12 to play. So, the most fun wins. I can be talked into any kind of side action, I'm sure. But for a lot of the people it will be the first time they play the course, or anything like it. And if the wind kicks up, it will be very ahhh interesting. Hope to see you there.

I second that!!! That course is amazing. The best part was watching Alanna's drive on hole #3 fly past the basket, then past the pines, over the alpine slide, and landing somewhere down by the bike jumps in front of the lodge. It was crazy!!! I now know how you felt Chris when you threw on that hole.
Or how bout Matty going for the heart of the pond on hole #2 and almost clearing it. It was about 4 feet short.

I do not think there will be one person to disagree with the following statement:
J Gary has done it again.
Im starting to think there is nothing he cant get done. 7 Springs is simply an amazing design. Did I say amazing? I meant super-duper-monstro-mazing! I wish it was 1. CLOSER TO ME and 2. not such a bastard to play as its BRUTAL on your body (27 holes and I could not have physically played anymore)... It just couldnt have happened, but not for lack of wanting to.
lets see, some of my thoughts about the course...
hole #2. One of the best disc golf holes going. Relatively flat across the peak it forces you to make a placement shot over the edge of a snowmaking pond to a landing zone that is not very wide, all things considered. You then must execute a good upshot to have a chance at the birdie. not an easy chance either. GREAT hole. I'd have to say most likely my favorite, if I HAD to choose.
hole #3. I may be partial to the downhiller hole #3 as I parked it (like 6 feet tops) with a firebird hyzer. But I also saw the other extreme as I was playing with Alanna when her drive went exactly as Kurt described above, FAR and SCARY. Simple looking hole. Not so simple to throw. Loads of fun going DOWNDOwndown.
Hole # 6 - left dogleg par 3 that needs a swooping low hyzer (anhyzer for me) to get down to the basket. with those awesome switchbacks from the corkscrew trail it makes this a unique and fun hole to play. threw a forehand firechicken and missed the putt for 2 from about 20 feet. story of my life!
Hole 14 - this'll make you pucker up. Not only do you realize that if your disc goes left and the wind catches it you will be lost over the hill in the trees, but you go right and the condos are there. With the narrowing approach shot due to the trees left and the little pines and condos right accuracy is a must on this deceptively long hole. All the forementioned things make this a tricky little par 5. I personally took the 5 both times yesterday, but I did see 7's...
Hole #15, albeit not the best hole ever, it is one of the most unique without a doubt. A LONG shot STRAIGHT down the Goosebumps slope! And I mean STRAIGHT DOWN. I can promise you will never throw a shot exactly like this one anywhere else, especially if you are lefty and cannot throw the monster spike hyzer route. Did get the birdie three second time around. Hit the cage for it the first time. I consider that playing this hole very well. Control matters most here as discs will go ANYWHERE on this hole, especially when the wind is whipping like it was early in the day. And the view. once again, stunning.
I could go on about others but those were my favorite holes. The course is amazing. Design wise and in absolute beauty of the land. As Matty McMillan aka McMillionaire pointed out while playing the first round, its so easy to just sit down on the hillside and stare. Stare at the vistas and stunning beauty. Stare at shots getting hucked down or across the hill. Stare into Stella's beautiful blue eyes. Okay not really. but you get the point. You will be in awe.
YOU NEED TO PLAY THIS COURSE!
SEVEN SPRINGS NEEDS TO PUT IN 18 MORE!!! I'd definitely get a hotel room twice a year and play all weekend if that was the case. Spring and Fall. Thats a promise.
Anyone up for next weekend?... I'll walk there if I have to!!! :D
thanks J Gary. and to everyone that came out (there were lots) thank you too. Disc golf as it should be. What a great day.

I liked almost every hole. A little bit of everything is there. It's going to be one of the greatest overall courses ever built as more gets done. I'm kind of curious to see where the GOLD tee's are going in.

what did you shoot Rex? I pulled a 70 (34/36) first time through and shaved two strokes off my back nine score the second time through. I think 66ish is more than obtainable there for me. I also think 80 is obtainable as well :o

I think I scored 10 over par. Four on the front, six on the back. 3 strokes for lost discs... one got lost in plain site and then got returned to me the next hole. I could see blowing up big there with poor shot selection.

7 springs rocks. 61 this weekend, and that was without making any putts more than 20 feet. I think someone is going to tear that course up with a 54. Maybe even better than that.
So I got my green destroyer back that flew miles down the hill. They had it in the adventures building. I never did ask where they found it, but by looking at the huge road rash on the champion disc on the rim, it's pretty apparent to me that it landed on some concrete. I'm guessing it did land in the festival.
YIKES.....at least they didn't have any cops waiting for me when I got the disc back.

Chris,
Alanna did the same thing and they found hers next to the jumps by the Foggle Goggle. She bearly threw it!!! It was a half throw and it went that far.

Werd. I saw J. Gary park it with a Challenger.
He was probably no more than about 75' short on #15 Goosebumps with the same disc. That's a 700+ throw, and he had a drop-in birdie 3.

But thats no fun!!! I'd rather throw a SUPER Spike Hyzer on #3. And I probably should have tried the challenger on #15.

I threw my destroyer because I watched Jerry, Sid, and Dave put their destroyers within 30 feet of the pin. So I figured mine would do the same thing.
I threw a putter this week, and it still almost floated over the hill. The problem with the putter is when it gets windy. It makes you want to throw a Spike hyzer.
I'm real worried about this hole. If me and Alanna have bothe ended up at the bottom of the hill, then how many more will do it? How long till someone actually gets hit? I love the hole, but I don't want to be the one hitting someone from 1000+ feet away.

I know I need to try something different on Goosebumps#15. I threw a Wraith that turned over to the right, into the heavy woods. Then the next time around I hyzered early over by Corkscrew #6's basket. Then I threw a mulligan that looked really good for a while, but then hyzered sharply again and ended up on the red tree of hole#16. Easily a 900+ foot throw!
