Any of you who have played COTO the last few years, know how I LOVE the O.B. paint line :D

I'm not sure if we'll be using paint or string yet (of course, I'm leaning towards the paint), but ALL creek beds & ponds will be marked for O.B......one way or another /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
You'll definitely need to Play Smart...and Keep It Simple :D Placement will be key, and that's the way it should be
Don't worry, I'm not talking about anything crazy....just marking the courses the way they were designed to be played, since everything has dried up.

Sep 28 2008, 10:15 PM
I have to get an official approval from Mr. & Mrs. Houck to use paint.

If they say 'no', we'll have to use string. :(

If they say 'yes', paint it will be. :)

justice
Sep 30 2008, 11:46 PM
Well, we got a 'yes' on paint for the putting circles, but we'll have to use string for the O.B......so it shall be.

Registration will open to everyone next Monday, and players will be able to sign up online starting then thanks to
Disc Nation (http://www.discnation.com).

With 88 qualified players, that leaves at least 56 spots open for folks that are not in the HOTT Final Bonus $. There will be an additional $1500 added to the Pro purse, and you do not have to be a qualifier to get in on that $.

Preliminary HOTT Final Bonus calculations:

Pro - $1150
Am - $3000

These numbers will go up slightly when I add the $5 per staffer that is playing the final (but staffed HOTT event(s) throughout the year).

I will soon.

On another note.....I totally left the Shady Oaks RV Park off the places to stay list! They are only 6 minutes from the ranch (towards Wimberley on 2325) & are, by far, the closest bar ;) They also have tent camping available...showers....a general store....restaurant...and laundry facilities. Here's the link to their website. (http://www.shadyoaks-rv.com/)

The folks that were supposed to do the lunches just backed out today; so, I'm working on that now......BUT, there will be lunch available, both days (for sale). I'll post the details as soon as I have them.

Looks like we'll have a band for the Players' Party Saturday Night! As soon as things are finalized, I'll post who they are and provide a link to their music.......pretty up-beat stuff.....& loads of fun!

Registration for the HOTT Final opens up to EVERYONE today, and on-line registration is now available on Disc Nation (http://www.discnation.com).

Be sure to check out all the gear while you're there. They have everything you need to get ready for the final.

Disc Nation played a huge part in making HOTT possible, and giving them your disc golf business is an easy way to say 'Thank you' for sponsoring HOTT this year.
Never underestimate the power of a simple gesture.....let the Disc Nation crew know how much you appreciate their support....even if it's a simple 'Thank You' in the comment section of your registration.

Please remember that qualifying does not guarantee you a spot....you need to sign up.

We've worked the numbers over & over, and looks like, due to the time crunch, we'll be using tee times on both courses.

Mitch/PJ- I competed in ma1 for all of my qualifiers, can i compete in mm1 for the final and still be eligible for bonus payout???

justice
Oct 14 2008, 11:50 AM
There are 2 ways a player could have played in different divisions and still qualify for the bonus in the division they play in for the Final.

1st.......Their player rating changed and they had to move up.

2nd.......There weren't enough players in the division they normally play in & had to play a different division to still play & get a qualifying credit. Examples of divisions this might have happened in would be FW3, FW2, MG1, MPG (smaller divisions that don't always get at least 3 players).

In both cases, that players' bonus money will go to the division they play in the Final (which will be the division they either have to play in due to rating or would normally play in).

There are only a few of each case.

Hope this helps everyone understand.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

I'm trying to have all the numbers broken down & divided by the end of this week.

We are currently re-working numbers. Due to the time change, there will be a serious time crunch & it will be getting dark around 5:40 pm. We don't want anyone finishing in the dark! Shot gun start may still be an option since the total field can't get much bigger than 144 anyway.

HOTT Final Bonus by Division (preliminary as we'll want to double & triple check it):

FPO - $125
FW1 - $155
FW3 - $95
MA1 - $900
MA2 - $930
MA3 - $435
MG1 - $190
MM1 - $295
MPM - $470
MPO - $555

WOW.....this payout is gonna be HOTT!!!!

From the Hays County Fire Marshal:

The outdoor burn ban does not allow for ground campfires. However, you may have small fires in containers designed to suppress all sparks and/or flames. Basically a Bar-B-Que pit that can be controlled. We do request that the area around the pit area be clean and if possible a water bucket or water hose be nearby in case of an accidental fire.

We would LOVE to have a mixed doubles division on Friday.

If there are 2 or more teams that want to play, we'll make it happen. 'True' mixed doubles format (both tee off, then each player throws from their partners shot, then you pick which shot you want & alternate out.....if you pick her shot, you throw....if you pick your shot, then she throws).
We'll be sure everyone understands before they play.....from the White tees.

We LOVE mixed doubles!.....& not just because we have multiple National & World titles ....it's just loads of fun!

Scott, you just need to get a clue, you don't even know what a McCain or My_Carroll are. :D:D:D

True. But I'm learning that McCain is the King of Smack Talk in these parts. When I read that last post I spit Mt. Dew all over my keyboard laughing so hard.

Fair enough - Just to bring you up to speed, a My_Carroll is a fearsome repetative story teller. You'll know when you meet him & you've already heard the story he's telling. :)

Speaking of the storyteller, why isn't his name on the list?

A giant THANK YOU to Patty and Mitch!

I have never played a better organized event. The on site food was an added bonus, hot food to order was the bomb. :D

Thank you Greg, Rodney, and Blu. That last round round was the the iceing on the cake, thank you for the great round of golf.

I followed the Pro Masters for the final nine, they showed me that I'm playing in the right division so Randel, I'll see you next year.

Thanks also to John Houck, your courses do reward a good golf shot, short on the fairways is better than long in the rough.

Go HOTT '09

What a great weekend! Team Justice pulled off an awesome weekend with way more give aways and contests than I've seen in a long while

It was an honor to marshal your event. I even learned some better spotting techniques for Circ Hill 18.:D

Agreed! A fantastically executed event! The courses looked better than ever, and the bonus money concept in addition to the normal amateur payouts made for quite a lot of excitement...I think Team Justice has really created a solid foundation here for building support of our sport in central Texas and beyond, and hope to see them around in the years to come....

Team Justice really stepped up this year and set the bar for everyone else.
I dont think Texas golfers understand how lucky we are, not many states out there offering their tournaments in a series with extra payout.
Cant wait til teams to get a little redemption on the meadows, if there was ob string there, I found it...
Great Win SHANNON M! Int woman from CC winning FW1..

Mitch, can we keep the OB up for teams? Having all the OB was really sweet. The two meter rule, not so sweet. :D

Thanks Team Justice!
Y'all did such a fantastic job creating a fun & varied series of tournies...having both one & two day events, multiple courses throughout central TX, tons of prizes, the huge pontential hole in one payout, the new website, custom payout envelopes, great communication, yummie food, pre-tournie course preperation, using tee times to accommodate more players at a couple events, hosting the finale at a course that is a favorite course for many players, whew! You guys did an amazing job & we all hope you don't get burned out any time soon.
The CR courses looked amazing & the added 10 meter putting circles & the clearly marked O.B. string c/w flags that really made some shots challenging were great additions to these courses.
One small problem...I see next years final is scheduled the same weekend as the 19th VPO. Both A tiers. Perhaps in the next 11.5 months y'all, Gary & Skip can work out a scheduling adjustment to allow touring players a chance to play both tournies back to back?
Hope to see y'all again real soon. Thanks again.
