Okay, it's that time again. Less than two weeks from now the 3rd annual Four States Open will take place in Joplin, MO at McClelland Park. Saturday, Sept. 27th.
2 rounds, 36 holes. The extra 18 will be set up, so no holes are played more than once. We'll have ring of fire, an ace pool (lots of opportunities :)), CTPs, a basket throw off, maybe more.
Come and enjoy our beautiful scenery and lob friendly baskets! ;)
registration details can be found on the TOURNAMENT FLYER (http://www.joplindgc.com/images/4stateflyer08.pdf)
I'm not sure when pre-registration will be available, but i'll try to find out.

just wanted to mention.... last year we finished kind of late, which sucked a bit for the out-of-towners. well, i've been assured that we will not have the same problem this year.
also, there's a max registration of 144 people. last year we had 120 show up, so 144 is definitely reachable. play it safe and sign up early when the pre-reg is up or just show up early.
and thanks in advance to everyone that comes! see ya there!

okay, the extra 9 out front will be changing this year. something new to look forward to. i walked it today and it's looking pretty sweet!
also, we have some volunteers who will be recording the pros. i want to say just the finals, but i'm not certain. hopefully we'll have that edited and online soon after. this should be a really great event!

i'd like to say yes, but i'm really not sure right now. Kevin is very busy..... at least through Thursday. if pre-reg is up early, i'm guessing it will only be late thursday or friday. i'll try to find out.
Glad to see that we have some travelers! You're in for some nice weather this weekend! See you there!

That course is awsome, you have a great veiw on every tee, you anticipate ever new drive with that elevation out there. Well taken care, just beautifull course. I loved every look at each hole, every drive. Each hole was like a kid at Christmas, can wait to play it, then you get to the greens and it like all you got for Christmas was a lump of coal in your stocking. With all the beauty and the layout they have it amazing that you could KILL every hole with every basket. Sorry but those baskets aren't worthy of an amusement park and make Mitch Macs look like USDGC baskets. :p
It was a great tournament and a quick drive up there.
Beautifull course, less than crappy baskets. :p
Way to go Wagel, nice playoff win. :DThanks Wilks and Convers had a blast playing with you guys the last round, just too many spits, lips and loop-d-loops on those metal frakenstine baskets. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

believe me, we know that those baskets are junk. the extra nine holes out back were supposed to be modeled after my portable, but the city apparantly thought they knew better . if those had turned out well, we probably would have replaced every hole on the course with them, but they sucked even more. maybe we can convince them to remake some. it's going to be tough. no one likes to be told that they didn't do what they were told.
with that said, we're very grateful that our city really wants to help us out when they have the time. maybe we'll be able to break it to them lightly ;)

Surely with what the city speant on man hours to bulid those they couldn't have saved that much over real baskets. I know everytime we have asked the city for help, the rates for the man hours are over the top for what we as a club can do for them. If they would wake up to that fact, that course could be a great economic value to the city. You could have tournaments with 150+ people. two day events. That means hotel rooms, meals and money speant in their city. Real baskets could actually pay for themselves. ;) I did like the street signs for the tee pads though. Easy to see from a distance.
I just got a bid for 18 mach 5, 18 tee signs and a practice basket for right around 8K, delivered.
Again not trying to knock your course, there is nothing to knock against it, other than those baskets. The course itself is a thing of beauty, truley. ;)
