Thank you to Wise, Devon, Johnny T, Wagle, and Penny for coming to evaluate the progress. The course can certainly use a little more work but it was played today! I heard a rumor Mr. should be a open player Andrew Treat may of tossed a few holes as well.

Thanks for the offer and plan on me taking you up on it. :) I carried 200+ broken limbs from the ice storm and walked through the course 5+ times and am proud to say I have no ticks or chiger bites. I am notorious for getting them if at all possible.

You bet. It was amazing what happened today. I am so grateful for your time laying it out. It has so much potential. Ricki has been very supportive. I told her that by the time you come in for the OO I want the course ready to give you a tour.

You can't ever under estimate the heart of a volunteer. Let alone 200+ volunteers (powerful!). I have never witnessed such a transformation in 1 day in my life. I don't mean to keep going on about it, I am just stunned.

Yeah we call it The Canyon, We call it Copperhead, but no matter what you call it we are talking about one of THE BEST places to work on your game...!
Seems like it has 18 baskets, or did I miss one?
Anyways there is still A TON of Poison Ivy all over the place, so we really need to see if we can have a volunteer day out there to get some guys with weedeaters and really knock down the areas around the holes as far as Ivy goes.
Still probably my favorite all-time track in Tulsa as far as what you get out of playing it.
Blackhawk is on so much more land, area-wise, but the fact that the Canyon has the elevation is just awesome!
Thanks Kyle for getting it going again.
And thanks to K-Mack for a beautiful track.
Bring your teebird, roc, and putter and see what happens.

...not sure
...maybe, i guess if you want
...I do
...no map that I know of
I'd love to play, but can't today. I will be looking for action tomorrow for sure. Red??
Crowl, if you do go out today, be VERY CAREFUL on the rocks. There are going to be very slippery with the recent rain.

Let me know if you have anymore volunteer days planned for copperhead. Haven't played it in about a year and a half so it would be great to get some regular action out there.
They still charging for parking?
Thanks for your efforts Mr. Wilkes.

Thanks for the Kudos. As I previosly mentioned Copperhead is on the come back. One of the next steps is to clarify what the hours are and when we can have access. As for now it still needs some work and we will have a better feel for when it will be public soon. I will have an event in the futire to officially open it back up. Until then it will be a coordinated effort now and then when i can get us access. Patience will pay off! This course is huge.
P.S. I get Ivy worse than anyone and I didnt tink it was that bad.

I will show you personally Wilkes...
In fact Penny cued me on on just either playing a round with a pump of weed killer or just doing a quick round.
It is probably that you were finding more fairways than me...

Well...Wilkes really gave me a treat tonight. We ended up tied at 52...so it was a very rocky little round.
A few of us played/scouted the Canyon for maintenance goals. I believe that the course is not officially open to play yet, so for those who are wanting to play it, stay tuned, I am sure Mr. Wilkes will keep everyone posted.
It is looking good. There isn't a ton of work to do, I think some proper application of a little weed killer paired with a some moderate weedeater work would have it ready to be seen in a tournament.
A little touch-up work is all it needs...
The biggest thing is taking out a tree on hole 6 because as of now there is no hole.
Kevin you should come in for Thanksgiving, I would bet the course will look AMAZING by then.
Turkey-day skins at Copperhead? :D

Nice shooting Treat although we shot 56. I little love to the course can produce a solid track. I'll keep everyone in the loop on when the updated course hours are available and when it if officially opened. Thaks to everyone who took a look with me to see what needed to be done.

After that three on 17 it felt like a 52... :D
But man Kyle, when it comes to hitting some of those lines out there...I couldn't believe you didn't shoot under par.
You really had some great turnover shots last night, it was fun to watch.

I tried to play at the Y (that is where this Copperhead track is located...basically at the SE corner of the intersection of Hwy 44 and Hwy 75) last year about this time. I looked up the course info on the PDGA course finder, made a call and went out there to play. (I used to do a lot of m-bike riding at Turkey years back and always blasted through the Y property, looping through the DG track.)
The Y has restricted hours (see below...hopefully that will change), they made a copy of my driving license and I think you have to pay to play. Also, I think I had to check back in at the office when I left as well. Well I didn't play that day, I told them at the office that I wanted to just look at the track for future play (at that time I wanted to play every course in the Tulsa metro area). When I viewed the track last year it was major WAY overgrown past the third hole. The amount of work that was needed was ALOT! Thanks to Mr. Wilkes for getting that done!
what are the hours?
Last year it was Monday through Friday (no weekends) from 9-6.
is there a map of the course somewhere, as I have not had to oppurtunity to play it.
When I played last year they did have a map at the building where you have to check in.
I have always wanted to play there and now it looks as though this track will be available! Sah-WEET! :D
