I'm trying to find out some statistics, so this may be a Chuck post.
I'm looking for records showing the highest B-tier pro payouts ever. Either in one state, or in all tournaments. Is there any way to track that? I though about going through every tournament result and recording the payouts, but was hoping there is a record of it already.
Any ideas?

check the Carrollton Open, I usually am able to pay out $1000 for 1st place Open nearly every year. When you calculate trophy and players packages, one year I paid the Open Pro %200 percent of there entry fee in the cash payout.
and with a good turnout this year, I will be able to do it again.

Do you feel like that is on the high end? Seems high. How are you able to get that? Big sponsors?

Here are the big sponsors for 2007 events but it doesn't indicate how much made it to players. I know the tour stats from each year are posted by tier level but it may have been in one of the earlier magazines this year.

I average around $2000 to $3000 in sponsorships, plus I put all disc sales and am entry fees back into the tournament.
Tournament trophies and ALL players packages are paid for with sponsorship monies.
I have $2,700 cash on hand for this years tournament as of today, with $500 in pledged sponsorship. (I might not get one of those, maybe two, it happens)
BTW, last year I had 210 players and had a $50+ CTP round for all 42 cards, including 4 for $50 cash and one with $100 cash.
I also paid out $500 for course records (mostly to Eric McCabe who set course records for both courses, but another player took part of it from him by tying :D)
Oh yea, and the $1500 ace pot ($450 came out of sponsorship money)
the secret is .........
Don't be afraid to ask anyone and everyone for sponsorship. You don't have to give them a hard sell, just put it in front of them and let them decide. I have been running this tournament for 12 years now, most of my sponsorship money comes from people contacting me. (this year nearly all of it)

Seems that you over-qualify for being an A-tier event. Add-ins and plenty of players. What's the holdup?

Last years Southern National Pro Championship was a b tier and paid more then just about any event! This year it was a C tier. A,B,C, whats the difference except for more fees. The TD's make the difference!

Wow some really good examples! $2500?? How in the world? MS doesn't surprise me, except that it was a B tier.
The reason I ask is we've been bustin our butts over here and gotten some decent sponsorship. Plug in the numbers and it looks like about $825 is what we can expect this weekend for first place. I was trying to get to $1000 but I can't do it without leeching add-ins from other divisions, which I will not do.
So I'd like to get some more input from some of you that have consistantly done this. How have you met your goals? Do you have to fudge any numbers anywhere?

Have you tried hole sponser ships for 10-20 bucks per hole? I used to go to Walmart, traget ect and get either money or merchindise. I would always say well this store gave us this, what can you do to help? That might help.

Most sponsored players get bonuses based on PDGA Tier. Even though a player scored well in a great "A-Tier type" field, much like the SNPC this past weekend, they won't be rewarded with bonuses because of the event's status. :(

I'd rather get $1,300 at a C-tier for 2nd with no bonus than a higher tier with less payout!

lol, Only a select few have that option. Like Matt said the cash is better and the entry fees are considerably le$$ so, it is a no brainer on the SNPC no matter what tier level it is. By the way Innova does give bonuses for this event :D:D
Matto's 2400 payout beats any bonus along with Vinnies 1700!
Does'nt Solstice have a sponsored player whom finished second?
You better give TK a cold one :p
