Just a question - if my rating goes above 970 and I go to a bring your own partner doubles event... can I play Advanced with a much lower rated partner, lets say it brings our "average rating" down to like 945-50ish. Just curious, a friend of mine and I want to hit one up in late Sept. so my rating *might* (if all events got turned in) go over 970.

Thanks for any help,

-Chris.

Not if it is sanctioned. If it is unsanctioned, you'd have to ask the TD.

I do that ratings averaging thing for my doubles tournaments, but I have done clever things with the TD report when any Open players were playing in the "silver" division and I was sanctioning it.

That was why I was curious, I knew that a lot of TDs did averaging for doubles tournaments and thats how they placed people in divisions... so I wasn't sure if that was how the PDGA did it. I'll just have to hope some events didn't make it into this update and I get to stick under 970. :)

I've never seen anyone other than me doing averaging for doubles, but maybe I started something and have not been paying attention.

I've seen a few doubles events do it, but yeah your Byron Big-D events were definitely the first I saw.
