I've never preferred this format b/c I love playing as much golf as possible. Even if I were to make the final 9, its still less golf than I would have played!

Either way, I'll be at the event and hope to play my best.

Aug 30 2008, 02:29 PM
Also so everyone knows ahead of time, Cedarock has had some minor changes to it. First it is back to 18 holes again. For those of you that are familiar enough with the course to know what I'm talking about here's the changes. Hole 5's basket has been removed. The pads from 5 now become what was 6's pro pads. Also hole 9's basket has been removed. 9's pads now become the pro pads for what was 10's basket. Also what was 18's pro pad has been moved into the tree line instead of on the far side of the tree line from what was 18's regular pad. This should help cut some of the congestion on the last 3 holes and make the course flow better for tourney play. This allowed us to remove the homemade basket from the course so we have all Mach 2's and 3's. I figure this will also help save a few people some penalty strokes that write the score down based on par 54 instead of par 60.

We have a guy working on making us new maps right now and we are working on getting the club website updated with downloadable scorecards with maps.

Don't forget to add $2.50 for PayPal charges and be sure to put your name, PDGA #, division, and phone # in the comment box.

We have the club site working well enough to run PayPal through it. www.cedarockdiscgolf.com (http://www.cedarockdiscgolf.com)
There you can download the .pdf of the flier, send your PayPal entry, or buy a CFR Destroyer and help support the tournament.

Soon we hope to have scorecards and maps for the revamped Cedarock course, the temp course, and even the final nine that will be played in the tourney.

We are discouraging it because the park had complaints in the past with beer cans in the trash. We could be in jeopardy of not getting to use the temp course in the future if there are ANY beer cans in the park trash cans after the tourney. Therefore we are discouraging camping in the park.

The trash probably wasn't us as there were geo-cachers camping too, but we are being looked at closely this year, so we are trying to keep the potential for troube down.

Rodney Gilmore
Sep 24 2008, 11:05 PM
Like I said, I don't believe it was disc golfers. I think we just caught the blame for any beer cans at all. The problem is that the rumor got too high up the food chain and word has come down that there can't be any beer cans in our trash. That means campgrounds, golf course, parking lot, whatever.

This is why we are being encouraged to have all campers at Cane Creek Campground.

Did I mention they have showers?

42 entrants so far. Only 228 spots left. We won't fill, we never have but that makes for small groups and few backups for you guys. Please pre-register. Be aware there is a $10 late fee for registrations Saturday morning. I wil be at the park every afternoon between now and the tourney except for this Friday and Saturday. I can sign you up for the tourney then. We also have PayPal thru the ACE Club website (www.cedarockdiscgolf.com) or you can send a check to Tom Wagner for your entry.

The temp course is almost ready. I am still waiting for the park to finish mowing tomorrow so I can get all the short temp tees in and get them all measured. The temp course will have baskets on it either Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning for practice rounds. Just in case the score cards aren't ready by then, hole 1 is behind the park office. Everything from there is well marked and fairly easy to follow.

And as always, Buy a CFR Destroyer and help suport the tourney. If you want one, I have them with me at the park any afternoon. They are also available thru the Cedarock Shop link on the club website via paypal. If you want me to hold you one, email or call me and I will be happy to and you can get it Saturday morning. At the rate they are going, I don't think there will be any left on tournament day. When they're gone, they're gone.

Mini Thumber, leader of the Bagger and Hooters cup, and a pretty good rec player, but, by no chance a USDGC player. I am a good spectator though...LOL. Bad news on that hole. I took it out because it was one of the most remote holes and was causing such a long walk to the next hole. I also removed the hole before it from last year. I am not thrilled about having to do it since I too am a fan of it but was trying to save some of the extreme hiking between holes.

Rodney Gilmore
Oct 06 2008, 03:53 PM
To anyone who showed up on Sunday for the round on the temp course, I truly must apologize. I found out 30-45 minutes before the start of the round that one of our local golfers had asked Chuckster to help promote that round. To be completely honest, I had spoken to this individual previous to his message to Chuck that it may be a possibility if things worked out but I didn't know for sure if it would happen. I didn't find out until 8:30 Sunday morning that half the baskets were even available to me. I also had no idea that 3 holes would be taken up by a church service either until I saw it as I was putting baskets out. To anyone who showed up and had a bad time, please understand that my lack of preparation on Sunday is not a shadow of things to come this weekend. Honestly I was embarassed by the way things went yesterday.

The baskets will be in place tomorrow and more bushhogging will be done before the tournament to have the course prepared properly. Also everything will be properly marked. With the way things went, everything will probably be overly marked.

the pdga does help, they provide an easy to deal with spreadsheet and a website for uploading scores- how they can do more in that respect is beyond me. i think they ran out of granite tablets to inscribe the scores on in burlington, either that or the abacus is down. :D

Take for instance Mike Norris, he would have been waiting for the last player's disc to come to rest on the last putt, and then he would have hit send, well almost. I hate to say it but I made a mistake on the advanced payouts for the Sneeky Pete. When I was figuring the payout I multiplied the entry fee by the number of players paid out instead of the total number in the division. This made the payout only about half of what it should have been. I'd really like to fix it but I need to get addresses for anyone who placed in advanced so I can send out the extra plastic you are owed. I have been having computer problems so please either call me at 336 263 1456 or send an email to Susan at [email protected]

I have sent emails to everyone I had addresses for but didn't have info for Jeff Baldwin, Terry Gallops, or Kevin Peterson. If anyone can get in touch with them, please have them contact me.
