If you received the original flier, it said that the field for this C Tier event was limited to 70 participants. However, we have made some changes to the tournament and will be adding some temp holes at Lake Mingo so that, now, we will be able to accomodate as many as 180 people. There will not be a limit on any one division. However, if for some miraculous reason we reached 180 people (regardles of how many were in each particular division), we would have to cut it off at that point. Last month at the Beware the Beavers! tournament, we had 86 people. It would be great to break 90 for this one.
Don't forget to pre-register at http://njcpr.org/disc-golf/reg_nich_open_tournament.html so that you can get a cool player's pack.

The Nicholasville Open field will be playing in 2 pools this year.
Rather than limit the field to 90, and have to turn people away, or, if we have less than 90, be forced to play with almost all 5-somes and have very slow rounds, we are going to split the field into the 2 pools. It should ensure that most groups will only have 3 people and play should be fairly quick.
At this point, we are projecting that the pro, advanced, and intermediate players will be in 1 pool, while the rec, novice and junior players will be in the other. We may tweak that as the numbers come in and we get a better feel about how to best evenly split the field. But for now that is the way it will probably happen.
If people need rides because of the split field, we have a great group of hospitable folks in the Lexington area that will be glad to shuttle fellow disc golfers between the 2 courses.

As those of you who have played Mingo before may be wondering how we are going to play 18 holes there with up to 90 people, we will be adding 9 temporary holes for the tournament.
If you played in the Beware the Beavers! tournament last month, you played 3 of the 9 temp holes. There will be two more added in between #5 and #5.5 in the open field around the shelter in that corner of the park. The other 4 temp holes will actually be across Lake Street in the field over there where we have some room for some good distances.
All of the new temp holes will have their own unique challenges, but will largely be similar to the types of holes you have come to expect at Lake Mingo.
Don't forget to pre-register so that you can get a player's pack.

The Nicholasville Open III is part of the AT&T Bluegrass Series. The tournament would be a great time to get some more points toward the end of the year series awards. It's a great chance because not only can you advance in the Series standings, you can do it at a tournament with a great player's pack, great payouts with over $400 cash added across all divisions, and deep payouts -- we'll be paying 50% of the field in all divisions.
You don't have much to lose by playing in this tournament, but you have a lot to possibly win.

The Player's Packs for this C Tier event will feature a Nicholasville Open III custom-stamped Innova DX disc (Glow Ontario Roc, Goblin, San Marino Roc, or Leopard), a Nicholasville Open III custom-printed disc golf towel, a mini, and other assorted stuff.
That's a $20 value for a tournament where half the field will pay $20 or less.
But, remember, the only way to get a Player's Pack is to pre-register by 9:00 a.m. (EDT) Friday. To do so, go to http://njcpr.org/disc-golf/reg_nich_open_tournament.html.

If you got one of the original fliers or if you saw the flier on the web, we have made one major change to the start of the tournament. We will be doing player check in and registration at Lake Mingo between 8 & 9 a.m., and not at Riney. Please do not go to Riney first; go to the shelter at Lake Mingo.
