Everyone plays Victoria in February, but it is a much different course in the summer time. I would say at least 3 or 4 strokes tougher than winter time....

This event really is sanctioned even if it isn't on the tour page. I did the sanctioning agreements and the PDGA took the money.

We have actually had it planned all year, just running late with paperwork though...dont really want to take anyone away from Cedarville.... threw this out there late enough to interest those not going to Cedarville....dont get me wrong, we would love to have you, but it you are trying to decide between the two, go to Cedarville, what a great course and a great group of guys!!! This will be an annual event though...

Emily_L

they both turned it down.

atxdiscgolfer
Aug 07 2008, 01:24 PM
I wonder why, if both of them are under 975 they can still play ADV as long as they want if they accept.

krazyeye
Aug 07 2008, 01:46 PM
Because they are misinformed as are most people.

tbender
Aug 07 2008, 01:47 PM
They both could have taken merch and kept full Am status, too.

JerryChesterson
Aug 07 2008, 02:29 PM
Can't you just take cash and keep full am status as long as your rating is below 955?

Wallace Lee Gator
Aug 07 2008, 03:28 PM
I believe they didnt take cash b/c they both are attending Worlds 2009. Mike did give them the option to take Merch

krazyeye
Aug 07 2008, 05:03 PM
They should have taken the money it has no bearing on anything.

This is from the Competition Manual:

2.3. Reclassification
A. Professional to Amateur
(1) Players registered with the PDGA as Professionals
may petition the Tour Manager for reclassification back
to Amateur.
B. Amateur to Professional
(1) An Amateur wishing to change their classification to
Professional may do so by contacting the PDGA office
and requesting a Pro card.
(2) An Am player is automatically re-classified as Pro
when the player has accepted cash while competing in
a Pro division. Accepting prizes in lieu of cash or
accepting money for winning an ancillary contest such
as an ace pool does not cause a player to relinquish
his or her amateur status.

2.4. Pros Playing Am
A. Pros rated less than 970 may now compete in Amateur
divisions offered at PDGA A, B, and C Tier events, for
which they qualify based on player rating, age, and gender.
(1) Pro Men and Women
 < 970 can play Advanced (MA1)
 < 935 can play Intermediate (MA2)
< 935 can also play Advanced Master (MM1) if they
are of Masters age
 < 900 can play Recreational (MA3)
< 900 can also play Advanced Grandmaster (MG1) if
they are of Grandmasters age
 < 850 can play Novice (MA4)
(2) Pro Women only
 < 850 can play Advanced Women (FW1)
 < 800 can play Intermediate Women (FW2)
 < 750 can play Recreational Women (FW3)

So I believe if they would have taken the cash, they would not be eligible to play as an Am in any Major or National Tour.

Add me to the many misinformed. Last Cash appears to be correct.

bigbadude
