Has anyone thought about making pre reg for tournaments cheaper than entering the day of? Right now it cost a couple of dollars more to enter online than it does to enter the morning of the tournament. It seems to me you might better off offering a early bird discount to get more pre regs. Just a though......

WAYNE,
WHAT IS THE MASTERS AGE LIMIT FOR THE OKIE DOUBLES? IS IT THE SAME AS THE ICE BOWL?
.
... nope , not the same as the Tulsa Ice Bowl ( old school ) ...
.
... for Okie Doubles , we follow the PDGA current numbers :
40-years-old thru 50-years-old = Masters (pro or advanced)
50-years-old thru 60-years-old = Grandmasters (pro or advanced)
etc.
...

Looks like we got "Wayne's Weather" again this year. Yesterday OKC set two records: a) the lowest high temp (69-deg) for Aug 19th, and b) the most rain ever for the month of August (9-inches). The forecast for the weekend is low-90s, and one can expect massive humidity with all this rain...
We are looking forward to this last weekend before Football Season!!!

Come on guys! if you all think that there is money to be made running events then by gum stand up and run some!
the spring flings made very little money at the prices we set but they did do what we wanted them to do.
They gave every one in the area six shots at points for 2009 worlds. and found divisional and an over all winners of the series.
Oh, and without the TDSA's backing it would never have happened. the upfront cost of running events (even small ones) requires more than I have!
EVERYONE that plays in a Wayne Forest, Twisted Flyer, TNT. or Furdog / lil Moose event should thank their lucky stars that we have these fine people who will take a chance and open their own pockets to pay and set up our events.
And not to mention that even with staff no one gets any sleep between days.
So come on all you budding young money makers,
GET IN THERE AND RUN SOME EVENTS (if you think you can make money doing it)
We run the events for the good of the sport and the players NOT to make money (we only hope do not go to far in the hole!)

Hey wayne, I dont know if its the case but they might cut you a discount if you mention them as a sponser. I have heard the parks dept in edmond say something to that effect before but not sure on the details. But I could be completely wrong also...(like most times)

Yeah but when there is 200 am players averaging probably 35$ to 40$ a person it adds up. Specailly when you make about 2$ to 4$at least a disc you give in payout!!! Shana and Teresa paid $100 to play $10 of that being ace pot they got a dx disc and a pro disc each????
Was this a Blake Puffman Production???

See note above about park fees. $290 off the top.
Bet Mike did not do better than break even on this gig, I know that I would not try to do it in places I had to pay to use

You all should be glad they continue to run this event...for those of you that played in 2002..that was the BYE BYE BIRDIE event and would have been their last..
I will continue to show up year after year to see 200+ of my friends and golfers
GO WAYE AND MIKE!!!

The scores are probably where ever the money that could have been added to Pro and Pro masters is!!
.
.
... nope , I can confirm that ain't so ... the "scores" are sticked-pinned to a coupla cork-boards in the back o' my van ... some of those players at Hunter last night saw them also ... "money" ? ... "cash" ? ... well , , , I have more-vacancy in my own billfold than prior-to-running-the-Event ... a little-more-vacancy in my stock-of-Discs and tournament-supplies than prior-to-running-the-Event ... I had a vacancy of sleep-time ; but I'm almost caught-up on that now ... /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
.
.
... (I'll be sneaking-into some typing-time soon and get all of them-thar scores run-on-up for all) ... :)
I agree, it's not about the money. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Besides what I lay out in food and beverages and a few other things, it cost me nearly $800 this week just to go get diesel for the tractor, backhoe, skag and Mule. That's just fuel for the course.

I have won Okie Dubs 5 times and never got more than $400 for our team....the money has never been great there but the entry fees are always low and there is always at least a kegger or two (that costs money ya know.) It has never been about the money there, it's been about good times....you know what you are getting upfront so there really shouldn't be any biatching about it.
