The 14th Mid-Atlantic AM Championship has been sanctioned by the PDGA as a B-tier and will be held July 26 - 27, 2008 at Seneca Creek State Park DGC in Gaithersburg, MD. 14 years! This is the first year this tournament hasn't been held during the last weekend of September. The reason for the change is to offer a quality event during the mid-Summer when there's not as much going on, rather than in September after Paw Paw (WV), Druid Hill (Baltimore), and Calvert (College Park MD). Other than the date change, everything else should be the same, including the low entry fees.

Have you seen or heard about all the work that's been done at Seneca over the past 3 months? It's incredible! Seneca's looking great these days with only a few dirt tees remaining. With 27-holes to work with, we've got a lot of possibilities to make it a great event! Format will be two 18-hole rounds per day. Advanced and Masters will play Short Tees to A-pins, Long Tees to A-pins on Saturday. Long Tees to B-pins, Short Tees to C-pins on Sunday. Intermediate divisions play all 4 rounds from the Short Tees.

Have you seen the amateur entry fees at some tournaments lately? :mad:We're gonna pray we get decent sponsorship so entry fees will once again remain the same as they have been for years. Advanced & Masters: $40. Intermediate and Ladies: $25. Non-PDGA (or non-current) members must add $10. Here is a link to the tournament flier:

Sponsorship is only $25 and all proceeds will go directly toward FEEDING the field, i.e. lunch, sodas, ice, etc. The goal is to get two grills and cook out like we did last year. Please sponsor a hole!

INNOVA pro portable basket to the winner of the men's Advanced Division!

FFI, please contact John Merhi at [email protected] or 301-869-0007

Sorry for the late notice!

The Mid-Atlantic AM Championships, held at the beautiful Seneca Creek State Park course in Gaithersburg, MD, is the premier amateur tournament on the East Coast and one of the best run tournaments out there. I ended my amateur career with a second place finish there in 2002.

With a friendly staff and a world class disc golf course, this is an event not to be missed by any amateur!

Thanks Jeff! The course is in great shape and it's going to be a great event. Moving the tournament to July has definitely increased interest as we've already got more pre-registrants than most years.

That said, THIS EVENT WON'T FILL, so stop worrying that it might. And as long as I'm running it, there will NEVER be a late fee for registering on the day of the event. So... if you haven't made up your mind yet, take your time. You can easily register on Saturday, right up to 10:00 a.m. (or to the point where it just isn't worth it to take that many 7s. :D) And you'll never pay a late fee.

For the out-of-towners, the closest motel to the Course is the Motel 6 on Quince Orchard Blvd. This course is no more than 2 miles from the Park entrance. Rooms run about $65 - 80 per night. It might be a little cheaper on the weekends. This motel is located 1 block from Clopper Road, and the Park is on Clopper Rd. It's only a block from 270 so once your off the highway, you're right there. It's very conveniently located next to a dozen restaurants, a few bars, and a grocery store. Here are the details for the Motel 6:

497 Quince Orchard Road
Gaithersburg, MD 20878
(301) 977-3311

G'burg Motel 6 (http://www.motel6.com/reservations/motel_detail.aspx?num=1489)

Lunch both days. Innova Pro Portable to the winner of Men's Advanced division. A fat payout for everyone else! All for just $40.
