I haven't been able to find player counts or pre-registered list. The web site listed is just the city of Levelland.

I just spoke with Rocky. He was very busy and could not talk long. But, he said that registrations are flowing in. He expects in the 80-90 range. I've got some Levelland info posted at the Affiliated Club, Lubbock Windrider, Levelland thread. Oh, Lighthouse members are meeting tonight in Levelland to make assignments and address last minute (just over a week) issues.

We had the Old Settlers Day Doubles last night (Sat 12th). Just before 4:00 there was heavy rain in Lubbock. The short 30 miles west in Levelland was clear...and high northerly winds. The club had the full 24 layout for play. I think that there were about 30 players. We paired the adv/pro players randomly by card draw with the jr/rec/int/etc. players. Matt Ryan and Dillon Vance teamed up to take the outright win and $116 with a 67. There were then ties for several other spots. There were players from Amarillo, Portales, Lubbock, Levelland, and other towns I'm sure. The club had 10 meter rings painted, OB painted, the park was in great shape....setting up to be very nice for next week....
Rocky said that the open winner will be paid $1000. Another $1000 plus will be distributed. C'mon.

The minute I got to Levelland I had to try the signature hole - #1 Lighthouse. Outside the small elavated ring around the lighthouse, the backet is a good 10 feet up. Very cool hole. I got lucky and birdied it my first practice run so hopefully that continues in the tournament. If you make an ace run at it then most likely you've lost your birdie chance. Very cool!

The Lighthouse is complete. The weather was great...never extremely hot, never extremely windy. The course was great....City of Levelland stepped up and mostly the Lighthouse Club members stepped up....10 meter circles painted on every position, good OB lines, and on and on. They had plenty of food and drink. There was extremely good support staff. Things flowed well and went smoothly throughout.
Okay, the scoop. There were the usual couple of players (you know who you are) that forgot to turn in cards. Then of course there was Dillon who decided to sleep in on his birthday and give up a bunch of strokes up before he started to play. No aces hit (but Matt Smart hit one in warm up :(), so had a throw-off CTB that paid top three. John Stockmyer from Portales took first with $250 (Santos took 2nd or 3rd...we got tired of hearing his name called :o. There was a 'Buck-a-chuck' contest for a basket. You first had to qualify, then win against the qualifiers....Santos wins the basket. There were many Lighthouse and DisCrazy raffles....Santos was called about every other time.
For the actual tourney....the best I remember, Baxton (Clovis) won Jr's in his first tourney ever. ? won rec. Ramsey (Lubbock) beat out Ricky Lawless (Levelland) in a one hole playoff for Int. Mistin Kingston (Abilene) won Womens. Chris Lee (Lubbock) won Adv. Greg Brooks won Adv Grand Masters. I took Adv Masters. And then, yes Santos again, won the $1,000 paycheck for Open followed by Kyle Norrid (Amarillo) for $500, Marcus Roberts (Lubbock), Bo Neill (Lubbock), then ??? All pro players were paid out.

Santos really cleaned up! It was good to see him get his first win...he keeps getting better and better. I really thought it would be either Kyle or Santos because of the way so many of those tee/pin configurations favor lefties (not complaining...just a fact). Paying all the Open players was pretty cool...even though I felt like I needed to apologize for taking any money because of how aweful my play was :( Oh well...it will improve :D
Thanks to Rocky and his staff for holding this event!! He had more help than I have seen at a lot of B-Tier events (maybe too much in some instances ). Its really great to see the support from the City...if only all cites supported disc golf even half of what Levelland does....
2 things I would comment on that bothered me. Hole C. Having a hole where 95% of the fairway is completely covered by weeds that are at least knee high is a bad idea. Even with spotters the first round it was difficult to find you disc....which made that hole play pretty slow.
The second thing is scores. No scores posted at all the first day. No one really knew where they were in the standings or by how much they were in front of or behind other players.
Lots of good things though! Good players pack, food available on site, staff running around providing drinks on the course, 10m circles, OB lines, raffles. Lots of good stuff to build on for next year. I know what it takes to pull an event together...getting the first one under your belt is a big step. Your doing fine....keep it going!!
Thanks to Bo and Janie for putting us up for 2 nights. Had fun seeing a lot of farmiliar faces...look forward to seeing you all in Amarillo.

My scores sucked :( Thanks to Rocky and all his staff for the great tourney and even better payout. Thanks to the city of Levelland for the $ 2000 in added cash to the open payout. Congrats to Santos again...you payed like a champ and we all had fun without any drama :DCongrats to all the winners and to all the Open players because we all cashed  If your a lefty, you want to come to this tourney next year!! Miles, where were you man...we all expected to see you here...maybe next year. LIGHTHOUSE RULES!!
