Ok, I know this is a shameless copy of the VTI, but I had too much fun up there to only do it once a year. The format is basically the same. Each player will play a 9 hole match against his/her counterpart from another team. Of course this is match play, the great equalizer. The limit for teams is 12 and I already have 7 teams in for sure. Time to contact me if you want to get in. Currently we have 3 Kingsport area teams, 2 Asheville teams and 2 Knoxville teams. I would love to see some Va. and Nc. teams, but you gotta act quickly. 4 players per hole is the limit. If your team can't get in the VTI anytime soon (10 years!) then come on down to Fossil Hill and practice for that day when your teams number will be called at Hawk Hollow. Don't take this personally Biscoe, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I can only hope to make an event that is as much fun as yours.

hey tim,
doesn't bother me one bit, i'm happy to see the format perpetuated. i think vti has "offspring" at this point in md,pa,mi and tn. i really appropriated the idea from longer running events in texas, san diego, and wisconsin anyway- guess that would make those events the "grandparents" of yours.

Sorry Tim, but I can only play a few two-day events this year. I even had to miss two of my favorite events--the VO and HHO. Good luck with your event!

Are you coming Sunday? If not I can try and promote your tournament for you.

there has been some confusion lately about which ratings update will be used. the deadline for team entry is sept 1. the current ratings will be used. not the new update on sept 9. if you have any questions, call or email me.

Not to fear VA. We do have a team to represent the Old Dominion. Team No Quarter will travel to the Volunteer State and bring home the cup. Regardless of the outcome these guys will play well and have a great time doing it. Thanks for the invite Tim!

4 days til the matches are contested! 10 teams are in, still looking for two more. i will take team registration until fri. at 5 pm. i will need to set up the match schedule and other computer related stuff after that. the actual volunteer cup is a thing of beauty. It is a 3 level red oak base (completely hand crafted, not trophy shop stock) with a large cup on top and a trophy figure throwing a disc forehanded on top of the cup. it stands approx. 3 1/2 ft. tall and i would bet it weighs at least 20 pounds. it is impressive. each years winning team will have their team name and each team members name engraved on small plaque. it will be a traveling trophy, if you win it, you keep it for a year and bring it back next year and try to defend it. fossil hill is in excellent shape and john will mow it again before sat. thanks again to john for allowing the tourney to use his beautiful course.

match play team stuff is the bomb!
