I'm really glad you're setting this up again Shaine! Love the course! My whole family had a great time last year. I'm going to make every effort to attend.

Awesome! I'll be in Dallas the weekend of July 5th...i'll definitely plan on making the mini. I only got the play the course once so far (at the doubles year before last), but it was a blast! Hopefully I can make the actual event this year too.

I am glad to be able to do it. We have a great starting base this year and I really hope this is the break out year for this event. As always, we will have great golf, great food and of course great fellowship. Tournament discs are in the works and we will be doing two discs this year. We are going to try for some flat top Rocs and Champion Destroyers.
Also, if anyone is interested in coming on as a sponsor I will have that info ready in the next week. The plan is to add cash to every division.

So I know I'm going to be given grief for this...but what about some ESP or FLX tourney Buzzz's instead of rocs? I'd buy one! :)
When you say breakout...are you trying to get it sanctioned?
Shaine
Jun 24 2008, 02:26 PM
i will have to see what we can do. I am limited on funds and as much as I know you do not want to hear this Rocs sell better. :)
As far as sanctioning is concerned I am not completely sure. I will be trying to iron that out within the month. Money is a real issue and sanctioning the event would require me to purchase enough plastic to do the payout. If I can work that out I may do it.

Shaine, you have a PM.
Looking forward to another Dunn Memorial! This was a *much* better event than I expected it to be last year (no offense to those running it, I just didn't know what to expect :D) and I'm going to do everything I can to make it back this year. Shaine puts on a great show and the course is really something. Plus we get to raise money for a worthy charity.
Make plans for this one, folks. It's a good time!

Jun 30 2008, 05:15 PM
Correcto! I will be getting the mowing done on Thursday and Friday and the course will be ready to go. We will only play 18 holes this saturday since my land has seen such little attention through this process, but next month it will be ready for the 21 hole layout we use for the tournament. Tee off is at 9am and we will have 3 divisions Int, Adv and Pro. $10 gets you in with $2 going to the tournament and $1 to the ace fund and $7 goes to the payout.
Hope to see you all there.

For those that haven't been, this is a really fun and challenging course to play.
Shaine, will the course be available for a second round after the singles mini? either casual or maybe some doubles?

I would like to say a huge thanks to everyone that made it out this weekend. We ended up with 36 at the first mini ever held at the course and we raised $130 added cash for the event in October. With that exciting start and the commitment of Zone Driven to sponsor our event this weekend we are well on our way to making this event the best to date. Everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves and the course was in the best shape it has been it so far.
We did have someone ring the chanins on 16, but no ace. The $36 set aside for the ace pot will roll to the August 30th draw doubles event we will have.
Grab your friends and get out to play the course again or for the first time on August 30th.
Congrats to J.D., Steve Parker, Sam Bell and Haleigh Shephard on their wins.

After much thought, debate and prayer, we have decided to move forward with the sanctioning process for the 2008 Java Classic. This year's event (pending approval) will be a one day C-tier event. Our focus on this event has been to keep it a charity fundraiser and a service event for Dunn Memorial Baptisit Church, and that will remain our goal. However, we have heard the voices of the players over the past two years and in order to keep the Classic growing we are moving forward with the sanctioning.
In addition to the news of the sanctioning, I am also very excited to announce that Dynamic Discs will be coming down to handle all of the payout and merchendise sales for the event. Jeremy and I have worked together to try and make this event the very best it can be and with Jeremy and DD involved, I am sure everyone will be pleased with the payout and merchendise selection.
We will be holding our monthly mini on Sat. August 30th and will be playing draw doubles this month. Cost is $10 per player with $2 of your entry fee going to the classic. I hope to see you all there!!

I would like to publicly thank Play it Again Sports Carrollton for their sponsorship for this year's Java Classic. This is PIAS Carrollton's second year to support out event. Make sure if you are in need of any plastic to stop by and check them out if you are in the area.

I know I keep doing this, but I would like to thank Chiropractic Connection in Allen, TX for their cash sponsorship to the Java Classic this morning. Sponsors are really starting to roll in and the added cash just keeps going up. we are well on our way to the goal of $1000 added cash for the event.
Also, for those that are going to be in town this weekend, do not forget to come join us for the mini on Saturday morning at Harmony hills(see earlier thread for driving directions). We will be playing draw doubles and the fee is $10 per person. Once again $7 goes to the payout, $2 to aded cash for the tournament and $1 to the ace fund which will start at $50 for Saturday. We will play one round of 21 hole best shot doubles from a mix of long and short tees this weekend.

Just wanted to say a big thank to everyone that came out this weekend to play in the mini. We had 29 play draw doubles this weekend. Course looked and played great and everyone had fun, plus we added another $60 to the added cash for the tournament and bumped the rolling ace fund up to $80. Discs and equipment should be in today, so go to www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com) and register for the tournament and pick up a CFR disc while you are at it.

I have started selling the CFR Glow Wraiths, CRF XCal's and Rocs that I got in last week. If any of you are interested in supporting the Java Classic through the purchase of tournament discs PM me or show up to the mini in McKinney tonight(pending the weather) I will have them for sale.
I will also be selling them next Saturday at the final mini at Harmony Hill. If you would like to play the course one final time before the event on October 11, come out and join us for divisional singles on Sept. 20. $10 gets you in.

For those of you AM's who are thinking about playing the Java Classic this year let me add a little sweetness to the pot to help make your decision a little easier.
Today, I purchased 50 copies of the new Clash at Winthrop Gold DVD from Billy Crump. The first 50 registered AM's to sign up for the event will get a free copy of the DVD in their players package.
We already have 6 that will benefit from this which leaves 44 spots left to reveive the DVD. Register early at Title Disc or contact me through a PM or at 214-577-1119. I will also be out at the Lake this weekend and can take your registration there.

Ok, now that I have sweetend up the pot for those AM's that are thinking about playing the Java Classic this year, now let me do the same for the open division.
For the Men's Open division I am going to add a minimum of $1000 to the open payout.
Hopefully, this will encourage a few of you pro's to head on up to North Texas and check out our little event.

Time to get signed up for this event! Shaine is working his butt off to make this the best Java Classic ever! Dynamic Discs is very excited to be working together with Shaine to ensure that this event will be run as smooth as all DD events have been in the past! All amateur players will have plenty of plastic and merchandise to choose from at this event. There will be some new DD shirts available and plenty of Champion Boss to go around for everyone!
Dynamic Discs is adding at least a $100 in sponsorship for this event and Jeff Ohnesorge from Lubbock is also a $100 sponsor for the event so the purse keeps getting larger for both the pro's and am's.
Don't miss out on this awesome one day C-Tier event! Look forward to seeing everyone again this next weekend! If you have any special requests for plastic just let me know and I'll be sure to bring it.

WOW, what an event! I don't even know where to begin! First off...it's 10pm and I'm back to Tulsa home safely! That's after two great rounds of 21 hole golf on a truly AMAZING course...ring of fire, ace pot throw off, raffle, AND awards! Seriously the BEST course I have ever played! I loved the fact that nearly every hole had some sort of obstacle or OB...roped off fairways, elevated baskets, hay island, water, fences, etc! (Although I wish I could've played both pin placements) Absolutely beautiful course!
Thanks to Shaine, the 20 plus volunteers/spotters, Dynamic Discs and all other sponsors. The entire event ran so smoothly. Thanks for taking care of the ladies! The voucher system is appreciated, and thanks to DD for having a great selection of merchandise to choose from.
I will definitely be back in 2009! And I can guarantee that Kyle and I will be spreading the word...expect a much bigger Okie representation at the 4th annual! Huge improvements each year so far...I can't wait to see what next year has in store!
I enjoyed meeting some new Texas ladies. Thanks for making me feel welcome (even though Misty wanted to put horse manure in my DG bag!) Congrats to Miles for a great win!
I am so happy I made the trip to McKinney this weekend. It was well worth every minute of it! Thank you!
Hope to see some of you in Tulsa in two weeks for the OKLAHOMA OPEN!!! Oct 25-26th

I will be getting scores posted to the tour page today, I hope. I was out of town camping with my son over the weekend and had no access to the computer. I am in the classroom today and will try and get it uploaded before the day is over.
