Whats the Pros Cons to these? I would like to go to a backpack but cant decide between the two of these. :(

Right now in the bottom of my Revo bag I have 16 discs.
In the top compartment I have a towel, birdie bag, snacks and suncreen. The top compartment is also where I store most of my junk (keys, wallet, cell phone, and iPod). On rainy days the top becomes home to a jacket too.
In the side pockets I carry two 32 oz bottles, an umbrella and a stool. Over the weekend when it was 93 I carried another bottle in the top.
The upside...I carry everything I need.
The downside...it can weigh over 20lbs.
The only other downside is that a fullsizw backpack like the Revo bag is hot on the back in a Tennessee summer day.
I balance that against the ability to carry a lot of water.

I would go with the revo bag . i have a gateway backpack and in about a year its pretty torn up. i wish i would have went with the revo.

I didnt think there was 32 oz bottle holders on the Revo backpack, I have seen those mesh pockets but I bet those break pretty easy. I have a Gateway backpack bag that I have had for 2 yrs and I can say that it is still in good shape and I tie my dog leash to it when I play. Overall the Gateway backpack is like a regular size backpack that you can throw on your back real quick and the Revolution backpack is like a backpack that you carry when hiking a mountain.

nothing better than a revolution. I want a backpack bag but there is no reason to get rid of my carolina bag that's in perfect shape after 4 years

I disagree with the statement about the Gateway Bag. I have had a Gateway Bag my entire playing career and never had a problem. The revo backpack bag is good but who needs to carry there entire house with them.

I have to recommend the Gateway backpack. I've had mine about 4 years and used it in searing Texas humidity and heat, thunderstorms, mud, rocks and gravel, more than a few frustration tosses and kicks and even a couple of trips through the washing machine. It's held up great. You can easily carry 15 discs in it and jam a couple more in you need to. It's got 2 bottle holders and multiple pockets on the front and side.
You can't go wrong with the Gateway backpack.

Same here 4 years and no wear. Oh and over 85 tournaments. :D

I would concur and say the biggest flaw in the Revo pack is the bottle holders. They are made of a relatively week mesh material that I'm hoping will last this year. I've only had the pack since V-day '07 and the mesh is showing a lot of wear. However, you can carry a lot of extra stuff with the backpack and it sits great on the back compared to bags with straps. This is coming for a person with a questionable back though. A friend of mine has a gateway backpack and has had it for YEARS. Still uses it. Can't put as much in it and only has 1 bottle holder but I would say it is very durable. It all depends on what you're looking for. If the gateway pack had 2 REAL bottle holders I'd buy it for sure. I only use both bottle holders for tournaments but it's very nice to have that option.

We have a new bag we are prototyping which is a cross between a Tour/Player Bag and a Backpack.
This bag should be the answer to those who like all the storage of the Tour/player, but want the dual strap and support that comes with the back pack. This new bag is so form fitting to the back, even loaded with discs it doesn't sag or bounce around when walking. It comes with 2 water bottle holders on each side, one on each side has a Zipper if you want more storage for Keys, phone or your cash, instead of more water. Like the Player and tour, it comes with 2 large storage areas on each side an exterior putter pocket that holds 2 putters and the other standard features of the Tour and Player!
Price will be comparable to the Back Pack and they should be available by the end of the month on our new retail website that will sell disc golf accessories.
We dont have a name yet, maybe we will have a contest for a name and give away a bag filled with Gateway putters :cool:

How many discs will it hold? I'm still using an old Innova Deluxe Bag, and that thing is tearing up and I've fit it with all that I can hold because I like to carry doubles of everything. I had to reconfigure where the straps go because where they normally are, both sides broke off.
If there's a possible contest coming up I might as well throw some names in now...
Colossus, Hercules, Jumbo, Fat Pack (probably too offensive)

I had one of the Gateway Backpack bags in 03 and never had a problem with it. Since I have gotten the updated version which is even better and have had that for about 2 years now and still looks like its new. No straps ripping, no holes, great bag. I HIGHLY ENDORSE IT!!!

I have come across a backpack bag that has a built in fold-up chair. one less thing to carry but i have never seen one for sale. It was pretty old-school. The guy who has it has been a Pro for 20 + years and said he bought like 10 of them years ago when he heard the company was going out of business. Not even sure what the brand name was, but it is cool as hell.

I dont know, Bag and Pack are different things....a tour bag is exactly what it says, however a tour backpack bag aka a "The Tour Pak" is definitely different. I like it.....Tour Pak LOL

Ok, how bout the Super Tour Big'N Phat Pack?
Although we have completely hijacked this thread- the talk of a new bag from Gateway has peaked my interest. I've been wanting to switch over to a Gateway bag and I think this new product may be the ticket. with Dave's description I started thinking of some of the many options-
"We have a new bag we are prototyping which is a cross between a Tour/Player Bag and a Backpack. This bag should be the answer to those who like all the storage of the Tour/player, but want the dual strap and support that comes with the back pack. This new bag is so form fitting to the back, even loaded with discs it doesn't sag or bounce around when walking. Gateways current line up consists of the Starter, Weekend, Player , Tour, and Backpack
Here are a couple of my ideas-
Along the line of a cross between the tour/player bag and backpack- The Hybrid, crossbreed, combo, or composite
Names that accentuate the bags size- The sasquatch, Hercules (big and tough), colossal, or my personal favorite the Brobdingnagian- Of extraordinary size and power. Well maybe not that last one.
Some other names that I think are classic and will serve the bag well for a long time- Medalist (certainly a bag that will carry many to the top of the podium), Paramount (The new standard for tournament bags) , Elite, or Performance Pack.
My last idea pays tribute to some of the Gateway players whove done so much for the brand of gateway. Others companies have paid tribute to states that produce some great players and courses, but no one has created a signature bag for the players who will use and promote the equipment. Im thinking of naming it- The kid, Double G, Mac pack (Somebody else mentioned this) named after John E Mc or David Mac, Fro pack or the Nikko.
