We've moved the date this year to July 18, 19 and 20 for pros and July 19 and 20 for ams so the weather should make for a grand display of the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Registration is up and running at www.PDGAsignup.com. (http://www.PDGAsignup.com.) We have room for 144 pros and 144 ams and we are already up to 105 registered players. Come see why this tournament is consistently one of the top events in the world.
For more information go to:
www.orsdiscgolf.com (http://www.orsdiscgolf.com) or

We hope to see you there.

The tournament already has 158 registered players! Due to national scheduling conflicts we were unable to make it an NT event this year. However, expect the same level of payout, course prep, and hospitality from past years. Traveling players make it a point to come back year after year... sign up and find out why!

All 144 AM slots have already been filled! Friendly reminder: AMs playing Pro can accept their winnings in script to retain AM status. The pro field is filling rapidly... don't delay and miss out!

As you are probably aware, the Am side of the Fling is FULL! So, in an effort to add more flexability and capacity for the event, we are now offering Trophy Only for Pro divisions at the Advanced Am rate of $60. If you decide to choose this option, you would play with in the Pro division of your choosing (Friday, Sat & Sun... 4 rounds instead of the Am 3), and recieve an AM player's pack (Ams get more stuff than Pros... right now it's looking like an Omni-Dry shirt, a Nalgene, a disc, and a patch... things are still on order, so this isn't final ;). You would not be elidgeable for cash payout, but you would be for the trophies. To be clear, this option means you would be playing pro... not a special am division.

can you list the ams playing trophy only ?
and when you receive the info, please post how many usdgc spots this might award.

Brock, the number that I have seen was 5 USDGC qualifier spots for the BSF. I'm not sure if there is a way (on the PDGA tourney upload) to show which AMs playing pro are playing trophy only. Shoot Teresa an e-mail at bsf.reg@orsdiscgolf.com and she can send you the info.

To clarify the registration options for AMs further, they are:
1) Am playing pro, pays full pro entry fee. If the player cashes, they can accept cash and turn pro -or- accept their winnings in script and retain AM status.
2) Am playing pro, trophy only. The player will receive an AM players pack (1 more item than the pro players pack) and receive a trophy should they finish in the top 3.
3) Am who wants to play Am. The TD is maintaining a wait list, e-mail bsf.reg@orsdiscgolf.com for priority treatment. Forum posts do not constitute an official request.
The entire tournament staff hopes to see you there!

The pro field is filling rapidly due to the new registration options for AMs. The work parties are getting the course ready (new benches, new tee signs, mowing, clean up, etc.) and everything is looking great! The course should be spectacular... don't miss out!

There are only 21 spots left in Open, and it is filling fast! Do not hesitate to register online. We added 5 registrations today and received 2 in the mail so this number is shrinking fast.
Its got everything you could want, Tee times for the Pros on Saturday and Sunday. Pros have the courses to themselves on Friday for the first two rounds. The BSF is a USDGC qualifier and good portions of the higher rated Touring Pros are back east or in Europe. Distance stakes marked on every hole, flags in the baskets to help with sighting, manicured fairways, difficult courses averaging around 59 SSA the last three years, and lots of volunteer to help spot your discs. There will be a great players party, a stellar offering of prizes at the ring of fire, and the raffle this year has some nice items up for grabs, and as always a unique players pack even for the Pro's!. Check the website for updated info Beaver State Fling (http://beaverstatefling.com)
Come check us out, Milo McIver State Park and the Beaver State Fling will not disappoint you!

That depends do you mean disc golf wise?
I would seriously check out the courses and get in a few practice rounds. Are you playing on the Pro side or Am Side?
We will be having a doubles round on Thursday at 5:00 pm!
If you are playing Pro, I would take advantage of Thursday to practice, and then on Friday play both rounds and get some sleep, you will only play one round on Saturday and Sunday, with tee times, so it leave time to explore the area.
The Columbia Gorge is amazing and fun to check out. Mt Hood is pretty sweet as well, and there is lots of snow up there still. Our rivers are pretty full of water right now due to snow melt so they are raging so its fun to check out some Kayaking action. I also heard that the Columbia Gorge Games will be going on at the same time frame as the BSF and they take place in Hood River, so that could be fun to check out. Thanks! Sounds great. I'll be playing pro, thursday is definitely my day for practice since we play friday. But I might check out the gorge after rounds on the weekend. Sounds amazing. Thanks again.

There will be a players party / fly mart starting at 6:00 on Saturday so you may want to keep that on your schedule. As for disc golf, Pier Park in downtown Portland is great and represents what most traveling golfers think of as NW disc golf (Large trees, etc.). It's also one of the nicest courses inside a city's limits that I've ever played. Since you are competing as a pro, this might be a nice thing to check out on Sunday evening or Monday morning (depending on your travel plans). I agree with Mike: you will absolutely want to practice both courses. Both Mike and I will be out there on Thursday setting up... see you then!

Greg Barsby shot a CRAZY -12 (48) on Milo West to tie the course record. Schultz did it in 2006, but the layout is harder this year. I seen him nail an awesome spike hyzer eagle from about 250ft out. I'm guessing it'll be rated about a 1084.

Looks like Barsby's round rating of 1084 will come in at third best all time for courses in the 54-59.9 SSA range.

NorCal tournament players sweep through the Northwest. You could argue that Stevie Rico is a NorCal'er. Fiedler and Manley definitely are NoCa's. Thumper's a norcal veteran. Great victories to all of you. I'll bet that's one vibin' tourney you guys got up there. Hope I don't have to wait until I retire to play it. \
Looks like Jimmy Oates stepped it up in preparation for the WORLDS by playing OPEN. Way to go, Gregg. Devil of a round.

The layout is not necessarily harder, we changed two pins on that side, 7 West and 9 West. Seven West was extended and 9 West had the basket moved away from the trees on the right hand side. It will be interesting after crunching the scoring numbers to see if the West side played more difficult than last year. Our goal this year was to even out the two courses and have the SSA for both to be within a half a stroke of eah other. Either way both of them are course records for their respective course layouts and both were unbelievable to watch! Barry's was to hold onto the win and Greg's was to climb into second and secure a USDGC bid. Awesome showing Greg, thanks for the excitement!
