The members of the Forsyth County Disc Golf Club have been working hard to present North Carolina's oldest PDGA tournament. Innova has donated first place trophies for each division. ZoneDriven has donated CTP prizes for the entire first round! The second round should be full of prizes donated from our other sponsors. The Ace Pool, which is included in the entry fee, will be $1 per round, with carryovers between rounds. You can download the flyer from the website triaddiscgolf.com. Horizon Park Classic
June 7 & 8, 2008

Please pre-register as the field is limited to 90 participants.

This will be a two day, four round disc golf tournament at Horizons Park in Winston Salem.

A mandatory players meeting is at 10:00 AM, with the first round starting at 10:30 AM.

All PDGA divisions with three or more players will be available. All players will receive a HPC mini marker.

A First Place Trophy will be awarded in each division, plus the Theresa King Award to the best female golfer.

Entry fees: Pro divisions, $40; Advanced divisions, $30; other divisions $25.

Non-PDGA members must add $10. The entry fee includes a $1 per round ace pool contribution.

A special room rate for disc golfers is available at the Days Inn, 5218 Germanton Road (336)744-5755.

Camping is available at Knotty Pines Disc Golf Country Club near Clemmons.

The course will be in the same layout that was used for last year's HPC. It will be in this set up on Tuesday June 3rd for the Tuesday Twilight Doubles Tour event that the club is hosting. It will not be set up again until Saturday morning. This set up adds a hole to the front nine (between 6&7) and makes #11 350 ft and #13 420 ft. It takes out hole #12. P&R has done a major landscaping job cleaning up the row of trees to right of current hole #11 & #12, making this set up even better.

My girl and I are getting married the Saturday of this event (06.07.08) in Greensboro, bunch of partcipants are coming over for the ceramony after Saturdays rounds, it dont get more family then that!!!

thanks for reminding me of a slip in a run that cost me playing in USDGC :mad:

stupid wrist...

that thing still randomly hurts. It hurt like 3 times in VA this past weekend.

FCDGC Correct me if I am wrong please. If the set up is the same as last year.

Hole #4 plays from the fence in a straight line to the basket (this brings the large tree on the right of the original fairway into play.)

After playing Hole #6 you go over to the tree line where the mowing stops past #5 tee Pad. From there you throw to #10�s basket.

Next you go back and play #7,#8

Hole #9 has a temp basket on #10�s tee pad. Making it about 50� longer.

Next hole is #11 last year a temp basket was set out in 12�s fairway to the right of the turn making it a 300� to 350� hole. ( I know is more than 300�)

Hole #12 is not played.

Tee pad for Hole # 13 is near the basket for #12. making #13 up hill 400� plus.

Hole #14 Barn Hole. a temp basket is placed to the left past the evergreens near the large hardwood tree. This protects Hole #15�s tee pad

If I remember correctly that about covers it. Part me would love to play it as it is. But
Hole #9 and Hole #14 could get people hurt. I wish there was some way to Play Hole #10.

Horizon is the first course ever installed in North Carolina. It's a very short course. But is a beautiful course. The park as a hole is about 600 acres. A view of small foothill mountain range in the back ground.

I plan on giving BigRock MiniThumber a run. My Ankle is healing up. My timing is back. The putter is back. I think I can tie the baggers cup up this month.

By the way it always great to hear from you.

We can't come out Saturday because of work. And I work Sunday too. But Nikki will be out there late morning Sunday and I will be out there late morning Monday (my only day off). We're glad Dawn's playing, she's good competition, which makes it fun. We can't wait.

Wyatt is mostly correct. The new #7 plays to a temp basket, not #10. Current hole #9 and #10 do not change. The temp basket #14 is in front of the Juniper trees, but near the big trees. The TD should be out at the park on Saturday as it his dog's brithday and he told me he was taking Mizzou to the Horizons dog park.

Juniper... cedar... evergreen are all correct terms for the row of small conifers on #14 (watch out for the yellow jackets!!!:eek:)

There is usualy a tournament almost every weekend here in NC.

Had a great time playing doubles, very windy. Congrats to the winners. Andrw coggin is playing top notch golf. Patty Wiggins, well, it runs in the family. She almost aced hole 7. She has been awarded the official Title of Bagget. She plays pretty good.

Patty Wiggins Blow us away. The shot on #7 was not just an near Ace. she made her own putt for her first Birdie.

Andrew was playing hot. I couldn't be any more proud of him.

I will say that Brian McRee has to be the fav in Open. Of course Lil Wigg on site, so anything can happen. Krall, and his 921 rating, and World Championship has got to be a favorite in Intermediate. I think Snapp is on for his first advance win, and Mini Thumber beats Jerry Roach, and the Cupcake play's well to take the women's division. I have every intention with my wifes help, of handing out watermelon pieces around hole 7 or 8 if thats not a rule violation.

It was an awsome tournament. It was great playing with all the players, and seeing all the families. Heat was on, and I was glad I had lots of water. Congrats to all the winners, expecially Lil Cogg, and Kenny. Way to go. Big Wig winning the Advance Old Pharts, and Patty cashing in women's. What a tournament. As for the rivalry with Wyatt, it was close, and one of us was the victor. Now we recover,

Thanks guys for the Kudos - I almost didn't start the 4th round. I really wanted to keep my string of DNF's intact, but Todd made me play. Thanks Todd for all the efforts and all you do for disc golf in NC. Wyatt, Rocky and all the Geists and Coggins - as always it was great to share time with you and Jerry that goes for you too. I hope too see you all again soon.

Congrats to Andrew and Kenney, Arron, Mcree and all the winners, and to my wife who played in her first PDGA event and did better than any of us expected. Manny, David hung with the Pro's pretty well. He shot 44 down for the event which got him 3rd. Had he played advanced, the same score would have put him 9 in the lead I think. He's testing the waters a bit. It will be back to advanced next weekend for the Points Bonanza.

I'm taking this as a win for Andrew? SShweet!!! Congrats Andrew from all of us over here! Your a great golfer and getting better daily. You keep it up and someday you'll add a Pro World Champion title to go with your Jr. World title. Congrats to proud papa also! I can see Wyatt glowing from here. What a weekend. Just perfect all the way around, from playing, lodging, competition, weather, and the fine company and food. Manny, I found your Wraith, nice shot. Might be a distance record. Yes the youth in Carolina are distributing out spankings. Luckily, Andrew will be moving up soon, I believe, even though he is only 12. If his rating ever catch up with the way he is playing, he'll be looking at qualifying for the USDG soon. Lil Wigg will be there this year making another Historic jump. The Bagger cup will probably be retained by me this year, however, they're are several that want to compete for it next year. Manny, you missed out on a great event. Looking forward to next year. If it's close to my birthday next year, my goal is to have a pig pickin for all. Yep, let's do it.

I would guess #14, the long uphill hole w/ ob 8ft to the right, only driver i threw last year

I know rd 2 he missed 7-8, and 13. Can you believe that 7, and 8. Mac was on fire. With hole 13 that close to OB, I think it should be a par 4 anyway. Unless your real close to the basket, you really can't go for it. When I was young, I got spankings, now thatI'm older, Kids are doing the spanking. OK state games, here we come. Time for Andrew to move up if he tied the advance division. Now he can go give the advanced guys some spankings. Maybe next year we'll plan to make at least one NC tourney. If we drove all the way to Bowling Green for a tourney, certainly we can drive a few more hours to NC. I'd be a shoe in for the Rec. division myself!
