Anybody else in a Willits state of mind? Arguably one of the most fun and unique west coast Nor Cal experiences. Who is coming?

See ya there, Mike.

I'll be bringing Mr. Miller, Mr. Joplin, & Mr. Garcia with me.

Mike Miller and I went together last year and had a great time, of course.
The night golf was especially fun.

I can't imagine you'll be using your cart though. I'm not even going to bring mine.

Cheers,

- JPB

Do we have to check in Friday? I am registered and may come early Saturday because Open doesn't tee off in early A.M. I am guessing that I don't need to be there Friday.

Thanks, Mark. :D

Yeah, that was kind of surreal.
I shot a mediocre first round of -3, started the second round on hole 6 and only had two birdies... until I got to hole 15.
I shocked myself by birdieing ("birdiing"? "birdying"?) 15, then went on to shock myself further by also getting the next six holes!
I then missed 4 but hit 5.

I got up the next day and went down to Low Gap for practice and was still on fire, and was canning stuff all over the place. I came back to KOA and had a respectable -7 in the last round by just staying focused and playing safe.

What did I eat?
If I knew, it's all I'd ever eat.... /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Cheers,

On further reflection, it had to be the KOA Kampground pancake breakfast.
Everything else I ate was supplied by my direct competitors.

I'd like to thank the KOA staff for putting up with us for another year, Kevin, George, and staff for running another great event, and especially thank the genius player who suggested having the group on 13 wait for the group on 12 to tee off.
That should be adopted as a standing rule for the KOA course. It completely eliminated the back-up problem on 12.
There was still the back-up on 15, but I don't think anything can be done about that....

Man am I bummed I had to miss it!

But I had to play the Steady Ed, which I missed last year but played KOA :D

mmm pancakes! /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

But what an event the KOA Jam is...It's the closest I've seen to the Browns-n-Bows venue that we lost because of rip-off numb-skulls. Night golf, camping on site.
Disc Golfer heaven. :D

Next year I hope to do the KOA/Steady Ed extravaganza! Camping at each of the local hot spots in-between each event and playing every course in the area, which includes the Anderson Brewing Co!

Who's in.....? We can start planning now....

Bam! :D:D:D

The wife doesn't like me doing two weekends in a row, so I chose Willits.
Apparently, I chose wisely.

If they are still a week apart next year, I'll see you at Lakeport, as I've never played that course and don't relish playing MPM at Willits. Though, if I were to play as well as I did last weekend, I guess it would be ok.

Actually, I'm in the same boat. Last year my son ended up with plans for non-disc golf camping trip the same weekend as LakePort. Low and behold, I immediately noticed that the KOA was the weekend before, and I opted for that in lieu of missing an event altogether. It was great because I got to experience the Jam for the first time.

Now I'm either going to have to beg borrow and steal to make them both or alternate from year to year. Choices, choices.......

Thanks mark, ya i had a fun weekend, that course is pretty fun(ny) to play, with every hole within reach, my -13 felt fine!
I learned how to make my putts, (or they learned how to stay!)
no lakeport for me!

Yeah, Greg, nice shootin' in that last round.
-13 is impressive no matter how you slice it (unofficially rated 1058!)

Did you by chance go to Mission Pizza for lunch?
It turns out that's actually what I ate before my best round.
I highly recommend their lunch special.
Seemed to work for me....
