I am starting this with hope that members will discuss thoughts about the rebates, how much they got, or what they plan to do with the money.
My wife and I received $1500 and I am putting it all against the principal of our mortgage.

Here is some other advise I received but decided not to heed. :D

subject: rebate

the federal government is sending each and every one of us a $600 rebate. if we spend that money at wal-mart it will go to china. if we spend it on gasoline it will go to the arabs. if we purchase a computer it will go to india. if we purchase fruits and vegetables it will go to mexico, honduras, and guatemala. if we purchase a good car it will go to japan or germany. if we buy useless crap it will go to taiwan and none of it will help the american economy.

the only way to keep that money here is to buy prostitutes and beer, since these are the only products still produced in the us. thank you for your help.

And a response:

Oh contraire brother Dave.

Based on my detailed research about 22.5% of prostitutes are mexican/ south americun, 23% are Korean, south asian etc. About 12.5% actually originate from the combination of noxious vapors at dusk in the vicinity of Harry Hines and Walnut Hill in west Dallas. Around sunrise they vaporize again and the cycle repeats daily.

Tecate, Foster's, Corona, etc aren't from these-here parts.

For maximum eco-stimulus effect, I suggest you send your check to Mr. Jim up here in Big D and I'll make sure it's put to good use.

Ska - I've been looking at water softening and every search I see says that anything besides the salt is bogus. Magnets, is just one. This one is a new one for me. I know there are some tests that can be done and a gov agency that controls this. Has this new system been tested?

I have good credit so the interest rate is only 3% but still, 3% is 3%!

Yeah, I feel very stimulated! And so does my economy :D
