The double R is proud to be part of this year's Flying Solo Open. This will be a C-tier event 1 day at Rivery park in Georgetown Texas. this will be 2 rounds with lunch onsite. Please mark this on your calendars. we are accepting any and all sponsorship. I understand that this is on father's day but what better way to honor my brother then to try and raise some $$ for his son's education on such a great day. I know Tony will be looking down with all smiles. so come on out and enjoy the course, friends and good time.
I will post more details once they start to fall in place.

still looking for sponsors.
Dear Potential Sponsor,
I want to share the opportunity with you to be involved in a very good cause and a high quality event which will benefit my nephew who lost his father last year to illness. My nephew is 12 years old and the last thing my brother asked before passing was for my siblings and I to do our best to see that his son has an opportunity to better his life through college, so that is why I am contacting you. The Flying Solo memorial tournament is in its 4th year. Last year we raised almost $2500 and are hoping to surpass that amount this year. The tournament will be held at the Rivery Disc golf course in beautiful Georgetown Texas. So come on out meet my Nephew and watch some of the best disc golf this state has to offer. We are actively seeking sponsorship and have been successful in reaching some of our goals but would love to go over last years raised $$ amount. Which bring me to why I am contacting you; I would like to invite you and your company the opportunity to share your product with a growing field of golfers and a customer base of your product. I am unsure of the types of assistance your company is capable of providing, so I can only ask for the world and will settle for nothing. But if you are interested in being a part of my nephews future I will be forever in your debt. I would like to thank you for your time and assistances. You can contact me at 512-567-9276.
Sincerely yours,
Chris Ware

On their way by priority mail and you should get them by Sat or Monday.
You can use them as a set or sell them 1 by 1 if you want.
Only 100 Series Supercolor BUZZZ, 75 Champion Destroyers and 50 Star Xcalibers were made, and they retail for 25 each for the GSSS Events.

Thanks for continuing to support us here in Texas Keith! :D Be sure to let us know when we can return the favor.
I already have had WATERLOOOOOOOO listed as a Silver ($100) sponsor for the Georgia's Super Six Series (GSSS) which are Six Events, six weeks apart (as you can tell from my sponsorship of events around the country where I always sponsor hole #6, the # 6 is important to me.) As you can see I'm a glutton for punishment as 1 tournament a year wasn't enough suffering for me.
Event #4 is coming up on June 21st, and I figured I would just trade out with you for the 95th Waterloooooooo event later this year.
If you ever read any of the tournament stuff I post, you would already have known this. ;)

ok fixed you matt you are in MA1.
Kyle do not follow those directions as that will have you parking on the wrong side of 35 and walking really far. You want to be on the south side of 35. coming south on 35 take the 261 A exit and go throught the light up to the wendys take a right and about 1/4 of a mile down the road you will see a turn on your right that will take you down a hill to the parking lot.
Waterloo and our friend from Arizona thank you for guys for your continued support

The Double R Disc Golf Club will be holding 2 work days prior to the event. This & next Saturday (7th (Waco - I know, sorry) & 14th) starting @ 9:00 ( or as early as you can get there), bring loppers, weed eaters, mowers, gloves, etc (no chainsaws). The club will provide lunch & Ware will have some beer for after.
The Double R Sunday ace pot will be open to current Club members during the morning round @ SOLO - that means the $5 per player & $500 Club ace pot could be yours!! Donating half to the charity will bring you good karma all year. :)

Jun 06 2008, 02:07 PM
Negative, it's a Sunday morning acepot, and since we are playing at our scheduled course(Rivery 3rd Sunday) it is in effect. We have historically done this for current members.

Jun 06 2008, 04:50 PM
The extra $500 will stay with the Double R if it's not hit by a current Club member during the 1st round on Sunday. No you may not hit the ace & then join the Club. Yes you may join Sunday before your 1st hole. $25 to join, $10 to renew. Yes there will be a confirmed list of who's current with the Club - if you're not sure ask BEFORE the tournament. No Chris will not be aable to take the Club sign up @ the tournament & no you can't write one check for Club dues & tournament enrty fee. Please see another Double R cabinet member if you need to join/renew on Sunday @ the tournament(Edman, Lala, Big Arm, or JD. Any of us will be happy to help with any Club related stuff until we become players in the tournament. :)

The mowers did a nice job Thursday morning and hit a lot with their weed eaters. I don't know how you got them to do it but that was awesome.
They even cut some paths that aren't really part of the course like a path from hole 5 to the picnic table hole (13?). Maybe that's to make it easier for carts or something.

Thanx to the Ware's parents - your folks ROCK, Cware, Ware2 & his son, Byron, Tony, Shawn, Russell, Keith, KT, Goblin, Erik, Edman, Clint & his brother, Parker & I helped a little too. 18 people, 3 riding mowers, 6+ weedeater, a crazy bush hog machine, saws, lopper, & trash bags made this place shine. No need for another day, just a few odds & ends - maybe Tuesday. Now - just come & play Sunday the 15th for Solo. :)

OK what a HUGE turnout 73 players on fathers day who would have believed that.. I will post scores as soon as my father sends them to me tomorrow..
Olse wins open and also hits an ace on hole 6 with a nice hyzer..for a added $120 to his $205 payout
El chile wins master also aces hole #10 but his was during the first round where he was eligible for the added double R $500 ace so he netted $620 plus $160 for payout minus a little for his card mates. One classy guy.
Erron salazar aces hole # 2 his last hole and last throw of the tourney to take $120 and sneak into last place cash. for $40 more. .
Laura Coffey wins Open women.
Laura Hovery wins adv women
Again I cannot say THANK YOU enough to the people that sacrificed warming up or taking a nice break at lunch instead of doing things for the tournament. also my mom and dad for all they do. I will post full scores and the amount raised for the charity tomorrow . the real reason we were all there..
