Great news! The rec. coordinator for the parks and rec dept. has given clearance for us to put on a tournament to help raise some extra funds for the course. Yes the city is paying for the course but anything we can contribute to help show our desire to get the course in the ground and that it means something to us the golfers.
I'm shooting for a one day 2 round event on July 12th. That is the Sat. before the Fahrenheit Fling.
Anyone and everyone that can help supply baskets for this event will be greatly appreciated. I am in the process of trying to find some sponsors so anyone wanting to help out there as well, "bring it on". That will help increase the prize fund.
Right now I'm thinking $20 for all Am. divisions and $30 for Open. $10 from each entry will go to the course fund and be presented to the Parks and Rec. Dept.
Since this is not a sanctioned event or a sanctioned course as of yet, all payouts will be in COLD HARD CASH!!
Anyone willing or wanting to help or with any suggestions please contact me, Matt Weinberg 817-909-0207

I can't condone such nonsense. I agree with Chris. If it's a fund raiser then 86 the cash payout.

Since it's non sanctioned i will be playing AM. :D

Yes it's possible, I would be happy to work with you Lee.
I was unsure of how to get ahold of alot of plastic that fast and thought that a cash payout would entice some folks to make the trip.
There is a good reason I asked for help and suggestions as this will be my first trip down T.D. lane.
Thanks for the offer of the chainstar, now we need 16 more.
I should be able to arrange to have members and directors from
the parks & rec as well as city council. The county also has 2 or 3 nice pieces of land designated to be parks that they are doing nothing with.

Along w/ Miles, I have 2 baskets w/ inner chains but someone will have to come get them also. Oh, and take FULL responsibility for them if anything were to happen.

This goes for mine as well. And mine is a discatcher sport with no inner chains.

UPDATE: due to a very hectic work schedule and numerous upcoming tournaments the tournament I wanted to have will have to be put off for a couple of months.
I'm continuing to work with the city and with any luck we can make some more progress soon.
I'm trying to get the activities director from the P&R to come out to Crowley this weekend. (he's our biggest supporter from the city government contingent)
