Hello friends!

You may have heard through the grapevine that I was lucky enough to win the grand prize trip to the Japan Open from HeroDiscs.

I can't believe it! I have always wanted to go but the only time I could have justified it was 2006. The problem was we were all busy with Am Worlds to ever consider a trip like that.

It was an awesome surprise but it actually came at a rough time for us with Ryne and starting the Coffee Shop which is opening any day now, so we have a lot of money tied up. Basically what I am saying is that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get a free plane ticket over to Japan and I'm not too proud to beg when it comes to this opportunity to represent Tulsa in the greatest disc golf event not in Roc Hill.

I am selling off a lot of my disc collection (http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZfrizzbeecafe) on eBay to try and help pay for the trip. I know times are tough with the gas prices high as ever but if you could spare a few bucks and spend it on some fine plastic I sure would appreciate it. I hate to part with some of this stuff but I hope it ends up in good hands.

I am also going to be adding some great FrizzBeeCafe coffee packages up to the website FrizzBeeCafeCoffee.com (http://frizzbeecafecoffee.com) in the next week. Plus I will be selling coffee at the Tulsa NT flymart and hopefully in the mornings.

Domo arigato! If you can help an old brother out it would be much appreciated.

I have a sweet Champ Beast for you Slack from the 2003 SoCal Championships...I'll get you a pic soon.

Here is a chance to win a 2008 Japan Open ROC of your own. These discs are the ones I bought that got me in the Japan Open trip contest. I am going to raffle off 1 disc for every 50 entries I receive. If you pay $50, I will send your own Japan Open ROC.

Here is a direct route to purchase JAPAN OPEN DISC RAFFLE TICKETS (http://frizzbeecafecoffee.com/JPNRaffle.htm) via paypal

20 more entries and we have our first raffle....I will video the actual raffle and put it on you tube to verify that there is no shenanigans. :p

I would like to give my first Japan Open Star ROC away tonight

;)

After the first 50 entries are gone there is a fresh 50 in a new can. But the 49 other entries are going into the big pot at the end.

ONLY 7 Japan Open Rocs left.

Still have time to get in the first raffle(15 spots left), most people have optioned to buy it now so the Rocs are disappearing fast.

It has been reported that all the links for the buy it now goes to the Black ROC so if you want one please verify what color you want (there is only 1 silver left). The minimum you will ever get on the eBay market for these rocs will be $30-$40 range minimum. Think of it as a little disc collector investment ;)

Thanks for the support guys...I just got back from a very tough 15hr plane ride and my time clock is upside down right now but, I had the time of my life at the most fun event and at the most incredible venue ever.

I will be going back to Japan in 2010!!! and again and again!!!! It is the best time you could ever have at a disc golf tournament. Japan offers something that America can't. The hospitality is unmatched (well except for at the Lodge). The Venue for the golf is on an AMAZING Robert Trent Jones Golf Course (which I shot 89 on yesterday with only using 1 golf ball ;) ) There is a breathtaking view at every turn ..I got some great pics and will post em soon.

The Resort we all stayed at was incredible. Right next to Nasu Highlands Amusement Park. It had a pretty fun 9 hole disc golf course on the premises and it was also home to hundreds of monkey's...real freakin wild monkeys (<----got some great pics)

As for the golf???? I will not be switching to 150's anytime soon....I had a extremely tough time with the short game with those discs, touch shots are very difficult on those mountains, and keeping it out of the bunkers is nearly impossible. At least now I have about 4 discs that I will be able to use in 2010....the rest will be immediate give aways :D

Ryne is waking up gotta run

Kev , sounds like you had a blast. Curious , what four discs did you like ? What lightweights do you want to get rid of ?

USDGC is #1
Japan is #1A

USDGC is a little cheaper to attend but Japan has the better scenery....The courses play similar due to all the OB but Japan doesn't need to use yellow rope, the cliffs and bunkers provide a more natural OB appeal.

The KC ROC, Champ Roc, Champ Firebird, and the Star Eagle X

The drivers were really difficult to handle...I was throwing DX Xcalibers and Destroyers...I tried a CE Valk but I never got comfortable with any of them, they were all squirly at best.

I'm introducing Disc Golf to some inner city Atlanta kids thursday so they are going to get their hands on all that stuff.

Uhhhhh, WOW....i need to hit this tournament up!

USDGC hooks up free beer after your round...there is a players area where you can get free hamburgers, hot dogs and pork loin. I spent atleast 2 hours there after every round.

glad you had a good time
i think i may need to start a little savings accout to try to make a trip like that

would you say there is plenty to do where you stayed if you did not play disc golf

ninafofitre
Jun 18 2008, 02:16 AM
The Hotel was $670 for the week(It doesn't get cheaper splitting the room, that's not how they roll over there) but with the hospitality, the hot spring, the amusement park, the karaoke rooms, the astro-turf tennis courts, free shuttle from airport and to course and to bus station, the heated toilet seats, monkeys, 9 hole disc golf course on site, The $50 round of golf on a normally $500 Robert Trent Jones design golf course, breakfast-lunch-dinner and all the beer you could drink included it seemed SORT OF REASONABLE!!! :D:D:D:D

I never even went into town, everything you needed was there.

Tokyo on Sunday night was an experience....MAYHEM!!! Bullet train into the city where we partied until the sun came up (4am by the way if you are a sunrise person) Still trying to get my clock turned around from being upside down...

And I will gladly do it again in 2010!!! :D

I'm so glad you got to go this year. I was planning on it and the wife didn't think too much of it, then with two months to go she says, oh you can go if you want.

2010, I'm there with you Kev, no matter what the wife says this time. ;)

Oh by the way Julie won a Champion yearling last night from the Paint Horse show. I have to go pick it up today. I hope she just takes the standing bid they have on it, instead of us taking it home. I'd rather have the $$$. :D

Why don't you just ask the club give you $1000 bucks for it and they can BBQ it for the club picnic? /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Until then you can just bring it to the Lodge this weekend and have it carry your bag. ;)

Avery and Nate pounded 30 each sunday (1 500ml can on every other hole in the morning on the golf course).....DRUNK ASSES!!! Nate actually outlasted Avery, cuz when I came out of the bar in Tokyo at 4am Avery was the one laid out on the ground. Im just glad I didnt have to carry either of them home. :D:D:D

Don't you just have to do a bunch of clever hyzers?

Seems like you should excel at that Kevin...

I would really, really, really, like to do a 150 tournament here just to see what happens....

I might just try and make a 150 bag to play with on occasion if it is really still out here...
