I downloaded from somewhere, don't remember where, an Excel spreadsheet titled "Abacus 2007."
Where can I get Abacus 2008 or an update to Abacus 2007?

Doesn't look like they have a 2008 update. But you can still download 2005/2006/2007 version. Google it.

I have Abacus 2007 already. I wasn't able to find anything regarding the spreadsheet using Google.
I guess I can just modify the existing spreadsheet to accommodate the revised divisions and ratings cutoffs.
Where can I get a current list of PDGA members to put into the PLis tab?

You have to ask PDGA HQ. Not sure that's available though. This was the 2005/2006/2007 link I found for downloading. So if a 2008 version shows up, it may be this site:
http://www.download.com/Abacus-Calculate...4-10583334.html (http://www.download.com/Abacus-Calculated-Fields-Add-on-for-ACT-2005-2006-2007/3000-2065_4-10583334.html)

I think we may be talking about two different things.
The Abacus 2007 I have is a MS Excel spreadsheet with multiple tabs. Under the Instructions tab there is a General section with this description:
This spreadsheet was implemented to assist in running 2 day tournaments on 2 courses.
It has been made to accommodate final 9s or just final cuts to any size field.
"It currently does not automate any calculations for the Jr. divisions.
Entries will automatically be put on the Jr page, but all sorting and payouts must be handled manually."
It produces a separate sheet for each division with hole and Course assignments for each round.
It automatically puts flight A on course 1 then course 2 on the first day and reverses that on day 2.
It produces a results report that can be pasted directly into the PDGA TD report.
I looked throughout the document for an author but wasn't able to find one.

You need to talk to Gary Duke, our Texas state coordinator, he wrote the program. I use it every year too.
shoot him an email, he will send you a link to his most updated version. When you get the email from the PDGA with the most current information, Gary will even add it in. [I don't know how to do it.]

I also have an excel spreadsheet for running tournaments that includes the ability to do ratings calcs on each round played and handles all division point calcs and payouts. It has been updated to include the new division and rating cut offs. If you are interested send your e-mail via PM.

It is not a stand alone program, it is a spreadsheet for handling a two day event on two courses (works for one course as well, not as good for a one day event)

Big thanks to Jerry Kingston for doing the maority of the work in updating it with the 2008 changes.

Thanks Gary. It was fun...that experience got me a lot more farmiliar with VB scripts. I also added 2 new tabs that could be of benefit to some TD's. Let me know if you have any questions.

No, thank you. Instead of complaining that it was not updated, you stepped up and worked to provide a solution.
That is getting to be a pretty rare thing.

There is no doubt that a good TD reporting routine would work much better as a database than in excel, but Access sucks on user interface ability.

I would have to agree on that one, but many more people are familiar with excel.

I discovered a few things this past weekend that need to be cleaned up on the Abacus. I will get an updated one to Gary when I get them worked out.

Did it involve FM1 or MG1? Those have traditionally needed tweaking.

No...I fixed those. It has to do with the payouts postings correctly once it gets to MA2. And, after you prepare the TD report, the division code column on each division tab doesnt have the division code in it. It gets stripped out and doesnt get put back in. Think I have that one taken care of...
Still working on the payout part in my 'spare' time :p Hopefully soon

Got the export payout function working again. I will send a copy to Gary tonight to upload to the LSDGA site and yahoo group. I can also e-mail you a copy.
