I'm still toying around with it, but I have found it has great use for uphill approaches, short/controlled turnover drives, and big jump putts without worrying it'll hyzer off.

The one from my BG players pack is crazy understable. Anhyzer upshots are effortless. A Gateway disc has never made it to my bag, but I may change my mind.

Did I just get a dud or are others the same?

I am kind of in the same spot. I love me some Aviars but the Magic I got in my players pack feels similar only beefier at the top. I agree it seems more understable but seems to carry pretty well. I made a couple of fairly long turbo putts with it.

I took mine out for some short drives today, and if I throw it with hyzer, and gentler than my Wizards and Warlocks I can get some really super accurate drives about 250 ft. I am also finding it great for hyzer putts because it slightly flips up and floats right into the basket. Still not ready to commit it to the bag yet, but once I work with them for a few more weeks we'll see.

The Magic helped me shoot my best round to date. I shot a -4, 50 on Thursday at Blue Mountain for a round rating of 980. One stroke from a 1000 rated round. I was at -5 until that last hole and took my only bogey.

We recently released some SSS magics and before that a few Medium and most of the Glow are kind of SS. ( all production runs should have been SOFT)

If there is anyone that has all 4 or 2 of the 4, can we get a little feedback on the stability difference between them?

I have had so little time to test fly discs lately and I have really only spent time throwing a Medium Magic.
While it has a very nice natural left to right turn, I find it still has enough resistance to turn and wouldn't consider it flippy. I find it very easy to throw 60 and 80 foot layups with the Magic without having to worry about it fading too much.

I have found that is true with the soft Magic. They work great for elevator shots too since they don't have that fade. They go up and right back down. Would like to throw some of the softer Magics!

No unfortunately, I was hoping to plan a tourney in August but the Forest Service who owns both courses here have cut our tournaments back this year. We normally plan 4-6 tourneys a year and they cut us to 2 this year. I am hoping to work with one of the local ski resorts here to put a pro course in. I will let you know what they want to do. We could have you come out and install the course with the Titans and make it top notch! Then you can play some rounds with your sponsored players up here. :D

The last director of the Lolo National Forest out here did not like disc golf. There is a new director but the restriction was put in place before the new director took over. We will have to see what they will let us do next year. The new director seems open to new courses and actually having permanent tee-pads to reduce erosion of the box.

I have the s and ss magics, and find them both to be nice straight putters. They just don;t have much side to side movement which I like.

is one more under stable than the other when throwing shots of over 80 feet?

Has anyone thrown the lighter weight Magics ( 140G - 160G)???
We have sent quite a few out to some of our on line vendors and was wondering if any pdga players were buying them.
I have played catch with one several times but haven't throw it very hard. They are so easy to throw at these weights, I betting they would make great beginner discs.

I let some ladies at my company use them during an outing (168 medium and super soft protos). They were throwing them very straight inside of 20 ft (which is probably like a 40 ft putt for a regular player). I can't throw a 30-40 ft downhill anhyzer touch shot with them yet, which is really the shot I'd like to use them for. I think I just need to spend more time figuring the disc out. The feel is so much different than a wizard, that it's going to take some time.

What flex were the Magics that were given away at the BG AMs player pack? It is not written on the back...

I must have a rogue pair of these discs. When I throw them for drives and approaches they are undrstable, but when I putt with them the fade hard left. Is it just me? I putt a lot with Putt'R and I'm finding the Magic to be a much more overstable putter.

rizbee,
I have seen a lot of over-stable discs and I am pretty certain the Magic is not one of them.
Not sure but it sounds like it could be an issue with your technique. Possibly too much spin for the speed on drives and too little on the putts.
I find the disc to be slightly understable on drives not really understable and far from over stable on putts.

I watched a guy putt today on basket 18 at JB with 4 different magics (2 Glow a soft and a medium) for about an hour.
They seemed to fly so straight for him whether it was a 20 footer or a 120 footer. The disc rarely faded or turned as he hit many jump putts from the 40-60 foot range by throwing the disc dead straight right from his stomach.
Honestly,,,, I was very impressed by how straight he kept the discs on just about every putt or throw.

do you you use a Wizard?

I used one this weekend for putting and upshots. The only time I found it to be "overstable" was with virtually no spin, and even then I dont think overstable is correct, more like it has more fade when thrown with no spin and very little effort.. and it still goes pretty far.

Its a straight putter. If you putt with anhyser or hyser, there is an adjustment period.

When comparing a lid (putt'r) and a disc (magic), of course the disc is more overstable. That is almost as big of a difference as there is between a Roc and an Aviar. I think that the Magic is one of the truest flying beveled edge putters, but not true like a lid-putter (shuttle puppy, birde, putt'r).
