So I guess it is important to note that Pro's have two deadlines concerning when their entry must be received.
May 10th for Mail in-
May 12th Final for Title Disc-
Is that right?

No you can play any event as long as you are PDGA current and able to play rating/invitation wise.
Recs get 6 points for A Tiers and 9 points for Majors.

Apr 14 2008, 04:02 PM
Ouch,
sounds like death to sky hyzers is what you want.
Would be fun to see the pros show us how to play in wind but i would guess that not that many of them deal with it a lot back east and up north.
Pennekamp
Apr 14 2008, 04:25 PM
I just want the playing conditions to be similar to what we deal with 90% of the time. I'm all for perfect conditions (little or no wind) to see what the pros can shoot (record rounds), but I want the wind so it can truly be a test of great shot making.
I would rather see overall winning scores be in the ballpark of -5 to even par, than to see a bunch of -20,-15 etc.

If I were a pro I would rather have wind than face drowning rains or our fine August weather with its 90+% humidity and 90 to 110 degree heat. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

It seems that extreme wind doesn't affect them much...Check the rounds for day 1 at Bowling Green. McCabe and Shultz were 3 strokes from the perfect round at White and we played in 30+ this weekend. Sunday 15-20mph with rain and temps in the high 30's....AWESOME This weekend reminded me why I'm a fair weather golfer. ;)

Volunteers needed
The tournament needs at least two volunteers for Thursday and/or Friday, this week, the 8th & 9th. I will have one commercial weed eater (double handled and shoulder straps) and one commercial brush cutter (same set up). I ask for these two days so that everyone that wants to play Pawhuska can play.
The City is scheduled to mow on the 13th but we need to get the areas that I know they won't get. Down each side of the fairways, tee areas and around baskets and any other areas where the trees are too tight to get a mower in. We could also use anyone that has their own weed eater or push mower to help out with trimming up the tight areas (leave this alone FurDog). We just want to get this done before the mowers come in on the 13th. By doing this they will not miss any areas as it will be very easy to see where we have been.
If any one wants to donate some major $$$ I can have a wood chipper out there that can handle up to a 6" diameter for $160 per day or $650 for the week. :p
If you can work on Thursday/Friday with one of the weed eaters, please give me a call so we can coordinate times. If you can do 4 hours great, if you can do the whole day even better. I will provide drinks and luch for those that work.
Thanks

I've heard that there is a new type of lawn tool out there called a "Weed Vaporizer". It doesn't need gas. All you have to do is plug it into a car battery, hold it near the ground, and it vaporizes the weeds without physically cutting them. I think it kind of works like a bug zapper but without the "zap".

I know of 2 people not on that registration list that are driving a RV from NORTHERN CALIFORNIA....Are you really going to tell them after they spent $800+ in gas alone that they can't play, when we only have 40 players? It's gonna backfire like a 74 Pinto!!!.....I really think you could screw up a wet dream....

Danny I have been given permission by my better half to have two people over for the GTO weekend. FYI - I have two dogs and two cats (just in case anyone is allergic) and have two couches and an airmattress available. Let me know if this helps.
Kevin please let all the pros you know about the sign up deadline for pros at the GTO. It is definitely not Wayne's intention to have anyone get left out of this event. We look forward to seeing you and Courtney back in Tulsa!

I don't want any more but we can hadle a couple of thunder storms. Its the 3" all day down pour that worries me. If you could have seen how fast it drained from Friday to Sunday last weekend, you may not be as worried. The wed rain chance doesn't bother me as much as the Thursday chance. But that still gives it almost two days before we tee on Saturday.

Then again, Keldog is from Arkansas so you might wake up on Sunday morning still tied to the tree. :o

Wayne Forest and his staff did a great job with this event. I was very proud to be a Tulsan and be able to take part in this event. I thought all of the judgement calls that Wayne had to face with the courses were right on. Everything was on time and prompt and scheduled from the beginning.
Huge thanks to all of those that spent their time volunteering to make the courses playable.
I love no Saturday morning player meeting. Just show up when you are supposed to - warm up on your based on your personal preference and not around a player's meeting.
Once again I think the GTO was pulled off wonderfully!!!

Had a great time this weekend!! I am glad that we got to play the hawks. Last week I was really nervous about the weather, but twoputt made some deal with the devil to keep the rain away.
Just curious, what is the protocol for setting up opening round cards? Is it usually alphabetically? Or is it some other way?
Overall, I had a great time. Thanks Wayne, and all of the volunteers!!

I really enjoyed the GTO last weekend, the weather was awesome.
Thank you Wayne Forest, you pulled off one heck of an event. All the volunteers were a pleasure to be around, smiles and handshakes were very common. Thank you to all the spotters, you guys did a wonderful job. Doc was working his tail off out there on hole 14, for a second I thought he was going to get in a 3-point stance and run over Furdog :D
The Judge was one awesome round of golf, we had very few waits. The top cards had some rather long waits, sorry about that guys :o
Looking forward to next year!

"I didn't get to see the finish but I heard some old guy and some young guy got into some WWF wrestling for viewing position in the gallery and young guy got body slammed. ....Talk about some wild fans."
I am just wish I still had my film in the camera at that time!!
Thanks to everyone involved, and all the guys I got paired with. I had a good time even though scores dont reflect it....

Great job Wayne and everyone who helped pull this event off! Considering the ice storm and all the rain we had, I was really impressed with how Blackhawk and Redhawk turned out. Thanks for everyone that helped out on the courses and volunteered their time this last weekend.

My hat is off to Wayne Forest and his crew for a very smooth tournament. It was really exciting to watch so many great golfers in one tournament. The clinic which we were able to bring a couple of the local kids down for was great too. Look forward to holding a clinic up here for local players someday. Congratulations again, Wayne, fine job.

Still in shock from my experience.
I would say that this will probably be my most memorable tournament for some time to come.
My first poker night, my first NT, my first time to beat Jose in a tournament! :o
I wouldn't have traded it for the world. Not to mention the two coolest house guests a guy could ask for. T-Dogg and Feldberg both got to sample the rare Treat Family Delicacy of--- Mom's Lasagna!
Feldberg does not read the board so I guess I need not thank him for being a courteous house guest. But he was, as were Avery and Val, for the short time they were there.
Big thanks to Jim and Debbie for coming out and watching us (them) play....
It was worth getting out of bed for to be sure.
I have learned a lot in being in close contact with all of these great players, and one thing is for sure, you have to love this game to get to where they are. The time and energy spent in getting around and doing what they do is daunting.
It looks like Tulsa has just got another notch in its perpetual belt.
Am Worlds, NT, what is next? Pro Worlds? Combined Worlds? Doubles?
As long as we work as a team, anything is possible.

So basically sticking your nose up Feldbergs butt is currently your best disc golf memory :D
BTW, nice shooting last weekend.

Yeah thanks Conners, I could have played a lot better, but it is nice to get some record of me actually playing reasonably well.
As for Feldberg, I avoid being the guy who hangs all over the top pros...
...now they come to me!
But yeah, if sticking my nose wherever is what you call it, then sign me up for another...because I have been critiqued, and I am now going to start a long hard practice regiment to work into this new putt and get my form and timing down.
Maybe if I can get Climo next time, I can actually figure this game out. :o

When I started working here I did layout a sweet 9 hole course that would be a great single day temp course.
Although.... it is where the wild animals roam ....
I would hate to see a buffalo herd roam thru the temp course. :o
Baskets laying everywhere. :D
I defintely have scoped it out.
Maybe someday.
