So what are the differences in these plastics?

the same. if you go somewhere that has a large amount of star discs, you will see that there can be large variances in grippiness and stiffness.

actually the ones that I have are not the same. I have two turquoise Nightshift orcs at 174. I have 4 SB Orcs from the Tulsa worlds, first stamp/run.
The Nightshift are more overstable, more chaulky and more grippy than the corresponding weight in the SB Orc. The Nightshift orc has a matte finish vs. SB orcs glossy finish.

One thing i noticed with at least the two SB that i have is if you hold it up to a light, you can see "some light coming through. Where as if you hold a Star or NS up to the light nothing comes through. I have always thought the SB were more grippy. I cant comment on fligtht, as i do not throw an Orc.

these factors are still evident in certain star discs as well. the blend differs sometimes in runs and causes these differences.

If you feel ANY disc of these three plastics next to each other, as I am now, the difference is obvious...
I too think the SB Tulsa orcs have the best grip. IMO

ask Dave and see what he says. the point is you can find star discs that feel exactly like the SB and the night shift.

Before the time of Star plastic some workers at the Innova factory either on purpose or by mistake altered the plastic blend while making Champion Orcs one night...the result were the "Nightshift Orcs". The plastic was opaque and grippy and earned an immediate cult following. This madness ended with the creatiion of "special blend" plastic that was to become Star plastic as we know it.

God bless those who would rather ask for forgivness than beg for permission :D....The SB and the Star Orc are not the same in feel, flight, or beat in time IMO all the stars I have felt and thrown just are not the same as my SBs from TULSA....I really wish they were because they are cheeeeeeep compared to the beloved SB

What discs were made in the nightshift plastic? How about SB? I know of orcs in both, SB wraith and Teebird. I also think I've heard of NS RR or sidewinders

just tossed my "new" Night shift Orc that I gave to a friend, who traded it to another, who traded it back to me. It's sweeeeet. It's been a while my straight glidy friend.

Thats all bunk. The only true NightShift is the Orc. Everything after that is a Special Blend or Star Proto.
I have a 11x KC Teebird in the Tulsa Special Blend.

The special blends came right after the night shift. There were 2006 special blend orcs in three different stamps but no SB t-birds. ;)
After the SB Orcs and SB rocs came the Star version.

There were some fluky 11x Teebirds that were star/SB/Champion mixes. The stamp says champion but the discs are definitely not. I would consider them star or early SB discs. Mark might still have some at discgolfvalues. The one I have is black.

There were some early runs of proto special blend in a variety of molds. I've seen a lot of black ones.
Orc
Valkyrie
Beast
Teebird
Leopard
Eagle
I'm not sure about the sidewinder or firebird, but I've heard of those as well.

I have a 11x KC Teebird in the Tulsa Special Blend.
I highly doubt it. I have seen every version of the Teebird from the first run DX, CE, KC, Champion, and Pro line but have never seen a nightshift version. As far as I remember, the only true nightshift discs were the Orcs. You may be confusing your Teebird with an early version of the 11x that was actually a 10x with an 11x stamp. Sorry, I know my Teebirds and if you truly have a night shift 11x, then you have a one of a kind disc.

I have a special blend teebird with a COA rewards card.

Thank You.
Its not a 10x.
You can come into the shop and see it for yourself. Its sitting right next to the Tulsa Orcs. The guy I got it from worked at Innova East and there was very few run. Most were in the 166-168g range, the heavier versions went to Team members or people in the Carolinas or something. They are out there, and quite a bit cheaper than the one Im selling, Im just in no hurry to sell it.

Very cool, I have a new 168g red/blue stamp 11x Teebird exactly like the one in your picture and have been wondering what type of plastic it was. Now that I've examined it again it's very similiar to the 1st run Special Blend Orcs. Any idea of how many of these were run??

I have an emerald green tee-bird that is very cool looking. But the first one of these that I ever saw was a black Viking. I still have it and it is the only Viking I have seen in this proto plastic. Haven't thrown it yet, hoping to sell it to a viking lover, but they are few and far between...

I just got a cloudy, seethrough SC orc. Its almosr like the newer cloudy/opaque champion plastic, Its also domier than all the other sb orcs i've seen. Anyone have any insight or have seen any like these before
