I can't wait to finally get back to Duncan, this course will test everything you have, especially when the wind comes in off the lake. And as always, the camping and night games are a blast.
The 10K hole in one is a GREAT added treat to this event. :D

Close, but not in Ft. Smith. SN Pro Championships are in Little Rock, AR on Aug. 30 & 31 and the SN Am Championships are in Pensacola, FL on Aug. 16 & 17. Glad to see more SN Qualifiers.
To play in one of the 2008 championships, you have to collect your points before May 31, 2008. So, get to Duncan America and see the lake.

Not to mention what a special place Duncan Lake is.
Special thanks to the Twisted 1 for having the vision for the future of disc golf in Oklahoma teaming up with the new EDGE Tournament Charity Program (http://www.edgediscgolf.org) . :D
Who is taking the challenge of 10% of their $10,000 hole-in-one to EDGE? Don't worry, it will be a deduction against the other taxes you'll have to pay.

I am finally back. I forgot that you couldn't post on here if you weren't current. I was going to try and slide by this year without re-upping but couldn't stand not being able to answer some of the peoples questions about the Hillclimber and to try and help get you all PUMPED UP for it! I needed a little nudging this year to get me feeling like working on the course. It is easy to get burned out when you work your butt off all day several days on a course that is on city property and they don't lift a hand to help. If you ask them for anything you get a slap in the face response. Example: Last year a player got stuck in the mud the day before the Hillclimber. We just happen to have a flash flood come through that day. I called the lake patrol to see if he could maybe get someone to help pull him out. I figured that was the least he could do since they don't do anything else that has to do with the course. He said " No! And I might just have to give him a ticket for getting stuck out on the course" ( like he cares anything about the course ) I told him that the player that got stuck wasn't on the course when he got stuck but ended up out there trying to get out. And then I told him I was going to just quit taking care of the course if I couldn't get anymore help from the city than that! He told me that I should just quit then. I told him that I will but then cooled down for some reason and decided I should at least try and get along with them a little bit so that we could keep the course and the Hillclimber tradition even if they were always goling to be asses. Anyway to make a long story short, I needed some coaxing this year and boy did I get it! The Twisted1, Jose', Jake Christian,Danielle Vargas,Jason Schwake, Doug Maxfield ( who also helps out every chance he gets and has been to every DLHO so far), Brad HOI, Don Cook and Joe Ed did alot of work out on the course last weekend and boy was it nice to get that help. THANK YOU! It was awesome of you guys and gals to travel that far to help out. The TDSA and Jose' also helped out with the funds for the upkeep. I really appreciate it! It is hard to spend that kind of $ when you have a family with two teenagers who always have there hands out wanting more and more of it. :) And the GAS PRICES! ;(
Anyway, I really appreciate all of the help. I brush hogged all day today and finished both courses except for some detail work like new tee flags, new tee signs for alternate course, a few new trash cans, a little more touch-up weedeating around the baskets and tee signs and some lopping work on the alternate. Marty Dayhoff said he will do some of that stuff this weekend. I am looking forward to another great DLHO! Joe Rotan will pick up right where Jose' left off and TWIST it up a little. A live band at the DLHO and a $10,000 hole in one! Woo! Hoo! What more can you ask for? You have got disc golf, camping, food, live music and a chance to win big $. What's not to like.

I believe there will be Friday afternoon doubles. The plan right now as far as I know it is two rounds a day alternating between two 18-hole courses on sat and sun. As long as we don't have a flood like last year we will be able to play both courses. Joe will be able to confirm this. Looking forward to this weekend!

I was asked to give direction by someone. Here was my reply:
Take Hwy 81 to Duncan. On the North side of town, go East on Plato Road. The intersection of 81/Plato has a stoplight, I think it is the second light coming into town from the North (from OKC). Take Plato Road for 9-miles East until reaching Duncan Lake Road. Go right (South) for about 1/2 mile then turn right again (back West) into the park. Last year there were tournament banners at the park entrance. The campground is about another 1/2 mile down the park road.

Woo! Hoo! 169 players! A new Duncan Lake record. Joe Rotan is doing a great and twisted job! Sally Majestic played tonight and I am now a Sally Magestic fan! They are some very talented musicians. I had seen David Nicholson play the national anthem on you tube and it was sweet but to hear it live at the lake was killer sweet! I was out on the alternate course putting the last portable basket out while Rotan was having the rules meeting and all of a sudden I heard the national anthem start up. That was so cool to hear that while I was out in the middle of the course with no one in sight! His version sounds so much like the Hendrix version. So sweet! I have a sinus infection, sore throat and all but I have been having a blast.

Man that was a trip. After being out there for days with a bad sore throat from a sinus infection on the last day I couldn't talk at all. It was crazy! I never have lost my voice that bad. All I could do when someone asked me a question or just wanted to talk was make a squeaking noise. :DI finally figured out if I just whispered as loud as I could People could at least figure out what I was saying and it didn't irritate my throat as bad. They did however wonder why I was whispering all the time. My daughter helped out a ton when she showed up by being my voice. I would just whisper in her ear what I needed said and then she would talk for me. I had to have her and one of the food girls answer my phone for me or make my calls. What a deal! Some of the craziest things happen to me. I can just imagine if I would have been the tournament td. It is a day later and my voice still hasn't returned. Of course my wife doesn't mind that at all. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I would like to see that too. :DI don't have any of Pee Wee getting taped but I have a few others. I haven't got them developed yet. I have an ancient camera.

That's okay Johnny..I told one of the young ones with his digital camera that he was a shutterbug after watching him take a few hundred pics and he had no idea what that was :)
Sometimes it's nice to be the old school golfer out there
2009 will be 20yrs for me and Duncan will be on that list w/o a doubt

To everyone that came out to the 9th annual DLHO... it was a record setting year. 169 players converged on the toughest track in Oklahoma to see exactly why it was called "the hillclimber". All in all it was a blast and everyone behaved for the most part.
I can't thank Johnny, Jose, Barb, Kim, Karla, Danielle, treats and the Watsons enough. It takes a TEAM of folks to make a event run smooth and on time... This team pulled it off and afforded me the time to do the things that make me and my events TWISTED. Thanks again friends.
It was very nice to see Friends of the Flyer from Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma. It was also very nice to see all the TD's that stepped up to donate entries to both the "your already a winner" and "Keldog's E.D.G.E raffle". As I said at the event we wanted to spread the riches over the field as much as possible and I feel we did that at this years DLHO. Between the raffles, rings of fire, the band, the $10,000.00 Hole in one, PHAT players packs and the added cash and prizes there was something for everyone.I would like to thank Innova, Gateway, Discraft, KICKER and Revolution DGB'sfor their continued support.
Even though I rolled the "free discs for 5 years" E.D.G.E Hole in one over to Hole #1 all weekend NOBODY HIT IT AGAIN... 2 weekends in a row. And as we all know by now the $10,000.00 hole in one wasn't hit either... SO NEXT YEARS WILL BE $20,000.00
I would have posted sooner but I came home to the "Spy Killer Pro" bug...
I appreciate all of the love and support everyone has given along the way... it helps keep it TWISTED!

Sammy Shumaker on my card rattled the basket on #1 Saturday. He had visions of free discs for a second or two...

Sound's like I missed a fun weekend. Work and weekends make a bad combination. Maybe next year. What's up with all the low scores in the low divisions from players without PDGA memberships ? What are these people afraid of ?

Thanks again Joe Ro and Danielle! Get your cameras out this evening. Supercells are suppost to converge on Okieland. You might be able to get a good twisted pic for a disc or something. I have a few twisted pics. You can't beat amateur storm chasing for a good rush.

Are there any discs left over from this event? My buddy brought me back a CryZtal Avenger and the stamp is nice. I like the jeep logo on it, what's the signifigance there?

Hey Bird! We have a couple discs left with that stamp. An ESP Wasp.
Since its called the Hillclimber the joke is you need an SUV (jeep) to get through the second day. Long tradition I guess.
Want one? Coming in town today. Also have the new Xcalibers.
