I was witness to it. It was on the card in front of us the first round. It was the older female that was playing. I think it was hole 12 she hit from hole 14 tee. Her first shot went way to the right, then her mulligan came out on a hard hyzer and we all yelled FORE! There was a group finishing on that basket and they all ducked, just as it crashed the chains. Thats when I held up my arms and yelled BLACK ACE! That might explain why someone thought it was me.

Not sure. I do believe the Paske's got theirs hooked up there before.... I know there is power in the pavilion.
Last year, while watching Terrill and Barb build the Taj Mahal for their campsite, I realized I was an amatuer in both disc golf and camping. Just when I thought their palace was completed, Terrill starts outfitting the kitchen complete with microwave oven. What an education observing real pros in action...
BTW: There are also water spigots at various spots around the campgrounds. Make sure you don't set up your tent downstream from one of these.

I am finally back. I forgot that you couldn't post on here if you weren't current. I was going to try and slide by this year without re-upping but couldn't stand not being able to answer some of the peoples questions about the Hillclimber and to try and help get you all PUMPED UP for it! I needed a little nudging this year to get me feeling like working on the course. It is easy to get burned out when you work your butt off all day several days on a course that is on city property and they don't lift a hand to help. If you ask them for anything you get a slap in the face response. Example: Last year a player got stuck in the mud the day before the Hillclimber. We just happen to have a flash flood come through that day. I called the lake patrol to see if he could maybe get someone to help pull him out. I figured that was the least he could do since they don't do anything else that has to do with the course. He said " No! And I might just have to give him a ticket for getting stuck out on the course" ( like he cares anything about the course ) I told him that the player that got stuck wasn't on the course when he got stuck but ended up out there trying to get out. And then I told him I was going to just quit taking care of the course if I couldn't get anymore help from the city than that! He told me that I should just quit then. I told him that I will but then cooled down for some reason and decided I should at least try and get along with them a little bit so that we could keep the course and the Hillclimber tradition even if they were always goling to be asses. Anyway to make a long story short, I needed some coaxing this year and boy did I get it! The Twisted1, Jose', Jake Christian,Danielle Vargas,Jason Schwake, Doug Maxfield ( who also helps out every chance he gets and has been to every DLHO so far), Brad HOI, Don Cook and Joe Ed did alot of work out on the course last weekend and boy was it nice to get that help. THANK YOU! It was awesome of you guys and gals to travel that far to help out. The TDSA and Jose' also helped out with the funds for the upkeep. I really appreciate it! It is hard to spend that kind of $ when you have a family with two teenagers who always have there hands out wanting more and more of it. :) And the GAS PRICES! ;(
Anyway, I really appreciate all of the help. I brush hogged all day today and finished both courses except for some detail work like new tee flags, new tee signs for alternate course, a few new trash cans, a little more touch-up weedeating around the baskets and tee signs and some lopping work on the alternate. Marty Dayhoff said he will do some of that stuff this weekend. I am looking forward to another great DLHO! Joe Rotan will pick up right where Jose' left off and TWIST it up a little. A live band at the DLHO and a $10,000 hole in one! Woo! Hoo! What more can you ask for? You have got disc golf, camping, food, live music and a chance to win big $. What's not to like.

BTW: There are also water spigots at various spots around the campgrounds. Make sure you don't set up your tent downstream from one of these.

Last year we didnt have to worry about them because we had a RIVER going through campsites due to the 6 inches of rain we had lol anybody remember that.

...Last year a player got stuck in the mud the day before the Hillclimber. We just happen to have a flash flood come through that day....
I have to say it was great entertainment watching the multiple efforts to get that truck out of the mud. After an hour-or-two, there was about three trucks stuck in that morass. If the Lake Patrol had come out, they would've just laughed at that mess...
Hopefully we can avoid the monsoons this year. The tee pads were quite a challenge to keep one's footing...

It has been confirmed as of today that THE BAND WILL PLAY SATURDAY EVENING / NIGHT... Sally Majestic AND friends will be in the house early Saturday to set up and get us rocking. You know how I do... Sally is there because I dig them... and I know you will too.
And just when you thought... Geez... "How much more TwisteD can it get?" I PROUDLY announce the JAY SLACK TACO BAR on Saturday Night as the band rips on... Yep... If you know me you know a Taco is a food group. Jay and Co. will be in the house SATURDAY NIGHT... As with Sally the Taco's are here because I dig them and I know you will too. Ok guys...
I am making a list of things that I need for Duncan and didn't know what kind of ammenities there are down there.
Are there grills at the campsites? Or should I bring one? Any other "tips" for this Duncan first timer? I'd hate to get down there and realize that I should've brought something else.
Friday morning can't get here soon enough!!
Thanks

Grill (I think one or two of the camp sites has a fire pit thing you could put a grill grate over but get there early)
Tent
SleepingBag
Air Matress
Lots of SOCKS (trust me on this one)
Couple pairs of shoes
Warm gear for the morning
Cool gear for the daytime
Lots of Water
Towels
and
YOUR WIND GAME :D
Martin_Norris
Mar 25 2008, 04:26 PM
Grill is always a good idea, if you are camping and want to shower don't forget soap and towel. if you want power you will need to bring your own power cord (length of which determines camping location) Don't forget a cooler, sleeping pad or cot, and if you want personal space outfit the vehicle to sleep in (like Forest) or bring a tent. (ask Steve N. about sleeping in the open)
AND
above all be prepared for FUN!

What they said and two more items that are very important: Insect repellent and if you want electricity you will need an adaptor. The campground outlets take camper plugs which are funky slantet pronged plugs. You can get the adapters at Wal-Mart in the camping supply section. The female end of them are regular pronged and the male end is funky slanted pronged. :)

Woo! Hoo! 169 players! A new Duncan Lake record. Joe Rotan is doing a great and twisted job! Sally Majestic played tonight and I am now a Sally Magestic fan! They are some very talented musicians. I had seen David Nicholson play the national anthem on you tube and it was sweet but to hear it live at the lake was killer sweet! I was out on the alternate course putting the last portable basket out while Rotan was having the rules meeting and all of a sudden I heard the national anthem start up. That was so cool to hear that while I was out in the middle of the course with no one in sight! His version sounds so much like the Hendrix version. So sweet! I have a sinus infection, sore throat and all but I have been having a blast.

But I wll have to discount you two playing a third round as being extra special. Yes you did play two rounds that day.
BUT you didn't camp!;)
I am one of the first people that will get a hotel room, but not at Duncan or Chandler, those are meant to be experienced by camping. And there is nothing like getting your wake-up call from the Silvis family at 3:30am and the Lund Stable at 5:00am. :o:D
But, I got to give you a small hand, as three rounds there , well rested, is a huge test. ;)

I will camp next year...
Dad already had the hotel booked, so I figured we had better use it.
Congratulations to my partner T-Dogg for his first Advanced win!
You played hard and were rewarded.
I could have prepared a little more for this event in hindsight, but in the end, my pitiful +4 final round was only good enough to tie for second...again.
Oh well...

You played well all weekend. Not near what anyone expected for your first trip to Duncan, that course has brought more than a few good players to their knees.
I thought I was doing pretty good the last round, then 4 holes and 10 strokes later, I knew that wasn't the case. :o:D
**** that course! :p

Yeah, I do keep on forgetting it was my first time there...
Luckily I was able to get there early on Friday, thanks Wagle!, and see the Permanent course.
But, if you look at the rounds, I had to have the temp course to do well...
The permanent course is a challenge for sure.
I would hate to be an open player playing Convers or someone there...
I talked to Mitch Mac a few times, and he told me that he has the course record, in tournament play, at -11, and the next day, with opposite wind, he shot a -8.
Gotta love Mich Mac... :D

My understanding is there is video and it will be put on YouTube...
We had crashed by that time of night, so we didn't get it. We will check out our pics/video tonight and see what we've got...

Man that was a trip. After being out there for days with a bad sore throat from a sinus infection on the last day I couldn't talk at all. It was crazy! I never have lost my voice that bad. All I could do when someone asked me a question or just wanted to talk was make a squeaking noise. I finally figured out if I just whispered as loud as I could People could at least figure out what I was saying and it didn't irritate my throat as bad. They did however wonder why I was whispering all the time. My daughter helped out a ton when she showed up by being my voice. I would just whisper in her ear what I needed said and then she would talk for me. I had to have her and one of the food girls answer my phone for me or make my calls. What a deal! Some of the craziest things happen to me. I can just imagine if I would have been the tournament td. It is a day later and my voice still hasn't returned. Of course my wife doesn't mind that at all.

Don't get me wrong though, both courses are SWEET! I just suck at playing them. :DThanks Joe and staff and Johnny Z for preparing for and running what I think is one of the best touraments I've ever played. Thank our lord for the good weather, and last but certainly not least, thanks to Billy Swanson for letting me use your amp to play the national anthem.
PEACE!

I am already looking forward to next year to hear that national anthem and eruption live at the lake again. :DThanks Big Nic!
Also thanks to Jay Slack for the awesome tacos and fajitas! We payed $5.00 for fajitas that would be around $10.00 or $11.00 at a restaurant.

That was a great job with the National Anthem Jimi :) I took a video clip of it with my phone and it sounds great. I was too far away though and the video itself is lame...

THANKS!!!! :DTo everyone that came out to the 9th annual DLHO... it was a record setting year. 169 players converged on the toughest track in Oklahoma to see exactly why it was called "the hillclimber". All in all it was a blast and everyone behaved for the most part.
I can't thank Johnny, Jose, Barb, Kim, Karla, Danielle, treats and the Watsons enough. It takes a TEAM of folks to make a event run smooth and on time... This team pulled it off and afforded me the time to do the things that make me and my events TWISTED. Thanks again friends.
It was very nice to see Friends of the Flyer from Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma. It was also very nice to see all the TD's that stepped up to donate entries to both the "your already a winner" and "Keldog's E.D.G.E raffle". As I said at the event we wanted to spread the riches over the field as much as possible and I feel we did that at this years DLHO. Between the raffles, rings of fire, the band, the $10,000.00 Hole in one, PHAT players packs and the added cash and prizes there was something for everyone.I would like to thank Innova, Gateway, Discraft, KICKER and Revolution DGB'sfor their continued support. Thanks to BIG NIC for laying down the anthem... always nice to give the USA some love.
Even though I rolled the "free discs for 5 years" E.D.G.E Hole in one over to Hole #1 all weekend NOBODY HIT IT AGAIN... 2 weekends in a row. And as we all know by now the $10,000.00 hole in one wasn't hit either... SO NEXT YEARS WILL BE $20,000.00
I appreciate all of the love and support everyone has given along the way... it helps keep it TWISTED!

Johnny I loved being the TD of the Hilly 1. I am the twisted1 of the hilly1 if you will. It was a bunch of work and details but with the staff I had I wcan't wait to do it again next year. As a first run I walked away with a few ideas for next year, few tweaks I'd make... I look forward to working on it next year with you.
Everyone is welcome back!

"--Welcome to Mikita's. How may I serve you?
-I'd like 'rullers, 'ugar, 'ucks and a Mikita 'cup...And then I think I would like a large......with 'eam. --And could I please have 'elly donut and... ...raspberry and a 'nge drink?
-What?
-I'm sorry. And 'eaker 'oken.
--Let me recap the order. A cruller, two sugar pucks, a large coffee with cream, a raspberry jelly doughnut, orange drink, a box of five-holes. - Yeah. - Thank you. Drive around, please."

OK kids I have confirmation from the PDGA that DLHO results will be included in this ratings update. I have submitted the TD REPORT along with the ONE THOUSAND & SIXTY DOLLARS IN FEES... THE PDGA received a whopping $1235.00 in all from the Duncan Event (fee's + 75.00 sanctioning + 50.00 insurance)

PDGA or IRS, either way they both take your money. :D

Apr 17 2008, 12:57 PM
I posted the totals to go along with the theme of this tour. At the event I gave real totals on payout, entries etc. I detailed to the nickel the EDGE raffle money as well as the Southern nationals money. I want people to KNOW when I say we are raising or allocating monies that it is really reaching it's destination.
I do not have a problem supporting the PDGA at all. It takes $$$ to track and do what they do and this is just our part.
