What are the differences in the 2 and 3 ring molds. All the sannys in my bag are 2 ring and all the ones in my collection are the 3 ring. I figured the 2 rings are the latest molds, but what about the flight. I'm wondering if one on my wall should go to my bag. All my 3 rings are glo as well.

I have a bunch of both kinds. The profiles seem the same. The larger roc came out in jan 89 and the plastic is much harder than the plastic that was used for the smaller diameter roc. The rocs made from '89 -91 have 3 rings, some time in '91 it was changed to 2 rings. I have discs with tournament stamps from '91 that have 2 rings and others from '91 that have 3 rings. The discs with 2 rings aren't "brick" hard, there a little bit softer but still much firmer than any DX plastic made since '94.The 2 ring rocs were made from mid '91 - late 94. The glow material in both molds made the discs a little softer and in my opinion beat in much better. The 3ring rocs were more stable than the 2ring rocs but I could never see a difference in the discs. Both molds are still the best discs EVER made (in my opinion). The plastic is so much softer now that I'm very curious to try the new San Marino's. It would be nice to have some that won't break in zero degree weather.

One more thing, when trying to figure out if you should throw one or not, look at the area around the nipple. If there are bubbles or areas that are not filled in , then it is more likely to break. The discs that have holes in the center ring have those holes (or bubbles) throughout the entire disc. If you hit a tree right on a bubble they can explode into 40 pieces. I used to think it was cool when it happened but now not so much, but really is something to see. Throwing old rocs is like speeding, sooner your later it's time to get busted!! Shark

how is the san marino different from the ontario, mold and flight-wise?

it will be like the ontarios

Flight wise, like mentioned before, best mold ever. Its less LSS than a rancho, more overall stable than an ontario. I also feel when these hit the roc sweet spot, the hold it longer than the other molds. I've have one in my bag for 2 years that's bearly changed over the last 1 1/2 years and it my main roc.

I've had the same one in my bag 12 years. Throw it with a tail wind a it is the straightest flying disc youd ever want. I've let my friends throw it and they just flip it over and say wtf. The original ontarios fly like a beat san marino. The USDGC FS champion ontarios are very true. Has anyone seen and thrown a USDGC FS star ontario? The new star TFR"s I've seen have such sharp flashing on the bottom that they are scratching the disc shipped underneath it in the box. If I'm going to pay 25.00 dollars for a disc ,I think they should in mint condition. Has anyone else seen this. A circle of tiny scratches on the top of the disc all the way around on the new star rocs? I was at an Ice bowl and the rocs in the crate that everyone had nosed through were all scratched up.
