Well we are a little over a month and a half out. Thought I should post some info about the upcoming Crush on the Concho.

March 15th & 16th is the date for the event.
March 14th will be the bring your partner doubles round. Flex start, starting at 4pm. $10 per team.

It will again be a C tier event.
3 rounds of 18

Most all divisions will be offered, but if you want to check give Carl a call(325-450-8090), or check the CVDGA site.

We will have custom stamped disc both for payout and to buy(through saturday).

CTPs
Ring of Fire
Long drive comp($2)
Saturday Night Glow Random Doubles($5)
Basket Raffle
Player packs to first 100

And we are working on getting free camping.....

We will also be putting in an alternate 18 hole temp. course that will be to the right of the normal course. The friday doubles round will be played on that course so people have a chance to get familiar with it.

Like I say, for more info give Carl a call, email me(jason), or check the www.conchovalleydiscgolf.org (http://www.conchovalleydiscgolf.org) site. We're hoping to top 100 players this year, so help us spread the word. I'll have flyers made hopefully by next week. If you would like me to email you one just let me know....

Might be hard to get over 100 when you schedule the same weekend as the HOTT @ Redrocks. What's with that anyways?

warlocks00
Jan 31 2008, 06:51 PM
The Crush is always around St. Patricks day, and we had this date posted on the LSGDA site before the HOTT schedule came out(not trying to saying we had the date first or anything). Besides the fact that there is not any other open days in March, other than Easter weekend, but that would lose more than scheduling on the same weekend as another tourney...Got Texas State Doubles the weekend before, Easter the weekend after, and another HOTT stop the next. Not to mention we hardly ever pull many players from that area anyway. I wish we did.....

At any rate, the dates for the Crush didn't change from last year which was March 17th & 18th. It's still the 3rd weekend in March.

We had right at 90 last year, shouldn't be hard to get another 10....there are that many new players just here in San Angelo from last year. That is, if we can get them out to a tourney.

I played at the Crush last year and had a great time. I even got to swim about 50 feet to recover one of my disc that was floating in the lake. Im sorry to say I still lost 4 or 5 disc that weekend to the lake. I will definitely be back this year for some pay back. I had to leave as soon as the main event was over because of work. But I will plan a little better this year. I'm looking forward to playin this one again. And I will have atleast one more player with me.

Glad to hear you had a good time at the Crush last year, and that you plan to come back. We try to have very good payout, and just make the event fun in general. It usually get's especially fun during the Saturday night glow round. And yeah, a couple of the holes will eat some disc up if you're not careful, or have a bad pull.

Where is Burleson?

Don't sweat these guys, I know you guys have had the same date as the Red Rock Show because I have been torn between both tourneys. I have family that live in Eldorado and San Angelo but Red Rock is only 30 minutes away. Anyway, I am going to try to make your tourney this year again and also to spread the news that a new course may be coming in close to you in Junction. I am awaiting final approval from the city council to design/build the course in the city park on the Llano River. Hope to see you guys in March.

I had heard rumors that a course maybe going in Junction. That would be great...not to far to drive, and if you try hard enough you can go back home through Fredricksburg to pick up a growler!!! Sonora was also interested in putting in a course. I had heard they had the layout and everything, but when the rains started it kind of flooded the area they were going to put in in at. Emailed the chamber several times to see if I could be of any assistance.....but they said they were in a waiting period....Can't wait to hear Junction is in!!!

And hope to see you at the Crush!

Glad to hear it Matt, and thanks for the sponosorship pack. Do you have a logo you can email me so I can add you to the back of the shirt? It'll be printed one color on the back, so if you already have a one color that would help. If not send me what you go and we'll go from there.(adobe Ill. is prefered or photoshop, but I can go from most files.)

thanks again!

I'm expecting another good turnout from Abilene...I dont think 100 is going to be hard to hit. Might want to post the maximum for your event...I have a feeling you might have to turn people away :-)

Carl has asked me to keep score, so I will try and post pre-registration numbers on your PDGA.com tournament page.

warlocks00
Feb 11 2008, 02:18 PM
I hope you're right Jerry...we usually have a good size group come down from Abilene. We are setting up an alternate 18 hole course this year so we won't have to turn people away. This is going to be a shorter course than the normal course, but it should be a little tighter. It will be to the right of were the normal course is. We have used this area a couple of times before for tourneys and had a great response. Usually just setting up an extra 9 though. This will be the first time for a full 18...

The Alt. course will be used during the friday bring your partner doubles so people have a chance to play it before Saturday.

From the way it sounds. Pro and Adv. will play the normal 18 to start the day Saturday. Then play the alternate course in the afternoon. Then play the regular again sunday morning(baskets moved of course). Nov, Womens and I think Ams will be reversed of this.

Joe, did Florida get to sunny for you? Heard you moved back to Abilene. Congrats on the ace this weekend!

Yes! The Rotary club can now move forward with raising the funds to get the course installed. It will be on the property west of Cal Young (across the creek). Currently, they have bids from John Houck and Gateway Discs owner Dave McCormick to do the design and provide equipment. Exciting news indeed!

Good to hear you will be at the events! The first event is March 1

warlocks00
Feb 15 2008, 11:43 AM
That is some good news Jerry. Glad to hear things are moving along for you guys.

Hoping to make a few of your series myself....but not the one on March 1st. We have a work day scheduled then to get the lake course in good shape for the Crush.

Got the custom stamped disc order sent off yesterday to Discraft. Can't wait to see these disc when they come in.

Feb 21 2008, 02:17 PM
Hey Jason,Why don't you give us an idea of what disc will be for sell and for pay-out.

warlocks00
Mar 03 2008, 09:40 AM
Had a work day Saturday out at the lake course. Got all of the teeboxes either smoothed, moved, or replaced. We also painted them all white so they would be easy to see. Fixed or replaced a few sleeves. Got to weld tabs on a few next Saturday at the next work day. Most of the teemarker posts are reset. Trash can's are all emptied. Really we got a lot done, and make next week's work day a lot easier.

The moving of some of these teeboxes are going to change up the course quite a bit....might want to get out and play it before the tourney....all though the baskets won't be in there first round tourney places until Saturday's work day.

Brad, discs I ordered for payout and to sell are:
Z-Avengers(come on I hope there are some blue ones)
Z-Flash
Z-Wasp
ESP-Avenger SS
ESP-Pulse
ESP-Surge
Crystal FLX Buzzz
FLX Surge

Really wanted to order some Reapers, but it wasn't on the list this year. They will all be stamped with the logo that is on the flyer. We also ordered minis(non-stamped) to add to the player packs, as well as T-shirts, towels(crush logo on them), stickers, pencils, ect.

Things are shaping up nicely for this event. Can't wait....it's only 2 weeks away now!!!

I think they are trying to get some online reg. going, but that's not my deal. Will let you know though if it happens.

What you can do is, I can fax you an entry form, and you could mail it in. At least as of now. Or there will be registration open on friday during the doubles round. Let me know if that is something you want to do. Just email me a number.

I would also like to register for this event along with many other Windriders from Lubbock :DSheri and I were in San Angelo today and the course looked great! I had never played this course and I can't wait to play in this years CRUSH. Thanks to Nick and Scott for showing us the course today it was killa. See ya'll soon....

Mar 05 2008, 10:01 AM
Glad to hear you liked the course, and that you guys are coming down for your first Crush....also glad to hear someone was out there to show you the layout. It can get confusing out there without help on your first time. Several of the baskets will be moved by next weekend, so it will look different.

Carl told me he had given a bunch of Windriders entry forms...was that to you, or do you want me to send you one? Just give me a fax number if you do.

If you need to mail them in:

Cortese Flag & Silkscreen
1602 W. Beauregard Ave
San Angelo, Texas 76901

Might put something about the Crush or attention Jason so it gets to the right place.

We're a week and a half out...can't wait for it to finally get here. Means I can finally stop digging holes and working on the course and play it!!!

Yes sir Brad, Crush week is here.....I can't wait for this work week to get over so I (we) can have some fun and enjoy the courses. I think the test run on the alt. course went good yesterday, will be a nice change up from the big course.

Especially can't wait for the glow round Saturday.....I'm(with the help of my past two random draw partners) the 2 time defending champ...............I keep telling everybody I just close my eyes and the trees just seem to go away!!!

I think we got 14 Warlocks playing this year.

Come on friday!!!

Mar 11 2008, 10:50 AM
The alternate course was awesome. I can't wait to see how many aces are hit on it. Hopefully at least one (by me)!! By the way Jason, the only way that you will win the night glow this year is if you are my partner. BRING IT ON!!!

warlocks00
Mar 11 2008, 05:50 PM
Yeah I hope we don't have to go to a throw off again this year either on the ace pot. Hopefully this alternate course will produce some, or who knows maybe someone will hit one on the regular course . Patty did hit 18 not that long ago, so they are "hitable".

Is that a challenge??? I think I smell fear coming through that post!!!

brdgbrad
Mar 11 2008, 09:18 PM
I think we will see an ace hit...3 more days baby...Eric and I were just shy of first last year Jason,so I think your time is up...unless of course we end up partners....

warlocks00
Mar 12 2008, 09:47 AM
First JC, now you? Both of you can't be my partner, so one of you is going to have to lose....or both depending on how the flip goes. Good luck with it though!!! Who cares about the real tourney...night glow is where it's at!!! ;-)

Come on weekend!!! It's almost here and from the sound of it we are going to have no problem hitting 100 this year. Hope the rumors of who all is coming is true!

Jroc
Mar 12 2008, 04:44 PM
I predict about 120. I know of at least a dozen from Lubbock and Amarillo...and there may be as many as 20 from Abilene. Add another 20+ from San Angelo and a group from Big Spring....your looking at 75 or so right there. If those outside our region show up again this year and bring friends....

Looks to be a great turnout!! Getting excited...wish I could take off and set up a tent today!

warlocks00
Mar 13 2008, 10:19 AM
I think you maybe right Jerry....from the sound of things at least. You can tell it's getting close to tourney time, we had a big turnout for the mini last night, and a huge turnout for the mini sunday. Everyone is trying to get better at the last second.....

The Custom stamped disc are in, they look great. We'll have them for sell for $15 each as soon as I get out there Friday and through Saturday. Once Saturday's rounds are over they will get packaged up for payout, so they will not be avalible to buy on Sunday. Get your's early if you want one.....

Got a day and a half left fellas....come on Friday!!!

Jroc
Mar 13 2008, 12:57 PM
Friday and Sunday look to be pretty darn windy. Better bring plenty of back-ups :D

warlocks00
Mar 13 2008, 05:30 PM
Yeah I saw that on weather.com....wouldn't be anything out of the norm. for it to be windy during a West Texas disc golf tourney now would it. Wouldn't want to make it easy on anybody.....The club will have the stamped disc for sale, and some other discs. Then I will have a box of disc to sell between rounds to the more specific needs.

if you need anything just let me know....but yeah I would bring some backups just in case.

I think we're going to start about 5:30 or so....maybe a little earlier. Going to try and let the predicted 30mph(gust of 45) die down...

90 degrees today 75 tomorrow....gotta love West Texas!!

Well didn't hit the 100 player mark, got close though. Had a few locals that didn't show up that would have pushed us over the top. Maybe next year....

Want to thank all the people that came in from out of town....Lubbock, Amarillo, Abilene, Ft. Stockton, San Marcos, Austin, Big Spring, Sweetwater, and any other place I am missing. Also want to thank all the people that helped out in getting the course ready, the people that helped staff the event, and of course the local's that showed up to play as well. Thanks to Carl for TDing once again and allowing all of us to play.

Also need to thank our sponsors, without their support this event wouldn't be where it is today.

Hope everybody had a great time, I know I did even with my game blowing up Sunday....I'm sure I'll see some before then, but if I don't we'll see you next year!!!

Once again it was a great tournament. I like to thank Carl and the CVDGA for putting on a great tourny. You guys make it alot of fun and keep people coming back year after year. I had alot of fun and look forward to next year. I guess I'll have to reclaim my distance title next year. I'm going to have to work really hard to beat 685ft, but I think it can happen.LOL

Habert's throw was pretty crazy to watch. I was just happy to get mine out around 420'. Not a bad throw for me at all.........

Like you, and your long drive crown, I will have to try and regain my nightglow championship next year.
