We have just finalized the Player's Packs. Player's Packs will go to all amateurs. The Player's Packs alone will be worth the cost of the tournament for the Advanced Divisions. For all lower divisions, you will be getting a player's pack worth more (in some cases WAY more) than your registration fee.
In other words, IT WOULD BE DUMB NOT TO PLAY IN THIS YEAR'S LEXINGTON OPEN!
The Player's pack will be a $60 value. You will get 3 custom stamped discs, with each of the 3 stamps being different. The disc will include an Innova, Discraft, and Gateway. You will also get a custom tournament mini, and a tournament t-shirt, along with other, assorted odds and ins. It is a SWEET pack!
So get your registrations in. Register at www.njcpr.org (http://www.njcpr.org) or at www.pdgasignup.com. (http://www.pdgasignup.com.)

We (I'm) are working on that.
And I'm 89% certain of that......just kidding SoD...haha!
Thanks for reminding me about the hotel situation. :D
Theres a few Hotels I've been looking at @ Nicholasville/New Circle area and out by the interstate. I'll be checking on them in the next few days to see whome we can get any special deals with. Sorry we arn't as organized as you guys in BG. ;)
If worse comes to worse you can crash here, which doesn't do the other 269 players any good but at least you'll get a place to stay...haha!
No but really we'll get a list of hotels up and hopefully there won't be any horse bs to worry about like last year (The Rolex 3 Day Event)

As Drew metioned, we are working on a "host hotel." There are three hotels in Nicholasville (Super 8, Holiday Inn Express, and Econo Lodge) that are very close to the new course, along with many hotels in Lexington. We will be trying to get discounts for the tournament at specific hotels. We will post that information as soon as possible.

For the past several years, the Lexington Open has been played on two courses in Lexington: Shillito and Veterans Parks. This year's Open will incorporate a third course, Riney B Park in Nicholasville (a suburb of Lexington, just south of the existing courses).
Riney B is a new, 21 hole course. We will only be playing 18 holes during any given round of the tournament. To do so, we will be EITHER cutting out holes 2-4 OR cutting out holes 12-14. It will probably depend on the round and the skill level of the players (pros will do one thing while the Ints and Recs will do the other, etc.). Here is a link to a course map of the new Riney B Park: http://njcpr.org/disc-golf/riney_b_overhead_map.pdf
Hope to see lots of you there. Last year this A-Tier event had 172 golfers; we are hoping to top that this year.

We are now up over $7,000 cash added across all divisions. That means that the payouts for everybody, from Open down to Juniors will be absolutely and ridiculously SWEET. We are talking nearly 150% payouts. What that means is that each division will be receiving prizes worth 150% of what they paid in. And we are paying each division DEEP: a full 50% of the field. And did I mention the $60+ player's pack for every Am with 3 different custom stamped discs, a custom stamped mini, and a t-shirt? You really don't want to miss this tourney.

Just so you don't think we're crazy here in Lexington, let me explain. At one of our smaller, local events a couple of years ago, Everett Lasley (our great TD for the first 9 Lexington Opens) was playing Open and asked me if he was going to win a new car (like in ball golf) for winning the CTP.
This got me thinking. So I had my wife buy a Ferrari Hot Wheels car from Wal-Mart. Then at the awards ceremony, when we announced Everett's prize, I said that he had won "A BRAND NEW CAR!!!!" When I gave him the Hot Wheels, everybody busted up laughing.
Since then, it has just become tradition.

Any suggestions on a campground with a close proximity to the courses?
We have confirmed a camping spot about 7 miles away from the Riney B course. Ichthus (a large music festival) will allow participants in the Lexington Open X to camp on their grounds. It is primitive camping only (no electricity, no shower facilites and only a port-a-pot). We have also not worked out a price just yet. It should be very cheap, however.
The longitude and latitude of the property is: -84.6606,37.8806. The cool thing for disc golfing campers is that the property adjoins (with no fence, etc.) a 9 hole disc golf course, Centennial Park. Check it out at http://www.pdga.com/course/courses_by_city.php?id=2604. The PDGA course description will also give you good directions to the property.
If you are interested in camping, let me know at njcprsports@windstream.net.

Just bumping the thread and reminding everyone to get to Lexington this weekend. We have three courses in play this year and a good players pack. Vets and Shillito are still in play with the addition of the new Riney B course just down the road (12 minutes from Vets). Course just got nice concrete pads installed a couple weeks ago and is really coming around. Hope to see people from out-of-town heading this way. Jerry D
Is there still 2' tall grass and no tee signs at the new course? It's going to rain by weeks end, I have faith in the Lex people to get all the work finished in time. Also, when can we expect a course schedule for the divisions for this weekend.

Yes, the grass has been mowed. Yes, there will be tee signs (of a temporary nature) for the tournament. No, it will not rain as I have cancelled that. And thank you for your faith in the Lexington group. We really do have a great team working to make the event the best it can be.
As for the course schedule for each division, we have had that on various boards for some time. For some reason it has not come up on this one until now. This is, of course, tentative, but as of now here is the schedule:
Pros: Riney, Veterans, Shillito, Riney
Advanced: Veterans, Shillito, Riney, Veterans
Intermediate, Rec, Novice: Shillito, Riney, Veterans, Shillito
If we decide that we only need 2 pools, the schedule will look significantly different.

Check-in is at the Shillito Park shelter near Hole #10's basket at 8:00 a.m. The player's meeting is at the same place at 9:00 a.m. I have given directions below.
As far as hotels, here is some information that may be helpful. Here are some non-Lexington hotel contact numbers in and around Nicholasville (where the new course, Riney B, is located):
Econolodge -- 859-887-8712
Holiday Inn Express -- 859-885-8080
Super 8 -- 859-885-9889
Asbury Inn -- 859-858-2156 [in Wilmore]
Turfmor Motel (let me stress MOTEL) -- 859-858-4839 [in Wilmore]
And some Bed & Breakfasts:
Corner House B & B -- 859-881-5229
Scott Station Inn -- 859-858-0121 [in Wilmore]
Potter's Inn -- 859-858-0120 [in Wilmore]
There is also primitive camping in Wilmore on the Ichthus grounds.
Directions to Check-in/Player's Meeting location:

Follow the park road around until you pass the front 9 (you will see the baskets). The shelter is to the left of the large parking lot.
If you are coming on I-64 or south on I-75:
After I-64 and I-75 merge, take Exit 115: Newtown Pike, KY922. (From I-64 East or I-75 South, this will be the first exit after the freeways merge.) Take a right (south) onto Newtown Pike. Travel about a mile. Take a right onto New Cirle Road, KY 4 (going west or south). Follow New Circle around until the Nicholasville Road (U.S. 27) exit. Take a right (south) onto Nicholasville Road. You will need to be at the Player's Meeting on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. (Please see the post right above this one for directions.) Since you will need to there anyway, we will most likely not have any check-in or player's packs available on Friday. There is a chance, but we may be doing last minute things.
As far as a schedule, Here is the entire tournament's schedule:

- Best Shot Triples Format (Bring your own partners or come and be assigned some.)
- Three people per team with two teams per hole
- $5 a person or $15 a team ($1 per person goes to the BDGA for local course improvement.)
- $6 Group Ace Pool ($2 a person). If anyone in a group hits an ace, the group splits the pot.
- Groups will start at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m., 12:30 p.m., 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., and 2 p.m.
- Top 3 groups will be paid out Saturday morning at Player's meeting.
4:00 p.m. - 6:00p.m. Veterans Park Doubles (flex start)
- Best Shot Doubles Format (Bring your own partner or come and be assigned one.)
- $5 a person or $10 per team ($1 per person will go to support the E.D.G.E. disc golf program at James Lane Allen Elementary School.)
- $4 Group Ace Pool ($2 a person). If anyone in a group hits an ace, the group splits the pot.
- Top 4 groups will be paid out Saturday morning at Player's meeting.

9:00 a.m. Players Meeting @ Shillito Park Shelter
10:00 a.m. Round 1 Tee Off
1:00 p.m. Lunch Break
2:00 p.m. Round 2 Tee Off
Sunday
8:00 a.m. Round 3 Tee Off
11:00 a.m. Lunch Break
12:00 p.m. Round 4 Tee Off
3:30 p.m. Pre-Awards Activities @ James Lane Allen (JLA) Elementary School Grounds

Lyle gave me the file to upload and I set the courses properly for R3 & R4 today just before I rolled out of town so those ratings should be OK also. Lyle still needs to upload once more with payouts. First in Open was $1010 and half of all divisions were paid.
