My first question is: "I'm kind of confused how the 2007 Twin Oaks Open can be considered as a qualifier when we didn't even know until way after that event that this 2008 event was going to require qualifying. That might have changed my decision to play a local event that weekend instead of driving up to Twin Oaks."

It was pointed out: its because of the trouble last year at the event that caused it to become invite only

So, I'm asking not only my above question, but also: "So then it sounds like the trouble makers get the advantage of already having a qualifying event under their belts. How does that make sense? "

There were 2 individuals who were asked not to ever consider returning to Twin Oaks and therefore will not have the ability to accumulate points. Those 2 individuals have been banned from the course by the owners, not by me, but by the owners. It was also determined PRIOR to the event that 2008 would be "Invitational" and it was announced at the tournament. Some folks took it as being a result of the troublesome twosome, but that was not the case at all.

Look at it as being something like the Southern National Championships. In order to play you have to play in a qualifier. Those with the most points get the first invites. There is nothing new about what we are doing, just changing the format for this event since we see this tournament becoming one that will have a very large purse. In the past, our added cash has more than doubled the entry fees, and this year we want to make our added cash somewhere in the 400% of the entry fee range.

Heidi, I am sorry you chose not to come last year. I tried to encourage everyone to attend, stating it was one tournament you will not want to miss. You do still have 6 opportunities to get to a qualifier. We will be able to handle at least 200 golfers. Do you think that there are really that many that can acquire more point than you?
