April 12-13 at Wimberley, Texas. There has never been a Senior Grand Master division. John said he would add that division if he gets 3 teams. I play that division now and would like to see this happen. My long time doubs partner Vicente (Killer V) Trujillo is still a GM so I need a partner too. I can help with camping arrangements for any SGM's wanting to play. Let's make this happen! This is a fun tourney and the Texas Bluebonnets will be in full bloom.

2008 PDGA World Doubles
April 12-13 at Circle R Ranch Wimberley, Texas
Annual showdown between the world's top Amateur doubles teams
Each year the sport's up-and-coming Amateurs choose a partner and battle for the World Doubles Champion title. The tournament features two days of play on Circle R's two courses, and multiple formats of doubles play. All players must be current PDGA members with Amateur classification.
Everyone will play a round of Best Shot, one round of Best Disc, and one round of Alternating Shot. Teams that make the finals will play Best Shot, Best Disc, and Worst Shot. Best Shot, also known as "Scramble," is the most common format for doubles in disc golf. Players always throw from the same lie, picking the shot they prefer each time.
Best Disc, also known as "Best Score," is similar to singles. Both players play their own disc and take the better score on each hole.
In Alternating Shot, players take turns throwing throughout the course. If one player makes the putt, the other player drives on the next hole. In Worst Shot, players always throw from the same lie and take the worse shot every time. Both players must make their putts. Your division will determine which course you'll use for each format.
Divisions Offered
Advanced, Advanced Women, Advanced Master, Advanced Grand Master, Intermediate
$160 per team until March 12th, $170 after.

Do you happen to have a course map that you can e-mail to me? I would really like to get an idea of the layout of the course and distances of the holes. I know the website says that a hole by hole walkthrough of the courses is coming, but I doubt it will be ready by next weekend huh? This would really help me and my doubles partner out in our preperation. Thanks!

JerryChesterson
Apr 02 2008, 03:43 PM
Since it is a houck design regardless of weather they redesigned it or not you'll need the following shots ...
Backhand
Forehand
Thumber
Pancake
Scooby
Roller (forehand, backhand, and sky)
You'll also need to be able to throw it long, stragiht, accurate. In addition you'll need hyzers, anhyzers, S shots. Did I miss anything? :D

Nah, no design changes. Same layout as normal... regular Hill and Meadows.
I'll add that the courses will have new tee signs... and they're good :D ... so you'll be able to plan good shots even if you haven't played it that many times.

The map of Rolling Meadows, hole 17, shows:
red @ 193
white @ 189
blue @ 221
Is that correct?
ZAMson
Apr 11 2008, 01:14 AM
On RM 17, the white is slightly shorter, but it carries water, and the red tee does not. Shorter but more risk from the white tee.

Just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU from all the San Angelo Gang(Warlocks)...to all the people that made this weekend happen....had a blast this weekend, like always at Circle R. Can't wait till the next event I get to attend there.
ps...if anyone finds a redish orange Champ. Aviar Big Bead with a warlock head dyed on it, I would love to have it back. Heard at one point it was in the lost and found....but by the time I had gotten there it was gone. Thanks for any help!!
CIRCLE R ROCKS!!!

John and staff, thank you very much. It was fun as always. The new tee signs are sweet and courses were in great shape.
Special thanks for spotting to Mitch and Fishhead who I kept busy every time through holes 7 & 8. Also big props to Joe for never once kicking me in the nads even though I probably deserved it and it wouldn't have hurt him since he really playing singles against the rest of the field anyway.

So, what I'm hearing is that Lou should have caddied for Joe and every third hole or so, Joe should have belted Lou.........just for good measure. Then there would be balance in the world. ;)
