I have a few things to announce

First of all....

I'm excited to announce the Susan G. Komen for the Cure - Austin Chapter as the official HOTT breast cancer awareness charity. We CAN make a difference! Soon we will have 'Texans for Tatas' items for sale on the TeamJustice website and at all The HOTT by Disc Nation events. It is my pleasure to announce that 100% of all net profits from 'Texans for Tatas' t-shirts will go directly to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure!

Next and kinda cool

Millennium Golf Discs has seriously stepped up to the plate for HOTT 2008!

Thanks to Millennium Golf Discs, there will be $75,000 in HOTT Hole-In-One contests this year!!!!

Red Rock Show will have a $10,000 Hole-In-One Contest sponsored by Millennium Golf Discs!

Every event player will get a shot! No, it will not be during your competitive round.......YES, YOU could make history!!!!!

:D

I'm thinkin' throwin' a Millennium disc on a Millennium sponsored Hole-In-One for $10,000 could very well bring someone some most excellent Karma!

.... :D

I talked to David Moody a couple of nights ago.
$5 to camp Sat night
$5 greens fees for Sun mini
$5 entry fee for Sun mini

This is mainly for Ams. He's discounting all his plastic for the weekend.

Pros are welcome to run a mini at the same time if they come out.

I have a couple questions about this event.

Most importantly, how would one go about finding directions to the place, I didn't see them on the course directory and have no idea where it is.

Is the course open for practice on Friday, and if so, are greens fees considered paid for as part of the entry for the tournament or will they need to be paid for Friday also?

You get to schedule tee times and payout before the event even starts.
Speaking of payout how much cash is added to each pro division?
And who rented the cabin and is there a poker game?

mitchjustice
Mar 10 2008, 02:01 PM
The "Staff" have the cabin...Fishead and Sheldon...added cash will be divided by all pro's...today we have 39 total pros, splitting $750...but I think we will have room for 1 or 2 more MPM's and 1 more FPO... so that number will probably change...If I did payout with these numbers, we would add...

$400 Open
$250 Pro Master
$100 Pro Women

The shot will be 300'
It will not be a hole on the course.
It will be mostly flat (as flat as Moody's gets).
All event participants get a shot at it (except me :(......they say I'm not eligible).
We will be recording the shots from the tee & basket views.
The contest will be held Sunday after the finals.

It's real tasty. It's pretty much a winter version of Fat Tire (similar taste but more hops and a higher alcohol%).

Great winter ale - hopefully a little strong for the average beer drinker.

If every campsite that had a fire had a keg also, how many cans & bottles would be kept out of the trash this weekend? :confused:How much less money would we spend? :) How much more beer could we drink? :D

Don't forget - pack it in, pack it out... All the way out, not just to the corner.

2 Below, ahhhhhh yes!

True, 'tis a tasty seasonal Ale from our friends in Fort Collins, CO. They know beer there. They have to, there is eight breweries around the area. You can use the trail system and bike to all eight of them, well I guess that is another story........................

Moody's tomorrow, yeah baby! Des is feeling the 10 G's

300 feet into a 20-30 mph headwind a few came close but most came up short. I can only throw 300 feet with a tail wind so I didn't even come close. Rules were no skippers and no deflections off trees. I was a Biatch. I got my 1st Masters cash!!

It was acctually a little over 350 when walked off. And it was uphill with a 20 mph right to left wind, with a tree guarding the right side half way to the bucket. So no good righty hyzer line. I remember seeing only three or four discs past the bucket, and those where only feet past it. But it was fun to say the least! Great tourney you guys put on! And Moody's in awesome!

LouMoreno
Mar 17 2008, 01:04 PM
There's no way that was 350'. Your steps must've been shorter on Sunday evening after all the walking this weekend. :) My disc was 20-25 ft short and anyone that's seen me throw can testify that I can't throw 330' on flat ground, much less uphill.

Mitch & staff, thanks. It was a blast as always.

Mar 17 2008, 01:14 PM
I stepped it off also, and I can tell you that I got paced it at 375', but given the error that my pace is at times, it could have been as short as 350' or as long as 400', but no way it was anything less than 350. I walked it twice and came up with 125 paces both times. My feet are almost exactly 12 inches long (and I'm not bragging) and my pace is usually within a few meters of being correct. I've seen you throw a few times and I'm just guessing that you picked up someone else's disc Lou :) Either way, it was obvious that there was only a small handful of people throwing (like 10) that could actually reach the basket at the right height for a non-skip ace, and in reality only 2 or 3 actually did get that far. Uphill or not, I'm pretty sure if the shot were a true 300ft a few more would have been past it. Hey number 11 from the red tee box was 595 feet, so this one really should have been closer to 550 according to those measurements :)

Yeah, it was a really great time. Not really complaining about the Ace Contest thing. Just wondering if we shouldn't start something that keeps us from paying the way for the insurance companies. Maybe a $2 a shot ace contest from about 250 out. I bet by the time it was hit you'd be talking about somewhere close to a few thousand dollars anyway... Just ideas... use the insurance amount as seed money.

So by that calculation, my straight laser shot that ended up hitting the pin would have at least rang some chains up had it been 10-20 closer  :p

Great job Team Justice! Thanks to everyone that volunteered and paid into the EDGE raffle for $660. This is great timing as EDGE just granted a complete disc golf equipment and curriculum package to Cedar Creek Intermediate just down the road from Moody's. :D

That was a great Final 9 there, Olsie. And how about that human prune, Metal Mike!

SuperGirl (Nicole) had a great time this weekend. Team Justice ran a nice tournament. She really enjoyed the company of the women she played with. The courses at Moodys place were very nice. It is great to have tournaments on such a nice piece of land. The highlights for Nicole were:

Getting her first ace ever! It was on hole 10, 1st round, red tees, on her 1st throw of the tournament.
Almost getting a 2nd ace by hitting chains on hole 8 (mando hole, white tees) in round 2.
Making par on hole 1 from the white tees. She had 2 big drives and made a 12 foot putt for par. The distance for the hole was listed as 642 feet. It was the longest hole she has ever made a 3 on.
Playing well in the wind. She normally has trouble in the wind since she mainly throws 150 gram plastic. However she handled to wind nicely this weekend.
Watching Des and the other pro women play the final 9. They are very good!

The only lowlight was getting a 2 stroke penalty at the end of round 1 for not totaling her score card. But rules are rules and we will definitely not make that mistake again :D. And since she lost the advanced womens division by 3 strokes, the 2 stoke penalty did not really change the outcome of the tournament. So everything turned out ok.

ThanksRick and Nicole

PSWe really enjoyed lunch at the course this weekend; Compliments to the chef. And thanks to Metal Mike for getting Nicoles discs out for the water.

What a great weekend.

Special thanks to the Moody family, Mitch, the HOTT Staff, Q-chef, ZAM, all the Sponsors, Metal Mike.....who got back 2 of the 5 discs I threw in the water (2 the weekend before), everyone who bought a raffle ticket &/or Texans For Tatas shirt, and my sister.

The CTPS, HIO Contest, and raffle were all fun!

Yeti.....how are those Millennium discs workin' for ya?

;)

I think for future HOTT events there will be some end-of-the-event time management adjustments so we don't finish so late. Other than that, and a few unfortunate back-ups, everything went smoothly.

How about that 'Dave Henge'? :D.....fun stuff!

See everyone at the Gonzo Liberty Battle!

Mitch and Patty;

The Red Rock show ratings for the Advanced Women are incorrect for Rounds 1 and 2. They got rated as if they played the same tees as the Pro's and advanced men. Please look into this. Nicole and I hope to see you at COTO.

Thanks............Rick
