Here is what I can say at this point.

There will be 20 events.
There will be 4 regions (Charlotte and West, Triad, Triangle, East of 95)
Your top 15 events count towards your total. If you play all 20, your 5 lowest point totals will be dropped. If you played 15, all 15 of your events count. If you played 12, all 12 of your events count.
To qualify for the championship you must play 1 event in each region.

The schedule is set, just waiting on the TD's of the 20 events to respond to Kirk.

The first event will be Buckhorn.

Aug 31 is a Sunday.

According to the NC Calender Kirk emailed all TDs...

OHO is the 30th and 31st
Hickory is the 6th and 7th

Hickory has been the first weekend in September for a long time, it just usually fits in with labor day, just not this year.

Mike and I have been bouncing this around (with input from TD's all over the state) for quite some time.

We actually wanted to try a couple of other things but we decided to limit the changes for this year.

I spent a lot of time trying to balance the series as much as possible.

For those of you that have argued forever that Raleigh has a travel advantage over Charlotte you are right but not by as much as you think:

All of these numbers are based on Mapquest times and distances. When all is said and done yes Raleigh has a slight advantage in drive time. Raleigh has about 34 minutes less travel time on average than Charlotte has to any given event in the NC Points Series.

Here are all of the distances and times from Mapquest:

From Charlotte to:

Mountain Region
Charlotte 0 - 0
Yadkinville 73 miles - 1:10 hrs
Charlotte 0 - 0
Jefferson 122 miles - 2 hrs
Hickory 57 miles - 1 hr

Wilmington - 190 miles - 3:10 hrs
Kinston - 240 miles - 4 hrs

I am pleased to see the changes you guys made. I like the equal value and divisional breakdowns. I also like the events that are listed. I REALLY like that points are not reset. If you earn them, you should get to keep them. You guys did an awesome job listening to players from last years series and tweaking it to make it fair. I know it took a lot of work. Of course Raleigh has a travel advantage over Charlotte, it always has, it always will, and it SHOULD. Raleigh is somewhat centrally located in the state, that is one of many reasons it was chosen as the capital ~200 yrs ago. In similar fashion, Asheboro dg'ers will have an average travel time ~3 HRS LESS than golfers based out of Murphy, NC or Cape Hatteras.
I don't think there is much more that these guys could do to make it any more fair for golfers statewide. Great job!!!
