How are you doing points for the end of year prizes? 1 point for the for every dollar of winnings?

DISConnected
Jan 12 2008, 11:22 PM
Instead of being paid in dollars, Ams build up points. $1 in winnings equals 1 point. They can be cashed in anytime they want. Trophies awarded for first, second, and third overall points.

The trophies and an end of year awards ceremony will be paid for out of the club fund.

Ok, a rookie question here. Are you giving out both cash and points to Ams? Or is the $4 payout going to the club fund, or for more plastic? Since I play Am (everyone insert your wisea$$ remark here) money in my pocket and plastic in my bag sounds like a bigger better deal!

DISConnected
Jan 13 2008, 10:41 AM
The $7 Ams entry fee breaks down like this:

The $4 is paid out to the top half of the field in points instead of dollars. If 10 ams play that night, 40 points are split among first through fifth place. So if you place first, you will get around 15 points, second place 11, third place 8, etc.

You accumulate points until you decide to cash them in for discs. You choose the discs you want from our inventory.

The $1 CTP is paid out to the CTP winner in cash.

The $1 Ace Pot goes into a fund. At the end of the league, the players who have hit aces during the league will split the ace pot.

The club fund $1 will go toward trophies and a less-expensive-than-in-previous-years awards ceremony.

We are doing it this way so that we can use all the plastic the club owns and get the club's money back out of it. There's nothing wrong with it--it's mostly Star plastic left over from the Live Oak Summer Open last year.

This is more than likely a one year deal. Once the club plastic is gone, Ams will go back to cash payouts. Unless they decide they like it, and we can keep doing it. Lots of clubs pay Ams in plastic.

It just looked like the payout was going to be more than the club was taking in.

League play starts Tuesday, March 11 at Universal City.

Tuesdays at UC, Thursdays at Live Oak. Singles both days.

One nice feature we are reintroducing for the League will be that Ams will get points just for coming out.

So even if you don't "cash", you will still get a point. Those points will accumulate and can be cashed in at any time.
One point equals one dollar in merchandise.

I'll have the league rules sheet available very soon.

Now if we can just get a league going on Monday (maybe pearsall) we'd have all the days covered except Friday.

Dave,
If you are planning on running minis at Pearsall how about on Monday's? SADC has been planning on having Wednesday League (its been posted a few times) and to avoid conflicts, and to allow for maximum number of people to play, maybe Monday would be a good night for Pearsall. Then we'd have the whole week loaded with minis all throughout SA Metro.

No. SADC has our own "operating fund" we need to get going. We need money for our upcoming PDGA Sanctioned Tournaments and other things for San Antonio City Courses. We will help other local clubs when we can.

No. What does that question have to do with the topic at hand (mini scheduling)?

What about the mini on Monday's at Pearsall. Will you committ to that? That will set us all up for Minis on Monday - Thursday, Saturday & Sunday all within the metro area.

Paul Taylor
Jan 24 2008, 08:59 PM
Why are we trying to reason with a one man club. Let ACDC have their mini's, all that is happening here is that somebody is trying to find a way to disaccociate the two clubs that really count. If LODGA and SADC keep trying to out do the other and don't start talking and come to a united front, then the disc golf community here in this part of the world will be worst off than what it was.

We have all, except one, taken a positive step forward, lets not take two steps back.

More to come on another thread.

Starting this Thursday, we are going to try Doubles, probably in random draw format.

Meet at hole 28. Points earned still count toward league totals.

This will help Ams earn more points then normal, right?

Ams will pay their usual fees, so they will get the usual payout.
But, depending on their partner, they have a chance to gain ground on the am baggers, I mean leaders. :D

A little confused ... do ams and pros pay the same amount?

DISConnected

Kicking that around...

Option 1: Have everyone, pros included, pay the AM entry fee. This is how Carlos runs Sunday dubseveryone pays the same entry.

If you do that:

The current am payout tables will be used for everyone
Pros get a break on entry fees, but of course their payout is lower (not only because of the lower entry but also because ams are paid out at 50% of the field and pros are paid out at 30%.)

Option 2: Everyone pays their normal entry

If you do that:

Pros get paid according to their usual payout, ranked by their doubles team score
Ams get paid according to their usual payout, ranked by their doubles team score.

I prefer Option 1...everyone pays the same entry...$7 for members, $8 for non-members.

Thoughts?

I do as well ... it would be fair for a pro to pay more and compete against other pros and then have the potential for a pro/am card and a pro/pro card. Plus it just sounds simpler.

Thanks Frosty for running the mini last night...had a great time.

John has agreed to run Thursday minis on an interim basis. He decided on a variation of option 2 above, and it worked out just fine. He did such a good job, in fact, we are trying to convince him to make this his mission in life, or at least until he gets a real job.

There is no pay, but the rewards...well, there are no rewards.

Everyone please come out and give it a shot. Just remember I am new at this TD thing so please be patient, but I will do my best and am open to suggestions.

What time Thursday since I might actually have a chance to play. Assuming the table at 28.

Current rule 5
--------------
Cash Payouts: Players must stay and receive their cash payout before leaving the event. If a player leaves and does not receive their cash, the cash is forfeited to the Ace Pot.

New Rule 5
----------
Cash Payouts: Players must make arrangements to receive their cash payout before leaving the event. Arrangements can be made with anyone other than the TD. If a player leaves and does not receive their cash and does not make arrangements to have someone receive their cash, the cash is forfeited to the Ace Pot.

In other words, if Frank wants to/needs to leave, it is up to Frank to designate someone to receive their cash. If the TD does not know what to do with the cash and there is no one there that says I am getting Franks's money for him, then the cash is forfeited.

Hey kids - if any of you have free time today & or Thursday, we need a hand. The boxes are being installed at Wilco & the concrete truck arrives today & Thursday @ 3pm. The Double R could sure use a few extra hands - just show up, there will be pleanty to do. Thanx if you're able to help out. :) Sunday will be the 1st mini with concrete pads @ Wilco if you can make that. :)

I see what you all are trying to do with the "Pro/Am" Random Draw Doubles but there are not always going to be the same number of Pros and Ams. Your going to have teams with 2 Pros and teams with 2 Ams. I personally don't care too much about the 2 stroke penalty given to the 2 Pro Card. Why not have a "true" Random Draw Doubles and just let players draw cards, don't try and make them Pro/Am. Maybe we can all pay the same price too. ;) If not......I say let's go back to singles.

Everyone should start off at even. :p

Aug 01 2008, 07:56 AM
When it was singles we were down to 8-10 players on Thursdays. We felt we needed to do something, so we changed the format, and the turnout is slowly coming back.

Personally I think doubles is more suited to Live Oak on a weeknight because of the length of the course--people want to get finished at a reasonable time.

Ams can learn a lot by having a Pro partner. If we can help newer players progress to being better players, then they will eventually move up!

Joe
Aug 01 2008, 10:45 AM
With 3 other days of singles it is good to throw out a doubles option. As a "forever" am, I don't mind carrying a pro. ;)

opereida
Aug 01 2008, 04:54 PM
OK, so stay with Doubles but don't give any strokes to any team. Paying Ams out in plastic will get them to move up. That was the best decision I thought you alll made for this years League. As soon as SADC has an Inventory and funds where we can keep ordering merchandise, we will start doing that too. No Ams get paid cash....in any sport. :o

When we started the league, we planned on going all the way until daylight savings time ended in November. However, that would put the party pretty late in the year, and it could be a little chilly for swimming, etc.

I would like to get feedback on this:

What if we end the League early - September 18th, and have the League party September 27th? That's about the only open weekend I see in September and October.

Trophies to top 10 in each division. If you were in the top 10, and were not at the party, I will have them at next weeks Sunday 10/5 mini, or PM me to make other arrangements.

A Johnny Wolf bonfire, and a fine one. Another fire, at an alternate location...awaiting details on that one...

There was beer, flashflight "guts", poker. I cut out about 11, and the party was going strong.

Thanks for coming to our minis thie year. We are looking to change things up in 2009 so let us know any suggestions you might have for formats. Right now we are thinking three separate shorter sessions: spring, summer, and fall.
