Anyone have any expirience with these:
http://www.salomonrunning.com/us/products/XA-Comp-3-GTX-US-1-4-8-439861.html
http://www.salomonrunning.com/us/products/XA-Pro-3D-XCR-US-1-4-8-418349.html
Or any other Salomon testimonials would be nice.
I'm thinking about getting some new kicks and i might try out some salomon instead of a new pair of Merrells. Any Merrell vs. Salomon pro/cons would be nice too.

I won a pair of the Pro-D's as part the payout for a tournament. Nice shoes, but they didn't hold up for disc golf. I was shoe-gooing them within a couple of weeks.

I had a pair of Salamons - similar to the XA Comp 3 (might have been a previous model) - loved the fit and feel. Had to order replacement laces (they have a different lace system) and they wore out pretty quick overall. Despite that, i'm considering getting a new pair, though probably won't use them for disc golf (maybe for a casual round, but not for a full day of tournament play). The Salomons i had also had little in the way of arch support (more give and flex, less support).
I'm now using Columbia Trail Shoes - http://www.famousfootwear.com/product.asp?product_id=1009221&variant_id=15079 .
I had a couple pairs of Merrill boots. Hard to compare between Merrill and Salomon because of the type of shoes they were (trail running vs. hiking boots). The Merrills were more durable; i'd expect that Merrill trail shoes would be more durable, too.

Anyone know if they have removable insoles or if they're glued down?

Should be removable. I have a pair of last years models I got at REI on closeout I think that were $75 full gortex. And I've put some gel insoles in mine without a problem.
They are ok but just a tad narrow for me. I rotate them and a pair of Merrils (?SP) between morning and afternoon rounds. And as another wearer warned me don't pull the laces too tight and they should last a long time. Too tight and they tend to break. Unless they've changed them on newer shoes.

From my personal experience Saloman's last for a few months and then start to tear, but I've had my Merrill's for quite a while and they still look new, but they arent as comfortable as the Salomans so it can make it hard to choose between comfort and durability. I chose durability because I cant afford new shoes every 3-4 months, but Salomans are still great shoes.

Haven't tried their running shoes. But I've had several pairs from Salomon's X-mountain light hiking line. Comfy, great grip/traction on most surfaces, and each has lasted at least 2 seasons of DG-ing for me. Think the ones I had was called Solaris and Solaris II.

My Salomon hikers have lasted through a couple of rough MI winters and are still good. The lace loops broke and I sent them in and they repaired them and shipped them back free of charge.

i have two pair of the salomon xa pro 3d's and my only complaint is the sole wear. a bit to fast for me. but this may be in part to the amount of concrete they see. i dont think they are designed to be ruffed up on concrete pads. in the trail they perform awesome. both of my pair are non goretex and they dry and breath like they arent there. great shoes. just watch how tight you tigthen the laces and try not to thrash them on concrete.

I have both of those models. The sole on the Comp is much more aggressive for lack of a better word. They are a good shoe and the sole does take more abuse ala the cement tee pad than others.
The Pro D is one of the most comfy shoes I have. So much so that I bought a pair of the non-Gortex variety and wear them around and to work most days.
I also have a pair of Merrells. Which I like fine. All three of these shoes have the funky lacing system. People are correct in that you don't want to cinch them up too tight. The shoe isn't made to be worn that tight and it stresses the laces too much.
If you are someone who really cranks and grind the toe or heel of your foot when you tee off from cement, you are going to grind the rubber off of any shoe. The problem with finding a good disc golf shoe is that one shoe (plant foot) takes much more punishment than the other. It's not a motion that you find in many other sports. Other sports may have the same general motion, but it happens on grass and with cleats.
My best advise to extend the life of your disc golfing shoes is to not wear them all the time. Have several pairs depending on the type of course you are playing.

I love my Merrells. Just get them at REI, you can take them back even if you tear them up!

I wear out my plant foot ball of the sole, but I also quickly wear out my left instep from my last step before planting. Usually, that edge gets rounded off within a few months.

I have been wearing the same pair of salomon's for the last year and half. I don't have any complaints with them what so ever. I use them only for disc golf in all weather conditions. Try their X-mountain line versus there Running line and you should get a little more longevity.

I will be purchasing another pair of Salomon's once I wear these out.

I switched back to New Balance after returning 3 pairs in less than 2 months. I have had Walmart shoes last longer.
After talking with other local golfers, I dont think Im the only one that has issues.

Are these true to size? How narrow do they seem?

I find that the Salomon's are a bit on the narrow side compared to the Merrills I have.

oh, ok... narrow, not good. I have a pair of north face gore tex hedgehogs and they're too narrow....
merrell seems to accomodate a wide foot well.

Salomon's do tear after a short time....They did provide excellent water-proofness (is that even a real word?) anyway until the tear, they were great..

I have found them to be on the narrow to medium side. Since I have narrow feet this works great for me.
I will be buying a new pair of the X-mountain line in the near future. I haven't used there running line so I don't know how they hold up.

<font color="brown"> WORD TO THE WISE-
Solomon's feel great in the store, I think they are made by addidas and have a very "cushy", soft feel. However great they may be on trails and for trail running, the soles cannot withstand the rigors of concrete teepads. I had my pair for a week before whole nubs began to come loose and seperate from the sole. I had to scissor the pieces off and now have gaping holes where there should be a sole. 100 bones down the drain.
I have seen this time and time again with Solomons. Buyer beware. </font>

I have had a pair of Solomons that I wear every day to play Fritz Park from the concrete pads. The soles are not as aggressive as trail running shoes. They are lower profile lugs ^v^V kind of this design all the way across the bottom verse lugs. On the other hand my merrells for a week of play and lugs started completely out of the sole. Sent them back and got a new pair (great customer service). My old Solomons are still ten times more comfortable!

Well I'm about to buy 2 pairs of salomons to alternate for playing disc golf, and as I can't offer any testimonials on their durability I can say that every shoe reacts to every person differently. People swear by Merrels but the pair of chameleons I had were maybe one of the worst pairs of shoes I have ever had. The whole inside of the heel area wore out and tore up, got some sole peel and the leather was cracking up. I won't ever get another pair of merrels, but that is just me.
But since I've been looking at getting some salomons pretty quick, I would recommend getting them at moosejaw.com.
The new yellow and black xa comp 3 gtx are $110 but if you put in the coupon code "MAXIMUS", you get 15% off and free shipping, so you can pick them up for under a Benjamin.
I also like the new speedcross 2 from salomon, those are also $110 but you can use the same coupon code and get 15% off these too.
Hope I helped a little.

First couple of days they suck. The arch is ridged but they break in quick. I just bought two pair to have three in rotation. They dry slow if they get wet because they have alot of padding. Super light though. If I was in a real wet environment I would not wear them.

Flat wide footed people are better off staying away from these shoes, the Salomon's have quite the defined arch, and stiff to start, and are for more narrow footed people.
I used to work at an EMS, and was a "foot guru", I have experience across the board.
The best disc shoes I have seen/played in thus far has been the Chameleon Wrap XCR's made by Merrell, I find that if a shoe has a flat edge (on the side) they break down quickly, at least for me, as I scrape my back foot through my follow through... The Merrell are more rounded, and have lasted me 3 seasons now.
