On a whim, I pulled off of 130 to check out the rumored new course in Falcon Pointe. It is AWESOME! The designers have done several clever things.

For example, the course weaves back and forth across the hike & bike trail the whole way - so no more walking down those pesky fairways; you just throw your drive, and walk down the trail to the basket.

Good mix of holes too - there are short ones about 280' in length to tease us Ams, as well as a number of 300' monsters to test the big guns. All laid out along a nice drainage consisting entirely of a substance I generally refer to as "mud."

I know, I know, you're thinking "I'm there!"

But, wait, it gets even better... The concrete tee pads are in! Each one is conveniently located a hop, skip, and jump (literally - about 25' to 30') from the previous basket. Not only does this prevent those awkward "um, where is the next tee?" situations, but you get an outrageously great view of the incoming drives from the group behind you!

No way it can get any better right?? Cormack is smoking crack again, right? Think again. In a flash of genius, the tee pads have been poured SIDEWAYS. (yes, you read that correctly) Need to tighten up that x-step? This is your course! You have a whooping 2.5' of concrete on which to do it. Don't trip on that lip! As an added bonus, if you are really jonesin' for those lame "long" tee boxes, you can just play the course in reverse and work on your 25' x-step putts!

So, who's going to organize the weekly mini? Chris? Vinnie? :D

I played this course about a month back and emailed the subdivision developer to tell them the course had issued. I also told them that someone from Waterloo would be glad to help fix the course. I got a response telling me my email would be forwarded to the landscape architect who designed the course. I guess they will get the message when they get sued by someone who gets whacked while walking on the walking path.

Played the "Jewel" Tuesday morning.

An 18 hole putter course. Basket 11 is missing or was not installed, so I played one long hole (at least I could throw a driver) 11's tee to 12's basket. Dunked my driver into the pond (guess I should have stuck with my putter :).

Those "sideways" concrete tees are a trip! I don't think anyone will get hurt on the walking trails or on the tee boxes right next to the previous basket because the course is SOOO short and wide open that you would have to be able to see anyone that is danger of getting hit.

A true Putt Putt disc golf course, nice double chain Disc Catcher baskets. I wonder if the park owners would spring for 18 mini-baskets too.

I might see how it plays going tee #1 to hole #2's basket, tee #3 to basket #4, then play the 2nd nine, tee #2 to basket #3 etc...

If I lived in the neighborhood I would use the park, but I do not see going back anytime soon. It is nice to only carry one disc, more room in the bag for CFO's.

LOL. I played Wells Branch with Killam about 4 years ago. I took a 7 on one hole near a building. Toughest hole in Austin. Never have taken a 7 at Round Rock. :D

Why the Donkeystility Vinnie? Are you questioning Wells Branch having the hardest hole in Austin, or me not ever taking a 7 at the Rock?

No, it wasn't the hilltop apartment hole. It was a hole with a narrow fairway created by a building and a creek and steep bank.
