LOL! I'm sorry but I read posts all day about players not wanting longer discs because they're afraid it's going to make courses too short and I point out that courses are short because people like their birdies and then someone comes on here and proves me right.

Moffitt ain't popular because it's good, it's popular 'cause it's easy. You want to play a good course hit OM or (I hear) Spring Valley or at least Tom Bass, but don't put Moffitt and GREAT in the same sentence.

Ok Buck a stroke? :DBelieve me I have way more control than most players and I'm sure I have more skill than most so it isn't because I suck that I say the course isn't good it is because it ISN'T!

Lyle, I would have to disagree, Moffitt is popular due to it's location, pure and simple. If a more challenging course was closer to the masses, we'd have more skilled golfers. I wish that SV or Bass or even OM was closer, but distance, traffic and the cost of gas has made them less attractive for quick/easy golf during the week.

your notion of a control course may be mistaken. You want a control course, try Mason or Oak Meadows. Moffitt is many things but it isn't a real control course. Yes, it has one or two holes that have "some" control element, but most are too short to really push the player much.

You need to have a combination of both, control and distance... on the same hole. BTW - I won't play head to head for money, but I'll bet on Matt in this little to-do.

Excellent point Sue, but that doesn't negate the point that Moffitt isn't much of a course. I'd still argue that part of it's attraction is that it's easy. If that weren't part of the issue the crowds that hit OM at the start would still be out there. Too bad MacGregor isn't more centrally located, not a great course, but way better than Moffitt.

Matt I live right here so you can pick the time and I'll even BBQ for after the round.. :D...nobody said it can't be fun :cool:Lyle you come too and bring all your freinds and we can get a HEARD tossin' and if there is some constructive comments I don't see why we can't put in alt pin locals....I would say tees but they are soooooo nice! Plint being PLAY KINGWOOD and it will only get better...the boy scout troop has done a pretty nice job...for the manpower and equipment available.

The REAL point to this would be STOP complaining :mad:if you are not going to do anything about the situation...if all the complainers would hold a work day on these so called "bad" courses then we would have some nicer courses :Dmy 2c

Yes, MacGregor is a more interesting play, but unless you are at UH, or work downtown, med center, it is just the wrong side of toown. Could you even imagine if we had a course like OM closer in. As it is............Spring Cypress/Fry Rd. is like a lifetime away when stuck in 290 traffic. Heck, you could play a whole round at Moffitt in the time it would take to get there.

As for the attraction being easier, that is something we'll never know for sure, as we don't have an in town awesome and technical course to put up against it.

I would like to believe most of those casual golfers who live in the general area would love to have more challenging golf at their finger tips. Oh well. I think if you look at other metro areas with in town challenges (Pease), folks don't stay away cause they're hard. Don't dish Houston folks for playing "easy" when "challenging"is not as readily available.

Only hope is the school property to the east of the park, keep our fingers and toes crossed.......it could happen.

I for one would not play OM much if it were closer. The only exception would be to play with friends but that course is uber boring if you ask me.

Never played Kingwood, so I have no opinion on it. Think I would love a better course close to my house.......YES!

And your game is such that what is a slam dunk for you is a bloody miracle for me. But I do agree that the best aren't the closest to me casa.

I am not an advocate of Moffitt, but don't like folks implying it is played just cause it is easy, it is the location.

As for Bass, how can one say it is the best when many times the grass is high, the skeeters carry off small children and EVERYONE drowns in the two inch layer of water that covers it from time to time. LOL j/k

I will have to say that I played one of the courses at Quail Valley last week with Jen, and it was a nice change of pace. Not just an easy walk in the park, remember Neal is involved along with some other wicked evil designers who are sure to challenge the best of us.

Come to TSDGC in April!

I never said that it was going to be bad I just said that I had a little bit of doubt that it would be better than Bass. If Don is helping that makes me feel 10 times better.

Also I hated SV when it was put in but Mike has made it into a good course with all the work he has done with it.
