well if someone is silly enough to buy it then i guess this person's efforts were worth it?

Ebay fees wouldn't matter if you are getting 1.5million for 1 disc :) i'd pay 1.4mill in ebay fees if i had to on that one.

People do pay outrageous prices for Roc's though, even though in the end, it's nothing more than a piece of plastic so he's more than likely trying to play off peoples ignorance. Seriously, why pay hundreds or even over a thousand dollars for a golf disc? I've seen one Roc go for $1500! And we criticize people for purchasing gum chewed by celebrities, or bidding on William Shatner's kidney stone? IMO, if anyone pays more than $30 for a disc you are no better than the person who buys Britney Spears chewing gum off eBay.

I really do not understand paying so much money for any disc unless the money goes to charity.

Are you guys trolling? Did you read this thread or just chime in at the end? Do you know anything about Champion Rocs and the USDGC?

The Roc in question is "The Golden Ticket", not a misprint. The "seller" is merely bragging, but I'm sure if someone were to step up and pay US$1.5M he would gladly part with it.

You can use google, too. (http://zonedriven.com/09/04/9407-brandon-kilby-golden-ticket-winner)

So you guys are saying there is no collectible disc. I personally have 8 2007 usdgc star rocs I bought to collect and not to throw is there something wrong with this. Our sport is young a collecting is becoming disc more and more the norm. People collect every from baseball cards to spoons why not disc.

No, theres a huge collectable market that is only getting bigger. Id say the disc in question is worth between 250.00 to 500.00$. The problem with collectable anythings is they are only worth what someone will pay for them.

This seller is doing 2 things. The first is showing it off. The second is generating a buzz about the disc so when he does decide to sell it it will go for good money.

Its a documented 1 of 1 with a good story behind it, and it can also be proven.

What I find funny is that people are making such a big deal out of it. Nobody would pay a million for any disc, ( For a million dollars, you could make a run at a huge portion of Gateway....if not the whole thing. ) and I seriously doubt anyone would pay more than 500$ for it....but I have been very suprised at what some Rocs have went for lately, especially the newer releases.

Ya know, I was thinking that disc would be more in the $1,500 range, but when I think about it you are probably right. The disc is a documentable "1 of 1", but I think the real value is more sentimental and less "sale-able". Meaning if I had that disc and it had gotten me into the USDGC, it would mean a lot to me. But since I didn't get the disc and I didn't go, it not really worth much to me to own it so personally I probably wouldn't pay much of anything for it.

It's a cool disc for the winner, but I'd buy 2001's before I'd buy it. But that's just me.

I agree. I agree with that on all Roc purchases over $300.00, unless you have to have it for a set or whatever.

The collectors market isnt going anywhere...except up!

As more people come into the game, more pick up on the fact that only so many of these things are made, especially the plastic from 00-04. It used to be about replacing the perfect disc, now its about preserving that disc in mint condition. For me its more of an investment than anything, and Im just hoping it doesnt go the route of late 80's baseball cards! I dont really see how though, with the games growth per year and the fact that Innova has come on-board with the collectable market. ( Pre-packaged documented discs become valuable. Obviously. Have you seen Ebay? )

My advice is buy everything you can afford to sit on.

The question that no one has asked yet is: Did this guy actually get this disc with the "Golden Ticket" and play the USDGC or did he buy it from the actual winner for a lot of money? If it's the latter, that's just sad! Once the "Golden Ticket" has been used, this disc is just a misprint IMHO. It's like finding a winning lottery ticket that has already been cashed in.
