2008 divisions
Advanced MA1 All Any (required for 935+)
Intermediate MA2 All < 935
Recreational MA3 All < 900
Novice MA4 All < 850

To be fair, the Riverside Glide should be 2nd place. JoeRo is the undisputed champion.
Wanna know my secret?
Green Country Doubles - Partner
Riverside Glide - Practice 15 footers for 6 hours the week leading up to the tourney
Oklahoma Open - play one round out of my mind, and hope everyone else chokes (this is a great strategy, by the way ;))

I knew you would chime in eventually.
I think a kid can only help. The formula for me seems to be to play less golf. If I can get down to one round a month, I'll bring my rating up to 1000.

Yea, right.
Bring the kid to the course, its not a distraction.
Ask Kev how his rating is doing?
So far this year, you have been the exception to the rule though. I will give you that. :D
You have played well.
We'll see how it goes after the first kiddo hits the ground running. ;)

Screw em' :p if I'm listed as an Amateur I plan on renewing as an amateur and saving $25. It's not my fault the PDGA dropped the ball...right? :D
I don't care about the points but if I shoot some hot rounds in advanced and they take the ratings away that would suck.

I don't see any benefit from playing down, other than the cheaper entry fees.
I guess some folks would rather play for fun...and some play to get better. I think playing up will make you better; playing down, not sure of the benefits.
As for BAP, I am fairly certain he is moving up.
Birdie
Jan 29 2008, 07:06 PM
I play pro most often for that reason penny, to get better, not for actually hoping to win money from them...though that has happened....
And I am not advocating anyone play up or down or whatever...
All I was saying is that the IceBowl is the WORST place to play up in hopes of winning...
Now you could still play up just to see how they use mullies, what shots they try etc....
There are so many things to learn from the pro's in town that anyone could benefit from playing with them...
But in the IceBowl there is even less reason to play pro because the cards were not organized by division.
I played with Dale Patterson both rounds...why?
I love the way he plays that course. Ever since I was a rec player I remember seeing him lay it down out there....smooth shots, and sidearms and good putts...it is exactly how I want to play that course...
But I was still in Advanced and he was in Really Good Old Man....or whatever they call it.... :D

If I can legitimatally (sp?) play adv without breaking any rules I plan on doing it. Rules are there for a reason and if I'm abiding by the rules I have no problem with playing Adv. Depending on which tournament I'm playing will determine what division I play. For example: if I go play Z-Boaz Open I will play ADV. If I'm playing the Riverside Glide I'm playing Pro.
