i've got a few protos i've been working with. one is factory-stable and i have not tuned it. stable is an understatement. i threw a spike hyzer, it got straight up and down and threatened to invert. the other two i've tuned less stable. i set the 163 as a skyroller and the 170 a really long, fast headwind driver. this disc has a very wide rim. skip shots have flared up pretty high after the skip, then stopped fairly close to the landing, which can be nice. the tuning concept may not be for everyone. i'm more comfortable setting two or three in various conditions before the round than i am tuning on the fly... but i find myself checking the rim and making minor adjustments on the teebox, so maybe that will change with more experience. the one is pretty cool, and is already approved.

Umm... Gateway is not Quest.
If it really is as fast as a Destroyer and is as overstable as sandalman says I may have to check it out. A Destroyer for headwinds? Sweet.

What... like DD Bra size? Are you kidding? Have you ever watched the Solheim Cup? Everytime they play best ball it's hard to get over the commendators saying " She has the Best ball".... Who cares?

I don't see how this could be a bad thing for Dynamic Discs.
If Innova came out with a Twisted TeeRex or a Maceman Monster that would be good for Joe and Brian right?

The difference being those would be a joint effort with both parties. While DD doesnt hold rights, I dont think so at least, to the phrase double D, it is a phrase that people use to describe DD a lot. The only down side I see it having is if the disc is a flop and a gets a bad rep then people will associate the two. I dont think it is really a bad thing, just think Quest should have put a little more thought into is all.

I dont see how Dynamic Discs will be affected in a negative manner seeing as most people know its a business and not a disc. Plus the Quest AT logo on the disc gives it away as to who the manufactuer is.

They should have contacted Rusco though...
I mean come on...
Obviously Quest is a horrible disc namer....the T-bone?
They just should have more common courtesy and business sense...
DD pushes a lot of both of their products...
Never said it was a "bad" thing...bad press is better than no press.

Dave McCormick was the first to tell me about the Double D when it was in the works. I wasn't very excited about the name and couldn't believe that Quest was going to use it. It's a bad name in my opinion for a disc....but could be acceptable I guess if the disc was made exclusively for Dynamic Discs. Unfortunately that is not the case.
I got a phone call from Steve Pearson (Quest) about the possible complications and told him that I really didn't like the disc being name the Double D but couldn't stop him from naming it that (he already had PDGA approval then with that name). Steve told me that we'd think about it and work something up. I guess I'll probably get a $1 off each disc or something! which isn't worth anything at all in my opinion. That means over the next year I might make an extra $50!!!! Who knows....but I agree....bad press is better than no press so maybe one way or another this will get some more exposure for Dynamic Discs some way or another.

I dont receive anything from Quest. I'm not a sponsored player or anything. I went to Marshall Street, saw they had the disc and decided to post it. I was hoping someone on here had thrown the disc because I'd like to but the sports store here that carries all our disc golf stuff hasnt gotten in yet.

No, it was briefly discussed but didnt go through. I did some sells for them back in the summer as a rep, but I'm not a very good salesmen so I stopped. I dont do any sales for any company at all. Heck, the only Quest disc I throw now is the Raging Inferno.

From my limited experience Double D's are a lot of fun and feel very nice in the hand. Those with smaller hands may have some trouble getting a solid grip though and griplock will likely be a common occurence. Anyone having back-ups must feel very fortunate. ;) :p

Dynamic Disc is the company that makes the Puppy and the Floater since the 80's. What exactly is Dynamic Discs and why are the names the same?

Destiny discs changed their name a short period during the 90s to Dynamic discs, really dont know why...
Under the name Dynamic discs they released for example the Dimple, Long ranger and Jeteye....

Jan Sobel made a run of the Super Puppy a couple of years ago (was it 03?), there is no website that I know of. There is just a adress and telephonenumber in the PDGA-list.
