Heres just a quick idea to throw into the pot, but how about colour coding the course icons on the google map search?

Say <font color="blue"> blue for 18 holes</font> &amp; <font color="red"> red for 9 holes </font>&amp; anything not 18 holes.

I just say this because I'm touring the US &amp; trying to only hit 18 hole courses because if I dont really want to travel miles &amp; miles just to play 1/2 hr of golf on a 9 holer.
