The Atlanta Open 2008 will be one of only 15 USDGC qualifiers nation wide. The tournament is only four short months away, so get in and fight for your spot in the USDGC for 2008.

For those who live near Georgia, this is an event worth playing in. Being an early qualifier scheduled for April 5-6 2008 come fight for a spot in the USDGC. Five spots will be given to the top five best scores in the Pro divisions (Open and Masters) who are not already in. Online registration is available above. Much more to come soon.

Nov 08 2007, 07:21 PM
By the way, Atlanta is only 6 hours from Raleigh NC and only 4.5 to Bowling Green, KY. Think about that, Atier to an Atier to a NT in three weeks with not much drive time.

Last year we paid out $1,150 to first place in Open. Unfortunately, last years winner J.D. Ramirez has a conflict the same weekend in TX. We will have a link to the Atlanta Open website up soon.

Want tokeep this up near the top, I would love to see some of the tour players make this event. The cash is good, the courses are challenging and the event is well run.

North Georgia Disc golfers are already working very hard on this event and would love to see a great turnout!

Would love to have you come to the AO in 2008 Tank. Nice opening round at the USDGC come on down to the ATl and secure your spot for 2008.

Field will be limited to 90 Pros and 72 AMs. Flyer and online registration are above.

MTL, Brian told me that the Castle course is the same weekend as the AO this year. It is just to hard any more to find a date that works with everyone. If you change your mind we will have some pretty decent bread on the line and not to mention a potential right to play in the USDGC. April 5-6 2008 is early in the year, so come on out for an A tier on two great courses. This year Central Park will be modified/ "super sized" with several fair but challenging par fours. Whoever wins the trophy will certainly have to earn it.

Only 72 spots available for Am divisions so get in if you are outside of GA. Local Ams fill events fast. Pros on the other hand are last minute and this year we have 90 spots for Pros.

These two courses will seriously test the wooded golfer as well as the bomber/approacher. Lots of cash to be won as always.

I attended this tourney last year. Came all the way from St. Louis. Was well worth the trip.

Was very impressed with the TDs and the event as a whole. Courses were awesome, weather was great, and I even played well.

Will this be a qualifier for the ADGC again?

I hope my schedule is open for the AO in 08.

Try the link above to find great rates at the tournament hotel. MTL glad to hear that you are coming back, I hope that Jason, Justin, Shweby, Mike and all of you Carolina dogs make a trip out of it.

We are looking like we are going to have $5,000 added cash. Not bad for an early season kick off event. Again, the Atlanta Open falls in a good place on the Tour schedule (right between the Crosstown Classic A tier and Bowling Green NT). In addition to that it is a USDGC qualifier. Come on down and take home some AO cash and a spot to compete in the USDGC.

The ones in the wooded section you need to look at for sure are holes 8(my favorite visual hole on the course), 9, 10(gym hole - my favorite risk/reward hole)as the OB could come into play except on 9(which is open for 50ft - tunnel for 50ft - then open to basket)

Climo wins over McCoy by 1 stroke. Don't remember who the 5 USDGC spots went to, but there was a 3 way tie for the last spot between Hoffman, Phil Arthur and somebody. Don't know who won the playoff for the final spot. Hammock won Masters and Peavy beat Burl by 1 stroke in the women's. As would be expected, the mood was very somber. The rest of the tournament staff really busted their butts to get everything finished, and I'm sure the scores will be up soon.

I would like to give the biggest THANK YOU to everyone involved in the 2008 Atlanta Open!

From the staff that helped us finish this event under extreme conditions, to the players who offered never ending support and understanding!

I for one am very proud to say that I'am part of a disc golf community that is top notch from A to Z!

I would also like to add that the 2009 Atlanta Open shall be renamed as "The Drew Eberhard Memorial Open".

Thank you Atlanta.

Where to begin?

First and foremost I offer my most sincere condolences to the entire Eberhard family!

Second, I would like to sincerely thank all of the people that rallied together to help us make the Atlanta Open a success in the face of tragedy!

Sharon Leyva, without her support I would have never made it! Imran, Grease, Jay Voss, Keith, Ryan, Cuban, Forrest, Mike Dames, Ben, and all the players. Everything that was needed was taken care of by so many people and for this I'm forever grateful!

There are so many folks that helped out that I couldn't possibly name all of you, but you know who you are.

Please help me honor the request made by the Eberhard family, and do not attempt to contact them or send any items via mail to thier home. If there is anything that you need, please contact me via private message here on this board?

As soon as I recieve any details regarding funeral arrangements I will post them here.

Thanks again to the Atlanta disc golf family, Atlanta Open players, City of Roswell, Forsyth County and everyone else that I have not named.

Please note that the 2009 Atlanta Open shall be renamed: "The Drew Eberhard Memorial".

First off, what a sad and somber weekend and my prayers and condolences out to Rand and everyone who knew Drew. I never got a chance to meet the guy and still felt a lot grief due to the loss of one member of the disc golf community and as a brother to a disc golf volunteer, a great guy, and a friend of mine.

This was a top notch event and considering the circumstances was ran incredibally smoothly. Thank you Atlanta disc golf!

Since I know people want to know about USDGC, I will post the info. I know it is hard to even think about something like this at this time, but the best thing to do is move on with your normal lives and remember the good times, and the play this weekend was a good time.

So McCoy, JD, Hunter and J-Bird light got in. Mike Hofmann, Phil Author and Brett Rousea were in a playoff for the final spot.

Hole 1 at Central was the starting hole - a very tough par 4 (my groups were 3 4 5 5 7 the first round and 4, 5, 5, 6, 7 the second round).

All for played safe off the tee and put themselves in posistion for the very tough approach to the green with OB everywhere.

Phil was about 350 out and threw lefty over the road. It came in about 20 short and skipped ob about 20 right. Brett was about 315 out and threw a little too far right, but hit a tree and stayed in bounds. However, he was a good 80 - 100 out. Hofmann was about 310 out and played safe and came up about 40 - 45 short.

Brett makes a run, but misses. It was determined Phil was out, he took his meter and banged the putt into a head wind for the 4. Hofmann steps up with a left to right cross and made his for the 3 and the final spot. The putt was pure and was in as soon as it left his hand.

1st: Rand and family, so sorry to hear about your loss! You and your family are in my families prayers!

Anyone know how my boy Dolla Dolla Bill finished up? I saw that he was up there in the running after the 1st day. And how far back did Sarah Stanhope end up from winning?

At the service this afternoon/evening, I was asked to post this info regarding scores.

Please understand that Disc Golf is secondary at this time to the family, but that the scores have been given to someone who will/should be posting them later tonight, or tomorrow sometime.
Some of the staff involved have gotten little sleep in the last few days so please have patience, and they will be up shortly.

The Eberhards thank the Disc Golf community for their support.

Trust me, I don't think anyone expected the scores to be posted in a time like this. No need to apologize for something like this.

I've been cking for posted scores about 2 to 3 times each day, but I DEFINITELY have NOT expected them to be posted. I've been waiting to see if they had been passed off to another outside immediate greeving family. As Robert said, no need for appology. They'll be posted when they get posted and that's that. Some tournaments are run smoothly with no interruptions or things happening and take a month to get scores posted!!!

I would like to ask that everyone take the time during the upcoming tournaments this year to give a moment of rememberence to our fallen brother in the disc golf community and also take the time during those events to cherish the people around you. We never know when our time too will come or that of our dearest friends. Our hearts are heavier as we head to the next few events...

Thanks for all of the prayers and support fellow golfers.
