I throw both the QOLF and SOLF but for slightly different shots. The QOLF has slightly more resistance to high speed turn. Both have similar fade. This is based upon throwing them backhand 300-340. The SOLF is tackier allowing you to put more spin on it. For this reason, I prefer the QOLF for throwing sidearm. The SOLF is also better for the two finger roller. They are the most accurate driver I have found in this speed and I use them both for hitting gaps well down the fairway. You cannot go wrong either way. I did notice that the SOLF had more variance in stability between discs. The QOLF seem to be more consistent in the 10 or so that I have owned. It is of note that the QOLF seems to beat up faster than the SOLF in this mold.

Was is the QOLF or the SOLF that got you second place at the Coyote Classic? Nice shooting!

Be careful judging discs by what they do for others. The general observations that the OLF is more stable and that Sirius plastic is more grippy is accurate.
I also use both discs and my average is in about 370. The QOLF is not as long as the SOLS but you'd expect that given the stability. However, it is less prone to turnover in moderate winds IMH. I view these discs as variations on a theme (a very nice theme for me). The OLS is my downwind disc and the OLF is used if there is any wind or I darn well can't afford a right fade.
Also, IMH both Q and Sirius plastics are softer than their counterparts, Champion and Star. However, they are good enough and since the discs are the best narrow winged drivers on the market (IMO) I'll live with it!
People often refer to these discs as highly accurate. I think that is a reflection on their structure as opposed to the flight patterns of the discs. The discs fit very well in your hand (as compared to the wider winged wonders out there) giving greater control and hence accuracy. I'm a strong proponent of the idea that with accuracy, it's the player, not the equipment. The disc has flight characteristics and if you understand them the disc will go where you throw it.

Actually, John's theme of naming them after stars is very nice. The Discs are the Sirus Long Fade and the Sirus Long Straight.

The correct names are: Sirius Orion Long Fade(SOLF), Sirius Orion Long Straight(SOLS), Quantum Orion Long Fade(QOLF) and Quantum Orion Long Straight(QOLS).
BTW, John named the discs before he was married. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

i love the names, but you could do without the "long" in there. anywho, I found the qof to have less turn and less fade than the sof. in other words, straighter. i beleive this is due to the qof having a slightly larger, more consistant dome. this is at least true for the 5 or 7 of each i have owned and thrown.

Discette, has the Quantum Orion Long Straight(QOLS) been run? I've only seen the sirius and millenium plastic ones so far.
Like gokayak, I also found the SOLF had slightly more fade than the Q version.

The "long" in the name indicates that the disc is a driver.

[gossip on]I was told at one point that it was tried and came out very Sidewinder-like and unsuitable. At that time I was told there was no plan to do a full run.[gossip off]

Doh!!!I stand corrected. Indeed, there is no QOLS.
Looks like I lost on Jeopardy, too.
