Did we really need a brand new thread for this? Was something wrong with the existing where did hole one go at knob? (http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=755111&an=0&page=0&gonew =1#UNREAD) thread?

Awe, c'mon now.
Corey has a good idea here. I think he's really depressed that hole one is gone.

Yeah Jeff,
This is like losing a child. Have some heart. :D
If we do find the jag-off that took this basket we should use him as a temp pole hole. I can see 30 people circled around him throwing firebirds from 10 feet away. Ouch!

I think probably everyone who has been in doubles this year would most likely agree to this approach that Corey came up with. If it's gonna be replaced, we should use money that comes from outside the club... and the ace pot must have gotten that high for a reason...
And Kurt... yeah I thought about that too. "Sit on this pole boy while I pimp this drive."

If the "regulars" of doubles would agree to this ace pot deal maybe the hole sponsor could be changed to the "Tuesday Regulars" or something of the sort. It would be the ultimate gesture BOTH WAYS, from peeps that care and a club that can appreciate it.

LOLOL. I think my drive is lost, last I saw my max weight Surge it was heading deep inside a chest cavity. I think I need a provisional!

I like the idea.....and it's Baby Jesus.
But 1st I think we should report the stolen basket to the police and then see if Marshall Township has the funds to get us a new basket??? I'm thinking that they might be willing to do so.
And then if not, I'm all for using doubles money, and I would be willing to throw in some dough also if needed.

I Agree with Chris. Lets report it stolen, see what comes about, possibly reach out to the community for support, and then if all else fails use the ace fund. Please remember that we can use a portable basket for leagues or move the practice basket for a couple of months. As soon as the winter comes we can move hole 17's basket to hole 1 until a replacement can be found.

I forgot about that... the moving of 17 for the sledders.
Well, who's gonna report it?

I think whoever is the course promoter for the PFDS should report it.

Shame on all of you for looking at the doubles ace pot to fund the stolen basket! That's sacred money and I would adamantly oppose using those funds for anything other than a hole in one! :D
I sure hope the township and the police department have been contacted. That is the first step which should have been taken. The second step should be moving the practice basket to hole one for the interim. Third step would be to pursue Marshall Township to replace the stolen basket. It is quite possible a claim could be made through the township's insurance policy. Who knows? The policy deductible may be less than a new Mach III. Marshall township may say "no" to such a request, however, it never hurts to ask.
If we do not recover the basket and the township will not replace it on their dime, then the PFDS has enough funds in reserve to purchase another basket. Every Sunday Devotional entry fee includes $1 which is dedicated to the "course fund". We had been ear-marking much of that course fund money toward tee pads at Moraine, however, replacing KH's number 1 target ranks higher on the list at this point.

now it's jerry wantsyer money ;)
Nah just jokin. But if Marshall will not put up the money, I think we should do a $10 event like the course challenge. And we really need to target all of the local players, and try to get them to step up and put up the $10 to play in the event. You figure there are at least 500+ reagulars at Knob Hill. If we could get half of them to put up $10 to help pay for a new basket, we'd be golden.

That's always the case when you're talking about the ace pot!
All joking aside, the money that's in the current ace pot is already accrued for that purpose. I would not have a problem if from a certain date forward, Timmy announced that additional ace pot entries would go toward the cost of a new basket. I did that at Moraine when the Eagle pot reached $100....the announcement was made up front and the extra bucks collected during those monthlies went straight to the concrete fund (aka course fund). That's one reason we add "course" fund fees at our events ($1 at Knob....$2 at Moraine & Deer Lakes). Those monies are allocated for course improvements and working capital....tees, benches, baskets, tournament expenses, etc. In fact, club members recently discussed the cost of a bulletin board at Moraine which is badly needed....more so than tee pads, if you ask me.
My point is that the current ace pot should be left alone. We have course fund money to buy a basket if necessary.....and doing so would simply delay the other planned improvements. :( I guess we'll see what happens when we discuss the situation with Marshall Township.
Now, that $10 fund raiser doesn't sound like a bad idea...... :D :D

I just used my time machine and won the ace pot next spring.
