Wasn't sure so I wanted to bring it before you all.

Scenario - Yesterday we were in a tournament and there was a slower group ahead of us on a 500FT+ hole. They had already thrown their drives and most had thrown their approach. I was waiting on the tee with my group

Question - Is there a rule that says the group has to hole out before you can tee off or is it like ball golf where once the group is around a stroke ahead you can play on? Just wondering. I skimmed through the rule book but nothing caught my eye.

You can and should progress when it's safe. It's taken quite a few years before more courses started getting some par 4 and par 5 holes that were long enough such that more than one group could be playing a hole. So I think there might be reluctance among some players to throw until a group is finished. Usually a group will need to be about two shots ahead where they've driven and approached before the next group throws.

There is a 666 hole here in Lincoln. It can cause a back up especially when lower skilled players are on it. I tell my tournament player to start on that hole when the group in front of them is putting.

If there is no chance of hitting the group ahead of you, it is perfectly fine to tee off before they finish the hole. Be sure that there really is NO chance of hitting them, however. ;)

Taken out of a tournament setting: Is it ok to discourage casual players to wait until you finish a <300' hole?

What is the best way to go about telling them to hold off?

Throw their disc back at them and tell them not to do it again.

Or perhaps no chance of disturbing them---as from a disc crashing down 100' behind someone who's about to throw.

People won't be sneaking up behind you on this hole. ;)

Any way, there is another active basket within 100 feet of this particular 666 basket. You just have to learn to deal on this particular set up.

How about "Hey guys (or gals), could you wait for us to finish the hole before you drive? In disc golf, on short holes like this you normally wait for the basket to clear, otherwise your shot at an ace may hit me in the back of the head instead... thanks."
