This Sunday (10/21) is the club's first tournament at Old Economy Park. This event is part of the Pittsburgh Scholastic Disc Golf series for high school/middle school kids, but J Gary will have open and amateur divisions for regular league players. We will be setting up nine additional baskets to play an 18 hole layout. Format is two rounds with players meeting at 9:00 am.
The league player entry fee is $10....pros play for cash....ams get a disc of their choice (a good value if one chooses CE or Star plastic). Click here (http://www.pfds.org/docs/PSDGC_Flyer.pdf) for information on the event and directions to the course.
I should also mention that the last event in the Scholastic series is Saturday, October 27, at Deer Lakes Park. The morning singles round will be held as usual, in conjunction with the scholastic event. Random doubles will take place in the afternoon if there is any interest.

We had a great tournament at Old Economy Park! Setting up nine temporary baskets (including the six Traveler baskets donated to the PFDS from Innova), we played two rounds on a challenging 18-hole layout (shown above). Twenty-one high school/middle school kids showed up which was the largest turnout for the scholastic series this year! We also had eight additional league players as well....four amateur and four open players. Thanks to everyone who came out to participate.....we sure hope you had a good time. :)

Jerry out did himself!!!
That course was the most fun I've had all summer disc golfing. The island green and use of many, many OB's demanded some control. At first I didn't know what to think on my first round... I was kind of having a reality check because I expected to kind of blaze right through it all.
Two 66's for me. It wasn't easy either. The rest of you guys who weren't there missed out.
BTW- This scholastic thing is pretty cool. J Gary has a really good group of youngsters showing up and playing quite well. I like the idea alot.
