Quick question: We're running a winter point series. It begins December 1, has another event December 15, and then two events in January, one event in February, one event in March.
With two events in 2007, this leaves us up in the air on how to handle the new division structure. We're going to be dealing with a sudden change 1/3 of the way through the series in how the divisions are aligned. Any suggestions?

Here's one. Base season points not off how many players you beat in your division at each tournament but how many players you beat at each tournament across all divisions. You beat twenty players you get 20 points.
Then, your series divisional winners are the people who have the most points in the division they are in at the end of the Series.
Pretty easy to set up on your spread sheet too.

I would recommend talking to Dave Gentry and see if he's willing to allow either using 2007 divisions for the remainder of the series in 2008 or use the 2008 divisions starting in 2007. This would be the logical extension of this paragraph from the Competition Manual:
2.2.B. Players may be allowed to enter a ratings based division they would otherwise be ineligible to participate in as part of a points Series provided that
(1) The Series Director has contacted the PDGA prior and received approval from the PDGA Tour Manager.
(2) The Series allows players to stay in the division for the entire Series.
(3) The player has not competed in a higher division at any time during the Series.
(4) The players rating does not exceed 20 points above the rating ceiling for the division they wish to compete
in.
