Quick minutes

1. better communication needed (eg. opt mag is $10 and folks need to know, new divisional structure not understood)

2. What benefits does a TD get? was asked
insurance, ratings, archival, on PDGA schedule, very handy excel sheet which figures out payout, helps with finances, and makes reporting easy

next year, hopefully free online registration with auto population of the pre-reg list and member / non-member auto checking. (stress hopefully)

3. what is the mission statement?
I was unable to answer this as it is currently being debated. I gave my opinion which is nice and simple, grow the sport, create an environment where competitive disc golf can thrive, make it fun.

4. Is there a dress code at A-tiers?
I did not think so, but will have to look this up. This perhaps kind of links to #1 above.

5. The PDGA should hype the big events more.
I told of the new NT Clinics program where NTs will have top pros give teaching clinics and hand out tickets to the NT event. There is also talk of creating an NT press kit to help NTs get local media coverage.

6. Can the PDGA develop a PDGA Rep for local town meetings when folks are trying to get courses put into public parks. When a PDGA Rep, wearing a PDGA polo walks in the room and says, "I'm from the PDGA" that alone would give the sport significant credibility. If they had some documentation on demographics and environmental impact, that would be awesome.
--
I think Brian Graham is developing this.

7. With the new $10 per non-member fee, there was a strong desire to see some value added to that as opposed to the players being fleeced 10 bucks so they can play.
--
I agreed. The board will be discussing this exact issue on Wednesday night at the teleconference.

8. Financial disclosure. If I wanted to know how the march of dimes spends their money, or at least what percentage goes to research, and they told me they would not tell me, I would not donate money. Why can't the PDGA at least tell us where the money goes?
--
I had no good answer, but I agreed that we should.

Those were the highlights. Thanks to all who attended. In a couple of days, I expect to be able to walk again.

Steve.

PS. Heather, I hope your branch story turns out to be incredibly boring!

note: that was the coldest and hurricane-eist tourny ever.

i'm really new to NEFA but i've already seen that you all have a great group of folks. it will be neat to see how the "no tax" tournament idea turns out. in the coming years, i will proudly support both the PDGA & NEFA and also rich and bill's Flying Disc Magazine.

there's a lot of "what's in it for me" going around and it will be awesome when that turns in to "what's in it for the sport."

thanks for holding the unity tournament and i hope the summit was productive (and warm and dry). you rock!

p.s. the branch hit the ground... not me. yawn.
